Edes claim its going down with De La Rosa, Loney, DeJesus, Jerry Sands and a top prospect. Wow is right.

Hopefully the prospect is Allen Webster or Zack Lee.

I wouldn't care about anybody but gonzo....losing gonzo hurts bad IMO......the rest eh..the money gives you flexability to get other better free agents...

Getting rid of them all is great. The fact that you might get Webster/Lee, if not both, and Sands is even better.

If I was a Sox fan I would be thrilled right now.

I agree, losing Gonzalez hurts in the short term but getting out of the bad contracts of Beckett and Crawford (and Gonzalez) would be huge. This team the way it is now isn't going to be able to compete. They need to do something different to change things up.

I have no doubt Crawford, Beckett and Gonzalez will play like All Stars in LA though. That's how it always happens right?

Gonzo yes, and you have to think there is a huge Mexican following out there he will be loved, Beckett will do well out there in the NL West, but I don't think Crawford will be missed at all....

Because we haven't seen the true/real Carl Crawford. But just getting out from under those contracts is incredibly huge. Those 3 players are owed $250 million bucks for the next 5/6 years.

If this is the case the Sox have to be eating some of the 250 million left owed to them left? I mean to give up that package, and get no salary relief from the Sox is crazy no?

They will be sending money back to LA, but nothing significant.

Yeah I'm sure they will have to pay part of that money owed. But still just getting those big contracts off the books is huge.

You guys are basically using gonzo to get out of all those bad contracts, is it worth it? I hate to say it but I think so....

Short term no, long term absolutely. I'm both sad and excited at the same time. This team is clearly broken, they need something like this to change things up.

That's fair to question, but he's had 1 awful year and 1 year where he was hurt. Who knows if he'll be that player again.

Boy all of Theo's big moves (minus Lackey) have really hurt this franchise and set them back for awhile huh? I kind of wish I had Casey Kelly and Anthony Rizzo right now to be honest with you....

I agree but I think this almost guarantees it. I wonder if this trade is a Lucchino move or a Cherington move.

By the way the Dodgers are going to be a tough team to beat with all the talent they have now. But man that payroll...

    Blow it up......love it.

Getting out of contracts is just $$$, but wishing, hoping, and waiting on young talent to produce and help big league team is a gamble. Sure it could pay off...but its a lot of "rightnow" MLB talent heading to LAD.

The Dodgers have agreed to send Webster, De La Rosa, Loney, Sands, and De Jesus to the Red Sox, a source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Meanwhile, a source tells Rob Bradford of WEEI (Twitter link) not to expect a deal to be completed tonight.

The Red Sox have yet to secure permission from Beckett, who has 10-and-5 rights, or Crawford, who has a partial no-trade clause, a source tells Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com. However, neither player is expected to block the deal.

I agree but they can go on a spending spree think about it...they have infinite funds to secure more MLB ready players now, probably better ones...

Sources say the Dodgers will pay 95% of the contracts of Beckett, Gonzalez, Punto and Crawford. The Dodgers are officially insane.

Yes I think Ortiz stays. Not like he's blocking anyone and they will need a big bat in the line up. Sign him for 2 years so he'll stop *****ing each year about being on 1 year deals.

On the flip side though why stick with the same players if the team isn't going to be good? I mean the team hasn't seen a good or healthy Crawford in 2 years, Gonzalez has taken a step backwards this year, perhaps its just a down year but he could go Teixeira on us and Beckett is most likely done as a good/solid AL pitcher.

Again short term (the next 2 years) the team takes a big hit but long term this is great for the franchise. Tons of payroll flexibility now. The franchise needs to focus on player development and not throwing big money at free agents.

I agree it's foolish to bank on young kids/prospects but the team is getting rid of 3 big contracts, that can't be overlooked.

Depending on some of the moves the Sox make this offseason, the Sox might be a better team without those 3 guys than with them. You never know, baseball is a funny game.

That's a pretty bad argument. Bad MLB talent that's going to cost a crap ton of money is heading to LA.

Red Sox came out huge winners here.

Fine, but missing out on playoffs for 3 years.....very well could turn into 3 more plus. So be it for the future. Love it...blow it up beaners.

The Dodgers are expected to pick up more than $260MM of the $271.5MM in combined salary that the Red Sox are sending to them, a source tells Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald.

I agree, especially with the Sox only supposedly paying 5% of the 250 plus million. The Dodgers are going to be paying two 30 year old players 20 plus million at non elite positions for the next 6 seasons. It's a huge gamble on the Dodgers part. And where are they going to come up with the money to sign Kershaw to a long term deal after signing Kemp and Ethier? It just screams like a short term fix for the Dodger owners trying to make a big splash but not planning for the future.

Again though you can argue that the Sox could miss out on the playoffs for 3 more with those players too and paying them when they're declining.

I would rather bet on young players than keep declining players like Gonzalez, Crawford and Beckett.

Besides, the Red Sox are still a good team. They just basically lost Adrian Gonzalez considering Crawford barely played and Beckett sucked. I think they can replace Gonzalez's production next season and compete.

sure, but you think they learn from mistakes? Its beantown we are talking about. hahahaah...love it.

yup, the Dodgers are expected to pick up more than $260MM of the $271.5MM in combined salary that the Red Sox are sending to them, a source tells Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald. The Dodgers are going for it.

Agreed, its hard to keep pace with winners....but it was overdue when you chase the leaders. Haha...might turn out ok, but its a huge risk, and the question on top of now waiting for youth, is has anyone in that FO learned lessons of spending on the right players that fit the organization and market. Time will tell.

Its not a bad argument when only the future will determine it, and its not a guarantee that any of them turn into proven MLB talent heading to LAD. Listen, Saux have missed out on playoffs for 3 years, including this one where they even added an extra team, 2004 and 2007 is a long time ago, and it took 80+ years to do away with the 1918 memory.....very well could turn into 3 more plus just to make playoffs again let alone some 80+ to win another WS. Hahaha.

Betting on the future is one thing....having your FO is another. Love it...blow it up beaners, blow it up.

Cant hang with the big dogs....:tongue2:

But, but, but they were your saviors....they were what you needed to compete with the Yankees and keep pace. All you needed was to land AGon and all was right with the world after Yanks signed Tex and he led them to WS, and Crawford was the future, hahaha....

turn, turn, turn, there is a reason, turn, turn, turn.....

You're post was basically a repeat of your last post. You should have just copied and pasted it.

Again, they got rid of three bad contracts, and only one of them was a good player. They still have proven talent on their team, as well as young talent in the minors and money to spend.

    Yankee fan scared? Lol.
