    Jason Taylor-DL-Dolphins May. 22 - 7:14 pm et

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Chargers have made inquiries to the Dolphins regarding Jason Taylor.

We're not quite sure where he'd fit with Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman already at OLB, but GM A.J. Smith can never have too many good players. The teams also have a history of dealing (i.e. Chris Chambers, Cleo Lemon, and A.J. Feeley). The Dolphins' asking price around the draft was a second-round pick. San Diego would probably be an ideal landing spot in Taylor's mind.

Our asking price should remain @ least for a second round pick because of Shanes possible failed test

SD would be great if he really wants to be an actor, so I doubt he'd refuse the trade. The question is what can we get for twinkle toes?

Gotta give credit to nyfinzfan for calling it yesterday.

This would be nice. He (NY) also said that they may try trading Vincent Jackson and I would definitely be willing to take him on as well as a draft pick.

He is an All-Pro Special Teamer if he wants a trade it will be to somewhere he could play Wr instead of Special Teams, but if he came here to play Special Teams I'd be happy to have him.

But a #2 pick is much better, Osgood would have to be a throw in.

He said he wasn't happy with his role on ST. I don't know if you have a role on ST other than captain. Do you lol?

He is a top flight "gunner" on Special Teams, he makes plays like tackles and forces fumbles blocks kicks etc.

Problem is, Special Team players besides kickers are not payed very well at all, if he wants to make the large dough, he has to be a Wr to get it.

Yeah I know he is a very good special teamer but I did not know that there was a certain role.

Do you think he could be a good receiver in this league outside of a red zone target?

Could be, he is a large target and can fight through traffic, but there is -0- reason to trade for him to play Wr and then "hopes" he develops, he is typecasted as a Special Teams ace.

I haven't seen a great ST gunner become a good Wr Alen, it may have happened, but not as far as I know.

Same here. And I'd rather give them a 3rd and have Cason than get a 3rd.

Unless SD has another one that I'm not recalling, they traded their 2009 2nd round pick to New England during the draft.

You don't want Jackson! we're better with wilford trust me. I watch almost every san diego game since I live here. You want to talk about underachieving and inconsistency, it's him He had a good post season because teams focused on chambers (who had a monster post season himself) something teams had not had to do with the Chargers. You see, Jackson only excelled once he was the 4th option and even then, way later in the post season.

I don't see how this would work either with Merriman and Phillips. Would they switch Phillips to the inside and bring 3 Backers most of the time? Interesting. Sort of what the Jets might do with Thomas, Gholston and Pace except of course with better players.

The thing about Vincent Jackson is that he is just the kind of player we should be looking at as a team:

    1. He is a hulk of a player, a 6-5/245-pound target.
    2. He is still very young, only 25 years old and 4 years in the league.
    3. He has playoff experience and has been on a winning team (Knows the winning mentality).
    4. He has improved every year of his career.

    rec. yards
    2005 3 59
    2006 27 453
    2007 41 623

Even if he has underachieved for the few years he has been in SD, as you stated, the strides he made last year (particularly in the playoffs) would make a great addition to a weak receiving core. Having a player like him opposite a field stretching player like Ted Ginn, or even taking some snaps opposite Wilford, would make our receiving crew much more competent.

I'm not saying that he is the end all, be all of receivers or whether or not he is an available option, but hey he ain't bad. And I would definitely consider him, in addition to a 3rd rounder, for JT.

He was holding his own earlier in the season before Chambers arrived, lost a few touches due to Chambers' arrival and adjustment not to mention poor QB play, and is still developing. Any team would would love to have a 6'5 guy who runs a 4.5 and comes up big in crunch time and the playoffs (he came up strong late in the postseason not just this past year but earlier when he made a clutch 31 yard grab to put the Chargers up front). Wilford is not better.

we dont NEED him though. If he's a mirror image practically of Wilford why not go for a better player to replace one of the other gaps we have?

Actually I think he's faster than Wilford. But considering we might not get a player we NEED in a trade because of lack of leverage, getting him isn't a bad option. Besides, I hardly believe our WR corps is anything more than sub-par. We have a so-so option in Wilford (who hasn't caught for more than 90 yards in a game in 2 years), a question-mark in Ginn, and people who would be on practice squads competing for the 3rd option. I'd love to lock up a stud CB but I don't think a team like the Chargers will want to give up one and with teams beginning to follow the Patsies and their 3 WR sets, no other team will either.

P.S. If Chambers returns to Miami, I'm gonna shoot myself for not buying all the Chris Chambers jerseys last October when I was at Dolphin Stadium. They were marked down to $20. I could have made a killing.

Also, despite him saying he will only play one more year, when you get on a team as good as the chargers it might incite you to play for an extra season or two or three. Just look at the Pats LB corps. I think all but the rookie Mayo is collecting social security checks.

At this point, I will be satisfied with ANYTHING we get for JT, as it doesn't sound like he plays here next season no matter what. What ticks me off is it sure looks to me as if JT is the victim of Parcells trait of picking a team leader anywhere he goes when he gets there and getting rid of them just to establish his own authority.

IMHO this was handled very poorly by the new regime, JT has said NADA about not playing here, not publicly anyway. So where's the value in announcing to the world we have no choice but to trade JT? it means we get squat for him, first really bad move by Parcells so far IMO.

I just posted over in Armando's blog. I created an account just to rip Mando whenever he's wrong. I wonder how long I'll last.

Anyways, I pointed out SD doesn't have a 2nd rounder, the Patriots have it. SD traded to get the pats 3rd, and used it on Jacob Hester.
