Gaby Sanchez is the guy you love on your team if you have a great lineup around him because he should remain fairly cheap and in the right situation produce decent offensive numbers. However if you're expecting him to help carry a lineup you're screwed.

PS Is Hanley still tearing it up for LA? If so he can go pull a David Carradine and go **** himself + die. Theres no excuse to play like **** for 162 games, get traded and all of a sudden play like the MVP you used to be.

I think you're overreacting on the Hanley issue.

I should say I'm not like angry  it was more of a joke than anything. I've been wanting to use that one for a while.

The part about no excuse was serious though.

Sorry I couldn't tell. A lot of Marlins fans have felt that way about him.

I don't know why he struggled but personally, I don't think it was from a lack of trying or work ethic. I think he genuinely struggled here. Maybe there was a flaw in his batting stance that they corrected in LA.

Nah the way I wrote it sounds really angry haha. That's my fault.

Possible but from his first game he started hitting. That's a quick fix and says a LOT about our staff if true.

Hey, you root from Miami teams. Let's be real here. Whenever a player leaves one of our teams, we ALWAYS expect them to tear it up for their new team (re: New England Patriots).

I doubt it was something that simple. I wouldn't think the Marlins coaches would be that bad that his problem all of this time was something they could correct in one day in LA.

He's been in LA for a week. Is he even "fixed?" Check back in September.

A better question to ask is, "Was he ever really broken?" Because I don't believe he's done all he's going to in baseball.

Depends on what we mean by broken.

I only caught one game in LA and it was Hanley's first with them. I noticed he was back to a high leg kick on his swing. That could be trouble in the future for him. As for the Gaby trade, I'm just pissed because now I have to rename my cat. Or trade her for to my friend who's a pirates fan for a bag of chips.

Broken meaning "no longer the elite player he was for several years and utterly incapable of regaining that form."

So many fantastic Marlins related names out there and you go with Gaby? Yikes.

Semantics but I don't see broken in that way. Broken things can be fixed after all.

I meant broken in the way of "No longer performing to the level he is capable of but still has the ability to produce at his previous level."

Of course he's "fixed". He went to the same place as Kevin Youkilis did....

Although in Hanley's case I don't think he's on the decline or done like Youk is/was/whatever. I do think he'll put up All Star numbers again.

I would be surprised if that wasn't the case. All of his peripherals line up except BABIP.

I still think HanRam lollygags around the bases and has to be one of the worst baserunners on picking up his 3rd base coach vs looking back over his shoulder.....seriously this habit is horrible.

Matter of fact if you watch the "triple" he hits in first LAD at bat.....not hard to imagine a quality baserunner with focus has inside the park no doubter on that ball.

Story was I found her abandoned on a baseball field so the idea was a baseball related name, and I wanted to support the Marlins. Because it was a girl I wanted a fitting name and Gaby was the closest. Keep in mind I found her last summer and he was having an All-Star year that year.

Maybe not. It's tough to buy into the change of scenery argument but maybe that really did help.

Either way, I don't think it was a cause of his attitude or lack of work ethic.

Yeah I started this with a question of if he has been and it just sort of took off.

Eovaldi makes his second start for us tonight.

Jose Reyes can extend his hit streak to 20 games tonight. A nice bright spot as of late.

I agree. I don't like it. However, if Hanley doesn't get back to being Hanley and the Dodgers give up a nice, young arm for the right to pay 35m+ to an average player over the next few years, it's a fantastic deal.

Read that he gave up three hits, his only run and had a HBP in the first inning. Then looked great his last two innings.

Watched the franchise from Weds. Hanley seemed like the class clown that everyone dealt with but deep down couldnt stand.....and sadly, Hanley, like the class clown, keeps going not realizes his shtick is old.

His convo with Heath Bell after he was traded was pain-staking. Heath kept saying "huh? oh well..." after every question and when Hanley asked if he could stay at his house, heath was like "uhh well....its like 2 hours south of LA"

    Real Awkward

    Tough season...wow.

Bonifacio re-injured his left thumb while diving for a ball in the ninth inning in the second game of the doubleheader. “When he was on the ground, I knew something was bad,” Guillen said. “I just saw it right away. Same thumb. Same injury. I don’t expect him back this year.”

Anyone else annoyed with Reyes for having this hitting streak about two months too late to matter?

It would have been nice if this happened earlier but the rest of the team was playing so crappy back then too it probably would not have made much of a difference.

At this time two months ago we were coming out of the awesome May. A hitting streak would have helped back in early June.

This is actually exactly what happened. Reyes did have a very good June. .822 OPS. It's everyone else that was terrible.

His June was practically identical to his July.
