Using high draft picks on Martin and Egnew was most likely the final nail in Irelands coffin. I know its vanilla but Shermans offense blows thus far. Got him fired at ATM and Green Bay and will most likely do him in here. Oh yeah, I do not care now If Jerry weighs 400 lbs. no way in hell Hicks is better then him.
1) Let's judge entire careers on two preseason games. Awesome idea. 2) I love the offensive scheme. It usually helps when your team blocks though. 3) John Jerry is fat.
The thing about that is, so is the other team. In preseason when teams run vanilla schemes, it's simply a talent vs. talent battle much of the time. These last 2 games just proves what I've been saying all along, the talent level on this team is extremely laughable. Not surprising when Jeff Ireland has been your GM of course. Sherman and Coyle better be incredible playcallers, or this season very well may be worst than last year.
Please go look at a draft. Any draft, just so long as a couple years have passed. You haven no idea what one actually looks like.
The Packers lost to the Browns by 25. I'm sure their fans are flipping out as well.... Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G using Tapatalk.
Come on now, think rationally here. It's not Jeff Ireland's fault..... .....it's Bill Parcells oh wait he's gone ......it's Tony Sparano oh wait uhm ......the lockout urrgghhh .....it's a media conspiracy nooo .......it's the replacement refs, yeah this year it's them
1) True. But I do think Egnew sucks. he can't block... but was supposed to be good at catching. 2) Agree. 3) Those who live in glass houses.
So Ireland did absolutely nothing while Parcells was here. Good to know. Even more reason to fire him.
this roster is pretty depressing. no OL. no TEs. no WRs. no legit weapons for your franchise QB. a 4th straight losing season on the horizon. whatever it takes to get Ireland out of here.
I guess you missed his sensational second level block in the 3rd quarter... he peeled off a Samuda double team and leveled the linebacker... it was a thing of beauty.
No, you don't, because you are wrong. Do the bare minimum research it takes to find out what typical draft success rates looks like. It's not too much to ask from you before you "contribute". PS are you the racist guy from Finheaven?
By what standards? A good draft will usually net you three solid starting players. In 2008, we came out with 4 starters. In 2009, we came out with 2 starters in Hartline and Smith. We also came out with Vontae Davis, who's a solid player and basically a starter. In 2010, we came out with Odrick and Misi, who are starters. I don't see the suck in that.
That is true. However, I didn't name him because I don't think he's an above average player. He's starting by default, it seems. Every other player I mentioned are solid starters or better, IMO.
You already asked me this ignorant question. And I don't care about whatever your phony success rate says. We've hit on a couple 1st round OL. Woop de doo. Have we hit on the most important position on the field, QB? Nope. Have we hit on any offensive playmakers? Nope? Defensive playmakers? Nope. Pass rushers? Nope. Cornerbacks? I'd say no considering Davis and Smith have been huge disappointments. Hell have we even hit on running back? Nope.
Then make him head scout, and have him run the draft. This moron is not a General manager. He can't build a team better than a 12 year old with the latest Madden. It's an embarrassment at this point.
Now we're bashing Ireland because 2 draft picks have played poorly in their first 2 pre-season games. Lord have mercy and open up a Jeff Ireland sub forum.
Try 2 in 2008. Chad Henne was terrible, no idea who the 4th is. Jake Long was the top pick, and a lineman at that. That should of been a hit. But considering we passed on a franchise QB, obviously a bad pick anyways. In 2009. Hartline sucks. He's a #4 WR on a playoff team. Just because you're a starter, that doesn't mean you had a successful draft pick. He only starts because everyone else is somehow even more terrible than he is. Smit hand Davis, disappointments. In 2010, Misi is terrible. Get real with calling that a hit because he starts, He sucks. Odrick has done very little up to this point as well. You don't see the suck in it because you're biased. EVERY single person you just named either sucks, or has been the definition of average up this point.
I also think it's hilarious how Ireland haters completely ignore guys like Cameron Wake and the other good players he found. I'm not even a huge supporter of his. I think he's kind of middle of the road, but fair is fair. And let's face it, Ireland's future is tied to Ryan Tannehill.
Every terrible GM has made a few nice moves. When the majority of the moves are terrible, and the team consistently sucks, it tends to overshadow a couple nice moves, as it should.
Long and Langford were the drafted starters. Bess and Carpenter were UDFA who are starters. They're all above average starters. They've proven that. Take Misi for example. He had a damn good rookie season. He fell off a little last season, but he does not suck. He's a good starter. Same with Hartline, Smith, Odrick and Davis. They're good football players. I don't know how you expect anyone here to take you seriously when you love to over exaggerate every point you make.
Matt Ryan is not a "franchise" QB... and as far as 2008, we also drafted Kendall Langford who was a starter for us from day 1 during his entire tenure and just signed a pretty big deal in St. Louis (no longer a scheme fit). And we also signed Bess as an UDFA that year. Odrick has been good man. He missed his rookie year with the injury which sucked, but he had 6 sacks last year from the intirior while in a rotation. Thats some real nice production considering he wasnt getting the full number of reps, and it basically being his rookie year. Also, I do expect Misi to be much more productive in this scheme, and think it will allow us to get a larger ROI. He was playing out of position as a 34 OLB. Hes much better suited in a 43 at the Sam, playing in coverage and stuffing the run.
Can we at least wait til the games matter to start this...some poor performances tonight, but complaining about rookies in the second preseason game? Come on.
Also, in 2008 we signed a 24 year old DT who was relatively unknown... Randy Starks. We also signed Polite, who went something stupid like 23 of 24 in short yardage situations for us. And in 2010, we found Cam Wake out of the CFL... Those 2 years were pretty nice years for us...
Misi has never had a very good anything. He's a bonafide scrub. Hartline is a scrub. Vontae and Smith are not good. They're terrible at times, very good at other times, and overall, inconsistent and average. Same with Odrick. Way too inconsistent.
Matt Ryan is very much a franchise QB. Sucks we took a lineman who doesn't win us any games while the Falcons make the playoffs every year and will likely win a Superbowl once they fix their awful defense, but it is what it is. Odrick was very good at times, and completely invisible at other. Way too inconsistent, though I do expect him to shine as a 4-3 DT. We'll see about Misi. But calling him a successful draft pick up to this point is facepalm worthy.
I disagree. Whether it's watching tape of them or using PFF stats, that's wrong. They're all above average starters.
