I think Bell is proving BOTH sides.

1) You don't pay a reliever huge money, especially an aging one

2) You NEED a guy who can can close games.

 

Sure you "need" a guy, but the point is that they're easy to find.

Anyone of Cishek, Webb, Mujica or Gaudin would have been fine. They would have been nearly as good as Pre-Marlin Bell and not cost 9 million a year for 3 seasons.

Webb is friggin nasty. I couldnt imagine hitting against that guy. 94-95 mph that sweeps like something crazy, and a nasty slider, especially like the one against posey where he took something off of it and it fell off the table. Nasty, nasty stuff!

Heath bell not in closer role for now until he can "get it right". Will be used in earlier situations (7th/8th) etc

 

It looks like rhythm to me. He's hitting 93+ on the gun but not on a consistent basis. His breaking pitches are there but not on a consistent basis. His delivery looks a bit sloppy to me compared to previous seasons.

Heat and marlins going for sweep today. Best end of weekend EVER!!!! I hope Ricky goes deep into the game. Buerhle going the distance last night was huge for our bullpen. Oh and Hanley was hot yesterday. And infante is our MVP so far.
