So in 3 weeks with NY he has nearly matched his RBI total by a 1/3, his OPS is .850, mid .300's OBP and his is getting more than 1 H a game, all the while playing stellar defense in every position in the outfield....love the guy's moxy as well, I think Tito said it last night the guy is a showmen........cant wait to when those holes start to clear up on his bat...... He is going to be a tough out in October hopefully....hope he doesn't tense up... you can tell the guy is having fun out there, smiles alot....involved in the dugout...
I will always take another L out of the pen come postseason....if he indeed can get back in time for that. It was a solid move when it happened, nothing has changed that opinion.
The Post also notes that Pineda's blood-alcohol level was .128 and .125 in two separate tests. At 6'7" and 265 atleast....thats a whole lotta a-a-alcohol!
Ill only laugh at that because the red sox suck so bad and i want you to feel better about yourself...LOL (that was a good one)
Oh come on, that line was pretty clever, even if the Red Sox were world beaters this year you would have laughed, we both know it! Haha.
wow that is.....ugh....and for it to go down only that little in a span of 30 minutes (usually 30 minutes between tests) is a pretty good indicator that the guy finished doing what he was doing and made a bee-line for his car...
Ivan Nova had a bad night last night, and now it’s being reported that he felt “a grab” in his shoulder during his six-run, six-inning performance against the White Sox. As such, the Yankees have placed him on the 15-day disabled list. dang.......not a good turn of events.
I feel like the Yankees are starting to slowly break down, whether it be via injury or poor performance.
I haven't really paid much attention to the Yankees lately, I'm more focused on Toronto these days since the Sox are much closer to them.
hey at least you are taking it well..... on another bit of news....Skip Bayless.....is running out of ideas for topics to talk about....... http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2012/08/23/jeter_brushes_off_bayless_insinuation/ Just a nice subtle pimpslap from the hand of God...
Talk about a cry for attention. This is why people in the media should be held accountable for their (most of the time careless and dumb) remarks.
I mean I get they are there for part entertainment value as well....but this guy flats out lies, and says the dumbest stuff ever....he takes the cake, the way he went after LeBron this past season was just unprofessional... btw Jeter has 1 less HR than A-Rod
you guys gotta watch this...Stephan A. Smith "You going mention Derek Jeter in the same breathe as Melky Cabrera?!?!" Just watch Smith's face the whole time from the beginning..effing hilarious... http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/8294309/derek-jeter-laughs-skip-bayless-ped-use-insinuation The bolded is perfectly stated...as Fink is saying that right now
i couldnt keep a straight face either....besides the fact that bayless is the worst sports "reporter" out there, he's also insane.
Cool article..... http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/ventura_jeter_best_yank_ever_aB1tRUyG9SjYIiAZt9cY7K Ventura thinks he is the greatest Yankee ever...
Definitive proof that the blows to the noogin from Ryan really did cause damage. My five are Ruth, Gehrig, Joe D, Yogi, Jeter....just cant put Jeter above those 4 for many reasons, and I know exactly how great Jeter has been in many regards, he just doesnt crack my all-time top 4. Yogi's 10 player rings (3 coaching too - 21 times was in the WS), and 3 AL MVPs just are crazy to think about too.
I think there is something to be said on when they played the game too though....Jeter IMO is above Yogi...the stats heavily outweigh Yogi right now, nevermind when he retires... Who knows he could be better than all of them, this argument about who could play in what era is never ending, but the one that that is indisputable is that players of the past couldnt do what they did in todays game....especially the pitchers.... Yogi's MVP years are pretty avg in todays game (as far as MVP years go)...go look at them....
That's crazy talk.....very crazy talk.....take a look at the stats, # of starts, and innings of the old time arms of the game, you are nuts frankly to think they couldnt produce in todays game with specialists, etc. Did Ryan put you in a head-lock????
Injuries removed top 5 once Jeter came along....really, he could have been amazing, but his career was just too short from a prime production standpoint....probably tied for 6th now as he was tied for 5th (prior to Jeter) in my mind with several of other greats.
If you're talking top 5 Yankees just based on stats and how good they were and not personal favorites, I'm not sure how Jeter could or would rank above Ruth, Gehrig, Joe D and Mantle. Sure injuries slowed Mantle down a bit along with his nightlife but the guy did bat .298/.421/.557/.977 with over 500 HRs (back when it meant something to hit HRs). The guy was an all time great. And while after each year my personal appreciation of Jeter grows, I don't think he's anywhere near the all around player Mantle was. Not a knock on Jeter by any means though as most players don't/can't compare to the Ruths/Gehrigs/Dimaggios/Mantles of the world.
I cant definitively argue, that, Mantle could be 5 an Jeter 6th....its close and will have to wait for Jeter's career to close and all....but still think Yogi is top 4, he gets overlooked and really shouldnt, besides being a catcher....he is only one of 3 or 4 guys EVER to win 3 AL MVP awards. And 10 rings, team game and all, its still 10 rings. Its crazy, but he gets overlooked.
That stuff is a bit overrated though, especially the 10 rings. Sure it's nice but because Yogi has 10 rings and someone like Ted Williams has zero does than mean Yogi is better than Williams? Plus Ramiro Mendoza has what 4 WS rings, that's just funny and weird to say. The rings are a nice footnote to add I guess but they shouldn't hold much weight in a debate of who's better.
Tonight Jeter gets a double in his ab against a rookie pitcher, comes out next ab and gets plunked in the helmet....... Jeter was hot, jawing at the kid, telling him "you don't do that"......watch it, don't remember Jeter ever getting THAT pissed off.....
Didn't see the game but was he hit on purpose? Seems kind of strange a rookie would hit him in the head just because he hit a double off of him.
It seemed like it....he was pitching away to every right handed batter....then he comes up and in on him.....did he mean to plunk him in the head, probably not, but I bet he meant to pitch him in.....
Hahaha, spoken by everyone in the history of the game except Yogi....so, nope....he has earned his unique and sole-ownership of the place.
I'm shocked Yogi (or anyone that won 3 or more) wouldn't think so. But still yes that's nice Yogi has 3, but again does that make him better than Babe Ruth who has 1? Sidenote Ruth only has 1 MVP award how is that possible?
I have already listed my All Time Great Yankees in order: Ruth, Gehrig, JoeD, and then Yogi, with Mantle/Jeter neck and neck basically for a solid top 5. So no, it doesnt put Yogi better than Ruth, as I already covered that.
