I doubt he will ever be a Yankee unless it's in the end of his career. Washington isn't going to let him go.
The pitching is outstanding......keep it going....baseball is such an easy game when you get good pitching.....I think Sterling said last night, the starters have made 6IP in the past 15 games.... The Yankees would have an .800 winning percentage in the NL because they are all free swingers, easy to pitch against, and as well, the Yankees ARENT free swingers, so as they have seen this year (NL teams) the pitcher has 80-100 pitches thrown by the 4-5 inning....
So huge contracts, say min. 17M for Grandy cuz of Either.....and idk close to 20M for Cano I would think.... I can see only 1 of those contracts being handed out....
A patient man would say we only NEED what we have.... A wise man would say we only NEED patience.... either way....it will be!
Great weekend in NY/NJ, and with the win @ CitiField Sat, I am 3 for 3 in watching Yanks in person this season....in 3 different cities (Balt, DC, NY) woot!! really nice stadium too....had a blast with the come from behind W!
Past 20-game's the Yankees starters have 13 wins, 15 quality starts, a 2.91 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and an 8.40 strikeouts-per-nine innings ratio. This is a staff on a monstrous tear. In the month of June: Sabathia has three wins, a 3.30 ERA and a 9.90 K's-per-nine innings ratio Kuroda has three quality starts and a 2.67 ERA Hughes has three wins, a 3.51 ERA and a 9.82 K's-per-nine ratio Pettitte is 3-for-3 in quality starts with a 1.77 ERA Nova is 3-0 with a 0.79 ERA and 0.84 WHIP and closer Rafael Soriano is 7-for-8 in save chances with a 1.29 ERA.
That can't be right, can it? Pettitte gave up 5 runs against the Mets on Friday, were they not all earned? Either way, yeah the Yankees have been pretty ok in June, huh?
You are correct, this past Friday was not included, it was his 4th June start, and not quality at all (But I had Niese in my Fantasy League, so wasnt heart broken....)
What scares me about Nova and Hughes are they are LITERALLY dead last and 2nd to last respectively in opposing slugging percentage... Hughes likes giving up home runs...I would shop him around, see what is out there...
Somebody has to take over as the Ambassador when he leaves..... Speaking of which Fink/BDH, you think DJ stays in the game (whether it be NY or not) after his playing days are over.....as owner/part owner? He always said he wants a marriage and kids after the game, and the 2 don't co-exist...so I can see that happening...
I doubt it. I bet the Yankees give him a nice job and corner office at YS (like they do with Reggie Jackson) but I don't see Jeter being a part owner in a MLB team, if he is, it would be in name only like Jay-Z or Magic are. I doubt he'd be hands on. There's probably a less than zero chance he becomes a manager or coach (unless you want to count him going down to ST as an instructor).
Spring Training Special Instructor and Old Timer Day participant, and at best, special assistant to the GM, President or Owner, etc. most likely.
There would be no point for him to do that. At least 180 days away from home, always traveling, has to deal with the media day in and day out. Stressful job, etc. Plus it's not like he needs the money either.
Kudos to the Yankee fan who put the ball back in Wise's glove after he dropped it diving into the stands........resulting in an out.... thats teamwork right there...
You see the ball hit the ground (well you dont ever see it because of the wall) then you see a fan go down....and then he (wise) comes up with it in his hand smiling.....okay so either him or the fan did it.... either way....great...
Are you on drunk or on drugs? Do your eyes not work? watch the video, Wise never catches it (hits the heel of his glove) and the ball ricochets several seats away where the man in the red shirt is holding it and the guy in olive green shirt points at the man in red with the ball....and at no point does Wise ever hold the ball. Heck the ump (DiMuro) even admits it. relevant quote: "“I went out on the ball and saw (sic..."what I thought") was the ball into his glove in the stands. He disappeared into the stands and I believed that the ball was in his glove,” DiMuro said. “In hindsight, I should have asked him to show me the ball since he fell into the stands and out of my line of vision." (sic...I now see he never had possession of the ball at any point. I blew the call.) Wise didn’t even really try to deke the ump or anything and looked just as surprised as anyone when the out was called, and said as much after the game. Seriously, are you a relative of his? MLB.com has the video, which includes the Yankees announcers observing that Wise did not catch the ball or ever hold the ball.
Wacko........I never said he caught it!! When Wise came up, the ump called it out, was the ball in his glove?
Right, while you never said he caught it, you keep saying he held it or it ended up in his glove. That never happened. Again, Umps blew it completely. No deke involved at all. NO, never...zero seconds....at no point.
So how did he (ump) call him out with no ball in his glove? Edit: he did and then tossed him as well........ MLBN didnt have that video yesterday, it cut to Hughes right after he was called out, so I assumed....
That's why I assumed he had it in his glove (not catching it) because how do you call an out without seeing it in his glove, or w/o seeing Wise throw the ball back to the infield?
You become a MLB ump where screwing the pooch has become an art form - and the rule book is just a suggestion!
Been saying it for a while!!!!! The only HUMAN element in sports should be the players.......the RULES and those enforcing them should not be excused under the human flaws when Technology exists to get it called correctly, every aspect.
Outstanding....probably explains why he hasnt been shutting it down lately... Cashman to promote Adam Warren most likely...Freddy to start Friday... sooooooooo guys I still have 3 tix to the LAST game of the year......think it means anything? wanna go!??!
Andy Pettitte left Wednesday's start against the Indians in the fifth inning after being hit in the lower left leg with a comebacker off the bat of Casey Kotchman. Andy will go on DL (6wks) with fracture!
Pettitte out 6 weeks with a broken ankle on the comebacker line drive from today's game. Tough blow for the Yankees.
