I'm not but as I see what you did there. Let me try this again.

Trading for prospects doesn't mean waiting 5 seasons later to see if they can play. We traded for MLB ready prospects. We most likely will receive MLB ready prospects if we trade JJ. So you're looking at 2014, not 2017. Saying 2017 or bust is incredibly stupid.

Why can't we just be absolutely dreadful 2 consecutive years and draft 2 of the most highly touted prospects ever. Like that other team in our division did.

Cause this **** is like Highlander in Miami. There can be only one. Hanley knew it.

    His name is Giancarlo Stanton.

Honestly this team STILL isn't as bad as some are making it out to be. If we spend the right money there's no reason we can't compete for a wildcard spot next season.

Bottom line is that hitting has been our issue. We were losing Anibal anyway and did a nice job getting back a possible #1/#2 starter. If we keep JJ and spend right in FA we could be right back where we are now except better.

Our big loss is Hanley...who played horrible for a full 162+ games.

Well, any team can compete for a spot any season, so I agree. No one expected Pittsburgh or Oakland to be this good. Here they are.

It's probably best if we just let things play out.

Nitpicky but Turner is more of a 2/3. Maybe less if he doesn't start missing bats.

    Especially in this rotation.

Let's say these prospects pan out. The rotation is then JJ/Buerhle/Eovaldi/Nolasco or Turner/Turner or Nolasco.

Clearly, we have differing assessments of these players. I don't consider Turner or Eovaldi MLB ready at all, though they're certainly going to get their remainder-of-season garbage time starts.

I still don't see how that makes these trades for 2017. Do you expect Turner and the rest of the prospects to be in the minors for two more seasons? Even though Eovaldi and Turner have logged a good amount of time in the minors?

They're MLB ready in the way that the baseball community uses the term. They may not be plus performers right away but they'll be serviceable.

I see him as a #2 from everything I've read. He's been dealing with arm issues all season and the fact that he had a rocky introduction to the majors doesn't put me off. He has the potential to be a strong #2 or a non-ace #1 IMO or he could end up being what you said a #3 or less. Just saying he has tools.

I'm really waiting on Jose Fernandez....wishing we could age him a few years forward.

For what it's worth, I'm not saying he's a #3 based on what he's done in the Major League career thus far. I'm saying that based on his statistical profile over his minor league career. It just screams mid-rotation starter. Expecting anything more than that is unrealistic, and there's almost no way he's a #1.

Fernandez is our one hope for a number one starter.

    Gotcha.

His minor league numbers as a whole aren't overly impressive. I'm basically saying that he has the "stuff".

The thing about pitchers is that sometimes all it takes is a new pitching coach making a small change to jump start them. Whether it's something in their mechanics or just the way they approach the game.

I read an article a few days ago about how Miami actually wanted him still, and actually I think someone on here said they wanted him too.....

I was more or less just talking to myself with that....but yeah, some players were happy, Ozzie could care less apparently, and even though the FO wont come out and say it cuz it is bad business....they probably didn't want him either...

Well, he could be. If you look at his Double A numbers over the last two seasons, he looks like a really good prospect.

From everything I've read he's raw for a MLB player but has serious upside. Can't hate that too much.

He's definitely got good stuff. I expect him to be a solid club controlled mid/back of the rotation starter. Always good to get some of those.

At the very worst, he should be a strong power arm in the back of the bullpen.

Having a strong back of the rotation is important, so even if that's all he is it can be a plus.

Hopefully these prospects turn out to be good.
That way we can deal them to some other team whenever we underachieve after alot of hype.

Eovaldi is ok with the potential to be good. I have seen a lot of him in the Dodgers system and and seems to lose focus out there. He can strike out eight, while walking eight. In fact, I saw him do just that a few weeks ago. Hanley should have netted Zach Lee as well, but chalk that up to a bad deal by the Marlins GM.

Having said that, Nate is young and I liked him as a mid to bottom end rotation guy. If he responds to the pitching coach, he will win some ballgames for the Marlins. Just don't expect him to develop into some sort of game changing ace, because he won't.

And Hanley with the game winning homer against our main rival tonight. Thanks Miami!

I think if Hanley could have netted Zach Lee, Zach Lee would be a Marlin right now.

Don't think Dodgers were going to give up Zach Lee for Hanley if they weren't going to give him up for Dempster.

That being said, I don't understand the fascination with Lee at all. Guy had an okay season last year, and is getting absolutely killed this year. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant being considered a top pitching prospect.

That's not exactly a new idea. But for the most part, this article is ridiculous.

HOW DARE THE OWNERSHIP BE CONFIDENT IN THEIR ROSTER!!!!!111234

And then July 25 happened, whereupon:

But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good rant? Wait, it's not a good rant? My mistake.
