CK, are you see standout talent at any position that is caught in a numbers game on other teams? We have talked wrs, and little on d-line. Not so much on linebackers and defensive backs, or even on offensive linemen.
I still think we make a trade before the season starts. Honestly I was hoping to make a trade for DB help and hope a veteran WR got canned cause of some new flashy draft pick. However, I see Ireland being stubborn about his 5th round safeties. This team really needs a Chad Pennington type acorn to fall from the tree over the next week. Just a veteran cut that makes too much sense or has some times to Philbin/Sherman.
It appears that way, and this morning's article by Armando on the salary cap situation probably explains this. The Dolphins have the least amount of cap in the league other than two other teams.
Nobody is saying he is... thanks for the reach. However, he's been a reliable target in the past. With all the young, unproven guys we have here, it would be nice to have someone who's proven to be a fairly reliable QB Friendly target on the field with our inexperienced rookie QB...
Yes, there is. The owners voted for a change in the IR rules whereby one "Marquee player" is allowed to be brought back to practice after week 6 and can be activated for week 8. That player must be on the 53 man roster after the final pre-season cut.
I get the feeling that they really want to give the guys they have a chance to shake out before they start bringing in known quantities. Also, it's entirely possible that the first domino that needed to fall in any of this discussion was the declaration of winner in the QB race.
Last I heard which was about a week ago, the NFLPA had not given its approval for either the new half-IR position or the new trade deadline...and they must approve for them to take effect. There could be a quiet standoff going on.
