Respect for Philbin is there which is great. Shame it doesnt go higher to the clown above him. Nuff said.
Dude the clown your talking about, found his *** in Canada, scouted him, recruited him to come with us over other teams, offered the contract, and had the talent to project the player at a high level, when he was a nobody..
Don't you know logic and facts doesn't apply to this emo fanbase? The ignore list is growing every day.
I'll tell you this Slick if a major part of this fan base doesn't start thinking before the write or speak, and start nurturing the culture with a bit more responsibility, were gonna wind up with the most laughed at culture in football..Wait?
Dang, I was gonna post when they released Merling, that if I were Wake I start holding out again. SMH missed opportunity.
I hope this doesn't get ugly, we need SOMEONE to cheer for on defence with big play ability. I'd rather loose Dansby than Wake.
me neither, so he met with Philbin to maybe explain his position, then continue sitting out..hmm, makes sense, he's grossly underpaid, and I would be doing the same thing, would not play another down for the team under the current contract..
Yep, which means that this: was either bull**** PR by the Dolphins, or Ireland and Wake's agent hit a snag.
I think Wake probably wants to get his point across, but at the same time doesn't want to miss everything. He might just be picking his spots to hold out.
Too bad Philbin doesn't sign the checks, huh? I hope they can work out a decent contract for Wake, but I don't see him getting 10 mil/year, unless they backload the deal just to make it look good.
It makes sense. Even people that defend Ireland know he's not a great people person. Philbin probably just wanted to let him know how valuable he thinks he is and that he really wants him and all the jazz. Like the go-between. It was the same with Sparano though.
Voluntary doesn't matter and Wake hasn't made any real money that he can afford to hold out once the fines come down. If he thinks he's going to land a $20 million signing bonus though he's nuts. At best he's looking at around $12-14 million to sign on a 4 year deal.
I think it is nuts to think he won't at least be close to $20 million signing bonus. He is a premier pass rusher who is only 30.
Oh, you. You love this team so much. I love you, too. But you're silly. Wake has a legitimate reason to sit out. The Dolphins don't have a legitimate reason not to pay him.
oh you you're so jilted. the dolphins have plenty of reason not to pay him as much as he wants. and last I checked, sitting out for more money doesn't sit to well with fans.
Dwight Freeny got what 30 mil signing bonus like 5 years ago if so wake is looking at mega dollars. If he gets it from us is another thing though I wouldnt be shocked if hes traded if hes really looking for that kind of money.
Who relies heavily on his athleticism....which is usually the first thing that degrades for players. When Cam Wake declines it's going to be hard and fast. He isn't one of those guys who will be a premier pass rusher at 33-34. Right now Miami has him by the balls for this season and a franchise tag in the offseason. He really has dick all for leverage here. They can play hardball and make it so he's 32 before hits the FA market. So no...$20 million plus is outta the question here.
Mcam wake is not just a one trick pony pass rusher, yes he is the most athletic 250 lb player in the league, but he plays the run well, can mimick and track in the open field, and I would say he's runnin mid 4.5 s right now..I would say 4 years before you notice any type of decline..His body is rare breed.
I agree with the poor leverage, however I do not agree with $20 million plus being outta the question.
Pretty sure most of the fans have his back on this one. This isn't a Darelle Revis situation. Wake is making only 612K. If either of us were as good at our job as he is and made that miniscule a salary compared to our peers as it relates to performance, we'd have a legit gripe.
Which would be a dick thing to do, and par for the course with this organization and Jeff Ireland. What a GREAT way to get other guys to wanna come play for you.
Right, but if Cam Wake is taking up X% of your salary cap, you inherently are making it less likely other players want to come play for you. Either way this really is a non-issue. Wake will be there once mandatory stuff starts.
