Because it's the same archetype as what'shisname and Matt Cassell in Kansas City...It's a middling deal that will keep the phins in middle earth until they redo it. It's a better roll of the dice than Moore, though.

Why can't it be what Seattle did when they got Hasselbeck form Green Bay? That worked out pretty good.

Or Houston with Schaub. Or Jacksonville with Brunell. Or New Orleans with Brees. Or the Bills with Fitzpatrick when he's playing well.

With a quick glance, this is an estimate of the 15 top QBs in the league (in no particular order):

Brady, Brees, E. Manning, P. Manning, Romo, Schaub, Rivers, Vick, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Cutler, Stafford, Rodgers, Newton, M. Ryan

To the question, "Would I be happy with a Top 15 QB?"...when you look at the caliber of even the worse QB on this list compared to what we have had here in Miami? Hell yeah, I'll take a Top 15 QB.

Flynn has played 2 more games in the NFL than I have.

    Let that sink in.

He is a 7th round pick. He is what he is.

I am not excited about him at all.

Flynn has tutored under arguably the best QB in the league for four years. In one of his two starts, he had 480 yards and 6 TD passes. Let THAT sink in. And then you can tell me how many other QBs in the history of the NFL have had similar games to that.

Matt Cassell sucks therefore Matt Flynn will.

We should probably never draft a QB because of the Leaf-Henne-Quinn-Leinhart archetype.

Let it sink in that he did that against the 22nd ranked pass D. Also his other start against the Patriots, they had the 30th ranked pass D. Let's not act like Flynn lit up the Chargers in '10 and the Steelers in '11(league leaders in pass D in those respective years). Are the stats Flynn put up worth giving him a look? Sure, but just remember who those stats came against.

Gotta trust Philbin on this one guys. If you don't..........well then you've already set yourself up for misery long before we can see whether it pans out.

Holmgren had superbowl winning credentials. Philbin has none. Even still, I like Flynn as an alternative, as well. You gonna reach in the first with a rookie when you passed on Mallet twice last year? If Flynn doesn't sign with us it will be a sheitstorm of epic proportions this year...

Maybe you have heard of this thing called putting things into perspective? That's all I did. Never once did I say nothing he has done doesn't matter, nor did I say don't sign him. In fact, I said he was worth a look, but with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I know, it's annoying...I'm sorry. It's a fine line between "there's genius in simplicity" (Walsh) and "the devil's in the details" (Saban). I'm normally vague and short in my posts but I like to think I'm erring on the side of the Walsh philosophy.

    That said...

We wanted Manning, we're settling for Flynn (if we get him). There's a reason there appears to be only two teams interested in his services.

Yes we wanted Manning and we're probably not getting him and don't actually know why. So, in reality what do you want us to do? Not grab a QB at all?

Reality: We'll get Flynn, not a lot of guaranteed money, and have 2 Legit QB Options next year. He fails? Just another on the list. He succeeds? Oh my.

As 23rd says, Competition is the elixir of success.

Draft one. Weeden is a cheaper, better option IMO. He's not that much older than Flynn either. Either way, the disparity in talent.offsets that.

Somebody versed in medievil prose should perhaps regale us occassionally the way a sort of travelling lyre would oft accompany his master...

    OK I'll do it!

(Just imagine the folkish lyrical strummings that accompanied Lemmiwinks as he crept away to freedom, away from Mr. Slave's ***)

A gre - ate adventure is waiting for you ahead

Hurry now old Philbo, your son's already...

Actually, no..I immediately regret my decision

Wannstache and I wouldst warn you noble Philbo that first you must find a QB or alas your journey shall go no further...

That fact that Philbin didn't jump on him tells me that he isn't as high on him as I would have thought he was. That worries me.

we all know that was ross' doings. Flynn would be the first QB we would look at if it wasn't for Ross. Do u expect a first time head coach to speak out against the guy that signs his check? Come on man!

Even if we signed Manning, I would've been in favor of drafting Weeden, provided he fell to the 2nd round.

Weeden has zero nfl experience. He also plays in a system that makes qbs look good in college, and historically, the qbs and WRs DONT look good in the nfl.

Flynn has SOME experience, is 100000% more familiar with ANYTHING Philbin will run, call, audible, practice etc. Because he has done everything with the coach for the past 4 years.

If the choice is flynn and draft somewhere else 1st round, or just draft weeden first round.....i think its a no-brainer we take flynn/whoever we draft 8th overall.
