Glad to see Giancarlo got his first All-Star selection. And I still have a small amount of hope for this year, 7 1/2 games back doesn't mean we are dead in the water....yet.

Hell all we need is to get in as a wildcard and the world series is basically ours.

i think the nats will come down to earth a bit. I got sights on wildcard for now. Still a ton of baseball to go however.

I hope you're right, but I'm a believer in the Nats this year. Plus they have Rick Ankiel, which I find hilarious.

Honestly what earth? Nats have a squad top to bottom. They just got Moorse back. Zimmerman has yet to really get going. That team is for real. Their not going anywhere.

Agreed. They're only going to get better when Jayson Werth comes back.

My hope is that because the Nat's are a young team (they are aren't they?) they may crumble under the pressure of holding onto a late season playoff push. All it takes is one bad losing streak.

I could see the Nats falling because Strasburg and Zimmerman could have a tough time finishing out the season. On top of that, Jackson could regress.

It's all health for them, IMO. They are insanely good and if we can't win the division I would like it if they won the division.

The Nats are for real. A wave of injuries could derail any team in MLB. I'll be shocked if they don't at least get one of the wild card spots. From top to bottom they have the best pitching staff in the east. I just don't see the pressure of a losing streak getting to them too much. The Yankees swept them in a big series that was really thrust into the spotlight last month and it didn't affect them. They are young but they have enough vets on the team like Zimmerman, LaRoche, and Ankiel to keep them grounded and focused IMO.

Well what I meant my getting injured is Strasburgh and Zimmerman have never completely finished a season.

I don't want them to get injured but it may be our only way. Otherwise I think it's their division to lose.

He actually has some pretty impressive minor league numbers but never got a real chance at the big league level. It'd be nice if he turned out to be something in a Cody Ross kind of way.

Bell is a disaster to say the least! My goodness! First base open, his curve ball working and he insists on two straight fast balls.

That's the point. Nothing has changed except we're now out of two talented prospects. Domingues was at worst a good corner IFer with pop off the bench, and Rasmussen at worst was a LOOGY with a ceiling as an average #4/#5 starter. Both gone so we could finish 4th place instead of last.

Self awareness would have been nice. We needed to be sellers. Choate, Dobbs, Zambrano, etc could have fetched us a few decent pieces.

I agree but obviously they don't.

I have two issues with this. One, Morrsion will stay in left field. Two, this shows they believe we are still contenders. They might get more desperate and put Yelich/Fernandez on the trading block.

There is no way a team just a few spots back of the wild card in the first year of a new ballpark is going to sell anything.
