What a douche. I can't believe he told Bell he was fired by text. That proves what everyone said about him.

No wait, he told him face to face. I guess he isn't such a douche after all.

    Being sarcastic?

I will say telling his agent he won't be cut and then cutting him after the Jets and Bengals had a need, but filled it with signings has douche written all over it after a player had been completely professional and loyal to the Dolphins.

Come on, do you think Ireland deliberately waiting until teams filled his position before cutting Bell? It was a hard move to make but it had to be done to help the team moving forward.

    Deliberate? Probably not.

    A douche? Absolutely.

Is Ireland really so short sited? Doesn't bode well for a GM. A couple of weeks ago when Ireland is telling his agent he won't cut Bell Miami was looking to sign Peyton that would have cost nearly $20 million a year. He was telling his agent he wouldn't cut Bell when he knew he would have to fork out that much $$$...but he has to cut him after Miami signs R. Marshall, Hicks, Westerman and Garrard?

With all the crap Ireland is receiving from former players about what a douche he is this is the LAST thing Ireland needs to do. You don't think other players are taking notice and thinking, "Yep, Ireland is a douche! I sign with Miami and this is the kind of treatment I can expect."

    A ****ING DOUCHE-BAG IDOIT!!!

    LOL, I love this.

    Ireland says:
The CLB (Chicken Little Brigade), translates that into Ireland swore on the blood of his own baby he wouldn't cut Bell.

Ireland's people skills are holding him back. I think he is an able talent evaluator, he just is a douche as well.

At least now he seems to understand he is pissing everyone off...

And the OB (Ostrich Brigade) thinks other players won't take note of this when thinking about signing with Miami.

    Take note of what?!??!?!?!?!?!?

My god, now Ireland is the only GM to cut a vet past his prime who is making too much money. After telling his agent, "I don't plan on cutting him?"

    This fanbase needs an enema.

Miami is roughly $15 million under the cap at the beginning of FA. Miami trades B. Marshall freeing up more $$$.

Miami needs to cut Bell to free up enough $$$ to sign R. Marshall, Hicks, Westerman, and Garrard on top of the money they were under the cap? WOW!

More importantly Miami's reputation has taken a REAL blow and Ireland cuts a player, limiting his chances to sign elsewhere, after saying he had no intention to further doing damage to his and the Dolphins reputation.

Ireland should be doing everything the right way right now.

I would agree with the fanbase supporting Ireland does need an enema.

A great and recent 2 time SB winning Steeler organization would never do something like that to help free up cap space and avoid paying someone more than they're worth. :shifty:

Bell was a liability in coverage majorly and I have no issues with cutting him. Teams cut players at this point ALL THE TIME and you are acting like every team that needs a safety has one by magic or everyone is pressed up against the cap and won't sign Bell. The thing is that if every team had its safety positions completely filled and he wasn't in our plans, that just means he shouldn't be starting anyway and would make it an even BETTER thing we cut him and didn't pay him ridiculous money.

He is a decent player and a grown man. He will land on his feet somewhere.

How do you come to this conclusion? We're in the start of free agency over a month away from the draft where over half the free agents are without teams and half the teams are still looking for answers, yet you're acting like we cut him the day before the season starts. Sorry Adam but you seem to be grasping at anything possible to help validate your opinion of Ireland just as Joey Porter is using this stuff as an excuse to lash out w/o it seeming obvious.

The CLB is now officially a cult.

They make an outlandish statement, get called on it, then retort with other rhetoric not related to the original outlandish statement.

    It works like this:

Cult Guy: The sky is purple, thanks be to Zigadudu.
Regular Guy: Um the sky is blue.
    Cult Guy: ..........
    ........
    ........

Well thing is, we haven't used the money we saved by cutting him... It wasn't like we cut him and then brought in someone we were trying to sign. While I don't think Ireland did it deliberately, one must question if we really have a game plan this offseason. The timing was odd.

:omg: heaven forbid all those millions he's earned (much of which from Miami) dwindles down to all those millions minus a few thousand. Somebody... quick... call unemployment and foodstamp services for him.

Florida is a no fault state; people get fired everyday w/o a moment's notice yet our fans are complaining about cutting Bell over 6 months before the regular season starts. If Bell is so worth keeping at 4.0+ million (as some are suggesting), then he should have zero problem finding a home before September for a lesser contract.

Saying "I changed my mind" does not erase the lies, or are you a Saban apologist too?

When you are making a promise for the future, reneging is lying.

And if you think keeping a 34 year-old safety for the future is a good plan, I wish you were lying.

Don't take it out on Ireland if you don't understand what allocation of resources means.

It was reported in several places that he told both Bell and his agent Rosenhaus that he would not be cut for cap reasons.

And Ireland pretty much admits as much in the article

Actually if you read it, what it says is that when he first spoke to his agent he had no intention of making the move. It actually doesn't even say he told his agent that.

The only conclusion you can draw from that is he might have said "I hope we don't have to let Bell go, and at this point I don't plan to" which is FAR from saying he wouldn't or making a promise.

He said he had no intentions of cutting Bell a few weeks ago, but things change.
