This is one of the reasons why we may as well just play young Wr's and forget Naanee and just accept we will suck this yr but hopefully find some diamonds by letting them play.

I agree with the notion you don't judge whole careers on two games. However, the issues in these two games are deeper than simply being two preseason games. This team has assignment issues, development issues (putting players in the fire who are not ready, and I am not talking about Tannehill), and playmaking issues. Naanee had done nothing to prove his is going to be a playmaker. He generally has been what is advertised. An occassional show-up. And that judgement goes deeper than two preseason games, but more so on his career to this point. If you believe you are going to be competitive this year keep your sprinkling of veterans, but remember that every older veteran you play takes away opportunity for younger guys to develop. I want to see the younger recevers grow up and am wiling to go through a worse year to pay the price.
Philbin said early in the year he wants to develop his own talent. That doesn't indicate he would want to go out and bring in veterans piece mill to put a competitive season together. I hope he sticks to that and gives some young guys valuable minutes this year to grow up.

Ha, but you wanted to potentially bring Matt ROth back here, so he must have had some value, at least as a rotational player

Specifically, I would keep a guy like Fasano or Bush. They are as close to team leaders as you have. It is obvious that the defense right now is really void of leadership. I wonder if Dansby or Burnett are leaders. A lot of us have complained about the wr corp, when the linebackers have been seriously exposed.

I would keep the young receivers, and I am not even sure that would include Wallace at this point. Wallace hasn't really developed in the three years he has been around and injury did play a part in that. But at this point I might keep Fuller over him. Moore looked decent last night and he is younger than Wallace. I keep Hogan, Matthews and maybe even Cunningham. I am cutting Naanee. Not sure how Hartline's situation will work out to be. I keep Bess. He is probably my veteran leadership on that squad, not a guy like Wallace or Naanee. Young recevers growing up with young qb.

On the offensive line you have already thrown Martin to the fire and if he stays there I have him on a serious weight lifting regime when possible. He has got to get stronger. You keep Long, Pouncey, and maybe Incognito. Hicks? Don't know. I would like to see more of Samuda. Otherwise, I am not enamored with any other member of this squad. If Jeff is going to look for acorns at cut down time this would be an area to start with.

At tight end I think Egnew will only get better with confidence. He has some skills. He came from an offense where he didn't even get into a stance and we expect his blocking to be good? A learning year for him. I like Clay. I think he will do ok. And a kid like Brown has the desire and would be worthy of the practice squad.

At running back, Messam is 27 and I am not sure of his ceiling at this point. I like Thomas, Miller, and look forward to seeing Gray maybe next year. This is likely Bush's last year.

At defense line, Odrick is not in a position to show his strenghts. He appears to be a fish out of water. I hope the staff figure it out. Starks and Soliai are the best of this bunch. It will be interesting to see the development of Randall. A lot of run stoppers historically on this unit. I like Derrick Shelby. Want to see more of him. And I think Vernon will be ok as well. He is young. Westerman at 27 is a question mark in terms of roster benefit. He is good on special teams.

At linebacker, this is not a young unit and seriously void of young talent for the future at this point. Apparently Jeff sees potential in Spitler we all miss. I thought before last week that Trusnik was at best a journeyman. As CK said he was a bit out of place this week, so I guess you cut him some slack. Otherwise, Freeny and Kaddu? Not sure there.

And let us not forget the secondary. What regression for Vontae, but a possibly a wake-up call at some point given what we have learned in Hard Knocks. Sean Smith appears to have improved some. You have what you have in Carroll, Wade, and Brown. And I have not seen rookies Hughes or Scott.
At safety, being a Georgia grad it is hard to watch Jones struggle at times. Making interceptions in practice is great, but he doesn't appear to translate any of that to the field. Clemons does the best he can do. I like Wilson, but I am not sure he is in his best position. Anderson Russell and Culver might actually be more consistent at times than the starters.

What does all this add up to. Sprinkling of talent on an overall untalented team. The question is if Joe can develop the untapped talent that does exist, or will need to continue to build that talent throughout his initial contract? I have been a Dolphin homer for over 40 years, and this might be the least talented team I have seen going into the season. But I am willing to hang on another year with the thought that Joe Knows.

as long and detailed as this breakdown was, not one mention of the man responsible for the lack of talent on this team.

What else do you want me to say about Ireland that hasn't already been said?

So you're comparing the Miami Dolphins to the Green Bay Packers?

Sure, he'd be a cheap signing and he can rush the passer, but the league has spoken on him and he remains unsigned..that speaks volumes

You know that's false. I can give you a whole list of players that took a few years to develop.

To be honest here byroan, how many times have we had those types of discussions?

Who has shown more adaptability to the pro game, Samudha or JMart?

You generally know who can play and who cannot rather quickly.

Typical homer who only wants to hear opinions form other homers. Sorry, I'll keep giving my opinions, which as it turns out, always end up correct because this team is so predictable. You don't like it, they run a tight ship over on that other site. And if you don;t want me to end up right yet again, I'd suggest building up a fortune 500 company and earning enough money to buy the team and start making smart decisions.

No, no I never said that. I said if this team is bad enough, you don't pass on Barkley because of Tannehill. That's pure stupidity. And believe me, we will be cutting it awfully close to bad enough.
