It looks like my no good brother Randy crashed the party before I did. I don't know why he's the lauded award winning reporter when I'm the one that breaks all the news first. So it looks like he went ahead and stole my thunder yet again by delivering his meager and very wrong mock draft. Look I've talked to all of the General Managers in this league and even had a nice cup of tea once in a while with them. So I know how this thing is going to unfold, don't be fooled by Randy. When the General Managers want to misdirect each other they go to him.

However your pal Peter Kiper is like a fine 20 year aged Scotch, smooth and bold and very very real. You know you got the real thing tickling your throat when you deal with this Kiper. Without further ado, the Peter Kiper mock that the GML GMs don't want you to see...

    1. Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

I think this one is a forgone conclusion. Even all my drinking can't cloud my judgement here, Andrew Luck is a Colt and will have to prove himself against Peyton twice when they meet up with the Jaguars. Now they will still have holes in other places on the team, but for now they have a guy that will hopefully be able to set himself apart from number 18. It's not like he's following in the footsteps of a future hall of famer, that kind of stuff only happens in Miami...

    2. San Diego Chargers - Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

San Diego is looking to infuse some new talent into their core and get super charged with a new quarterback. Enter RG3 who will prevent the Chargers from their notorious slow starts. Here's a guy with great speed, and has a better passing game then people think and it helps that he's taller than expected. Of course this is a pretty lateral move in some eyes as you give up a pro bowler to draft a guy you want to bank on for his athletic ability at the position.

    3. San Francisco 49ers - Ryan Tannehill, QB Texas A&M
Things happen in threes, and the 49ers didn't move up to draft a corner. No, the bounty they paid will land them a player short on experience but long on potential. He's got pro size and the arm strength to make the throws needed and trust me when I say he'll put more butts in the seat than Colin Kaepernick. He gets to land in a comfortable position as the game is built around the run and will allow Ryan to prosper like Big Ben in Lake Tahoe er… Georgia, sorry I mean Pittsburgh.

    4. Denver Broncos - Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
I still firmly believe Trent Richardson is in play here even though the Broncos picked up Mike Tolbert, who is projected to have a similar career path as Michael Turner, Tolbert may end up being the little bowling ball that finds the gutter more than the pins. Enter the most complete back in the draft and a guy that can carry it twenty five to thirty times a game. However Champ Bailey is long in the tooth and is going by Runner-Up Bailey these days Denver really needs to address its corners. Sure they picked up Eric Wright, paid handsomely for him, but he was the 105th ranked corner who allowed 79 catches for 879 yards with five touchdowns… Ouch. If they're not going to get the best running back, they're lucky to get the best corner.

    5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
Sure Marques Colston is the $16,000,000 man, and the Bucs did add Kenny Britt but Tampa's GM has a sweet tooth for guys with soft hands that can handle balls throw his way. Enter Justin Blackmon who is the best prospect at Wide Receiver, remember those great hands I was talking about, check. Competitive, great size, check and check. Josh Freeman could very well be among the 5,000 yard quarterbacks if they add Blackmon in the mix.

    6. Houston Texans - Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
Texans make a switch from an impressive 3-4, back to a 4-3 where two years ago they were not as impressive. However this time they grab a specimen with great size and speed who can play end or tackle. At 6'6 and 281 pounds Coples is the perfect compliment to the franchised Mario Williams. Looking at that line and seeing how bad it could be, it just gives me nightmares, sorry kids don't say bad any more. Let me try that again, seeing how sick that line can be with Coples and Williams on either side could leave a quarterback with H1N1, or the very least Chicken Pox as he runs for his life.

    7. Philadelphia Eagles - Matt Kalil, OT, USC
Speaking of sick, the Eagles offensive line is looking like a girl with an eating disorder… a little light. Luckily for them we've got teams with needs at the pivot, a GM with wide receiver OCD and the Texans set at tackle with Duane Brown. The Eagles can start Kalil at RT and prepare him for life on the blind side when he's ready.

    8. Miami Dolphins - Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
Too bad for the Dolphins they find themselves within the top ten with a lot of different holes to fill. They tried to plug the leaks with gum, but now need to consider reaching for a quarterback, finding another offensive tackle that can keep the quarterback up instead they will help make it easier to run the passing game as they grab the Notre Dame product to easy some of Brandon Marshall's burden. Matt Moore didn't play terribly last year and with some help can put up some decent numbers. They need another playmaker and Floyd with his size can help make that happen. Stay tune next year as the Fins get another top ten pick to address another hole.

    9. Carolina Panthers - Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
The Panthers have some talented linebackers but health has always been an issue at the spot, so they get some more help with a guy that showed up a little more athletic and explosive at the combine. Not only that but he is fundamentally sound and NFL ready linebacker.

    10. St. Louis Rams - Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
Boy did this kid ever impress at the combine, add that and he could be mistaken for the spruce moose, Dontari helps an aging defensive line and invigorates it with size and strength that topped the combine. The perfect nose tackle for what the Rams what to do.

    11. Kansas City Chiefs - Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
They missed out on Pouha in free agency and the mammoth of a nose tackle got yanked out from in front of their eyes, so they'll settle for Brockers… ok maybe it's not really settling for someone with his size and potential, but they still need to address their defensive line even with the investments made the last few years.

    12. Seattle Seahawks - Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
He's got the look of your prototypical left tackle, I even looked in the dictionary and there was his face. One of the more athletic tackles, his stock has climbed since the senior bowl and combine and becomes another surprising choice ahead of the t-rex armed Reiff and the other man from Stanford Jonathan Martin. Just another surprise just like Carpenter the year before.

    13. Arizona Cardinals - Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
What does a former Houston quarterback get you? In line for one from Oklahome State. Who would have thought trading for Kevin Kolb could make your team quarterback needy, everyone put your hands down, it was a rhetorical question. This guy can make the throws, was productive and was able to top Luck when it counted. The only problem is when he calls plays he recollect stories of "back in my day…" to his teammates. Luckily for him they'll be closer to his age on average at the next level. A reach? Yes. A heavy price to pay? No heavier price then finding out Kolb can't win you as many games as John Skelton.

    14. Dallas Cowboys - Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
Value here is too good to pass, the Boys pair up Murray with the most complete back in the draft. Jerry still feeling the sting of moving Felix Jones and eases his pain here with another SEC product, even if he's not from Arkansas.

    15. Detroit Lions - Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
Jeff Backus is on the Jets now, so they take Riley Reiff to anchor the blindside for the next decade to come with a solid Ferentz product.

    16. Atlanta Falcons - Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
They lose Grimes, they gain Kirkpatrick and it's as simple as that. We'll miss you Grimey.

    17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Devon Still, DT, Penn State
Even though they have spent some high picks on the defensive line there has been health issues and inconsistency. So the Bucs add more depth with Still, who'll be productive on the run and will get in the quarterbacks face, just never really getting there, think carrot tied to a branch. He's drooling and slobbering to get at it and will bowl some lineman back if they're not ready. Has a wide body with arms that lock around runners and bring them down.

    18. Baltimore Ravens - Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
Ravens lost their underrated linebacker but will bring in a rush linebacker who has lined up all over the line while in college so will have a good grasp of holes on blitz. Will show his ability to close in on the quarterback, once he's in the backfield he'll drop them in a flash like his name is Wally West.

    19. Chicago Bears - Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
Jay Cutler needs a target and the Bears oblige bringing in a receiver with size and blazing speed, could he be yet another Yellow Jacket receiver to make an impact? The Bears will address the offensive side of the ball and add to their defense the rest of the draft.

    20. Tennessee Titans - Reuben Randle, WR, LSU
Losing Britt doesn't hurt as much as they bring in an athletic receiver who has ability to break away from the corners with his strength and great route running. Sounds like a lateral move until you realize he'll be on the field and not injured as Kenny Britt has been the last two seasons.

    21. Cincinnati Bengals - Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama
While the Bengals could use some help at outside linebacker with an edge rusher who can get to the quarterback, they'll add a middle linebacker that will help them stuff the run in the middle. Hightower has good instincts for the position and good reaction time along with a quick and natural drop for coverage. They'll still need a running back but it's too early to break the bank on anyone not named Trent Richardson.

    22. Arizona Cardinals - Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
The Cardinals have a signal caller after their first pick, now they need to protect him and there's no better man than the one who made sure Andrew Luck stayed on his feet. He played even better last year and showed great positioning because of his good footwork and hands, has a nice pop and can get low. His lateral agility really sets him apart.

    23. Minnesota Vikings - David DeCastro, OG, Stanford
They need to fill up their offensive line, so they add DeCastro to start at RG and will move him to LG to take over for the veteran Hutchinson in the future.

    24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska
Hardworking and relentless is how they like their lineman, even with Keisel steady on one end and bringing in some high priced talent like Langford, the old adage is you can never have too many lineman. Not elite as a pass rusher, but he gets it done by never stopping and will force the offensive line to account for him, otherwise quarterbacks will be relearning their geometry and all about vertical slopes.

    25. Cleveland Browns - Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson
The Browns upgraded their receiving corp this offseason but could use a dynamic weapon like Allen can come off the line quick, and runs some of the pretty and most precise routes you'll see. They've got a dynamic guy at quarterback and receiver so why not create a mismatch with the most dynamic pass catching TE in the draft class.

    26. Oakland Raiders - Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
I guess I can't make my speed pick here since Al isn't around, not a problem the new guy is even more of a jerk. However he needs to Just Win, something that hasn't happened a whole lot around here. Jason Campbell is serviceable as the man under centre but he needs someone to catch the ball, then again maybe that's why they brought in Garrard because he's use to being on a team with no receivers. Since the Browns took his dynamic pass catcher a pick ago, the new Raiders GM take Alshon Jeffery because he wants to show that he doesn't make speed a priority like Al by bringing the best possession receiver this year.

    27. Tenessee Titans - Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississipi State
Now that the Titans addressed their need for a wide receiver they use their newly acquired first rounder and turn their attention to the object of this GM's affection, Cox. Yes when he gets both his hands on Cox, it will really make his day. He'll be hard and strong in the middle, and even if Cox goes outside, don't expect any wilting under pressure.

The Titans GM will also be thrilled with Cox's versatility and you can't say enough good things about the size and power of Cox, I'm sure this pick will leave those in Tenesesse satisfied.

    28. Minnesota Vikings - Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
Kevin Williams is one of the best, if not the best defensive tackle of his generation. He's a bit older now and the others in the rotation have been somewhat underwhelming. So they bring in a big body that will hopefully take some pressure off.

    29. Baltimore Ravens - Stephen Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
They lost Webb to an offer sheet they couldn't match but get to replace him with Stephen Gilmore who has good height, and leadership skills. Tough and aggressive will help the Ravens fill the void at corner.

    30. New York Jets - Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
The Jets need help at receiver as of right now they have Santonio Holmes and Santana Moss pencilled in opposite one another. Both had down years, luckily for the Jets Kendall Wright falls into their laps due to a slower than expected 40 time. However Wright is a big play wide receiver who plays with top game speed and could be a game changer. Though the Jets could use more size at the position, he fits the prototypical mold of Jets receivers in the past.

    31. Cincinnati Bengals - Lamar Miller, RB, Miami (FL)
Now is a good time to have their pick of the litter as they need to upgrade their running back position. Miller has one year of starting experience but he can start and stop on a dime with velvety smooth change of direction that gives him very good cut back ability. He's patient and can follow his blocks, we'll see if he can be as dynamic as Willis in his early years in Buffalo.

    32. New York Jets - Courtney Upshaw, LB, Alabama
Once again the Jets get a value find as Upshaw didn't show up as athletic to the combine, however his game tape is what matters, as well as his ability to lead. Upshaw adds to a growing stable of solid linebackers on the Jets roster.

Good stuff. Kevin Williams is in Seattle, though. Henry Melton is in Minnesota.

    You don't like Nick Perry?!

Man I'd be ecstatic with Perry; you can never have too many great pass rushers.

Remember last year as the Bills when everyone had me taking AJ Green because I had no WRs? And then had me taking assorted WRs in round 2, and 3, and on and on? And I didn't draft one? IJS.

Can't argue with the man, otherwise you may end up repeating a mistake as bad as Gabbert over Newton...

not true, Peter Kiper had Green going to the Packers, and the Bills snagging Nick Fairley and you ended up taking Dareus, in a fitting twist the Raiders last year did take Fairley 2 picks later.

Compared to Newton and Dalton he wasnt good, but would you ESPN gazers check his statistics then remember the team he played on. He didnt have a good year but really it could've been worse.

I don't watch ESPN. I watched him coming out, and immediately told Alen "Holy ****, he's Alex Smith, I wouldn't take him before the 4th"

And yeah, statistically, he was the worst QB last year of those who played enough games.

The same Alex Smith that with the right coaching and weapons was a muffed punt from playing in the SB? Sure I'll take that.

But relative to my team from last year, no way would he be handed the keys to that corvette...he woulda been afforded the luxury of sitting for a year.

I don't regret that trade one bit. He's a very good press corner no matter how you want to spin it. It's questionable if he was poor in zone coverage or if the Raider's defensive schemes were poor. No one in that secondary was good in zone.

You sound like Routt's ex girlfriend, man. You were talking him up when was on the team but once they cut him because of their cap issues... he's garbage?

Oakland is cutting half their team because of poor cap management.

He was poor until 2010, was above average, then poor again. He's overrated. He's not that good in man press, he's an average man press corner.

Of course I was talking him up, someone had to. :shifty:
