Wait that stuff just doesn't happen in Boston and New York? It happens in other media outlets too? Great to know, I just thought those two cities were the only ones filled with nitwit writers.

It also should be noted that there are no protests outside the stadium tonight nor did any company pull ads from the team based on Ozzie's comments. So yes yet another media overblown thing.

Don't let them get one right though, or they'll let you know about it.

I didn't mean to imply it was common. What I meant was because of the fact that you (especially as a pitcher) get a good chance to work on and show your stuff in the various minor league levels you get a fair shake. As opposed to lets say football where a minor league system doesn't exist. A 15th round pick in baseball will get a chance to make some starts assuming he is halfway decent, a 7th round QB rots on the bench.

I know Morrison was a 22nd round pick. Not sure if there any other everyday starters on the Marlins who were picked rather late.

Let me ask you guys something. How do you feel about where Stanton should be hitting in the lineup? Personally I feel like he should be hitting IN FRONT of Hanley where he will see the best pitches and have the most protection in the lineup.

Let's say Bonifacio stays over .300 for a while. Would you consider flipping he and Reyes? Reyes IMO has more gap pop which would produce more runs if Bonifacio can get on base with consistency. Just a thought.

Yeah thats why I said if he stays consistent. I need to see what his OBP is right now. Seems like hes always on base.

Looking at his stats is actually pretty interesting. Both his AVG and OBP have gotten better every major league season. Some with more games played than others obviously.

Oh even when they're wrong, they turn things around and pretend they were right all a long. Its amazing how many writers wrote the Red Sox off already before they took 3 out of 4 from Tampa Bay and after tonight's beating those writers say the Sox are done again.

Studies have shown lineup protection is a myth, or at the very least, a thing of the past. Pitchers/pitching coaches generally pitch to scouting reports and independently of who's around them. I think it's probably because most pitchers can throw their breaking balls for strikes, etc.

I'd be for it but it's not a big deal either way.

    Mhm.

Any links to studies? Not because I doubt you but because I'd like to read.

I don't think in general protection works (haha theres a good joke in there) but I definitely believe in a situation (runners on first and second, one out lets say) a pitcher is going to try and attack the strike zone with a dominant hitter on deck and not pitch around you.

I think Fangraphs did one awhile back. Try googling for it I'm sure there's a lot out there on the subject.

Guys, I gotta ask, did Miami get screwed on the call yesterday at the plate against the Cubs? I didn't see it, I only heard it.
