That is too bad, you can always do the side quests even after main quest is done.

yeah same thing happened to me. I don't fault the game at all for it, it's what we want when we buy it. I'm sure i'll go back and start a new game in a few months and work through most of it again.

I was surprised how much I played after I finished the main quest.

That's true, but I never do. Any free world kind of game, whether it's fallout, GTA, or Elder scrolls, once I finish the main quest I'm done as much as I try kidding myself into thinking I'll go back and play more after I "beat" it.

Just like Penn said, it's my fault not the game. Any problems I've had with this game are my own fault. I've mentioned it before but I have a lot of OCD tendencies when it comes to games like this. I have a real problem just relaxing and enjoying it. I've got to do everything just so or I get all mental.

i think my problem is this innate fear that something I do might cause me to be unable to complete a later quest. Doesn't happen as much in skyrim as most quests aren't necessarily relevant to each other, but moreso in fallout where you're constantly making choices for better or worse. I HATE doing something and having some other quest fail out of nowhere. This is why i try to avoid main quest plotlines because they sometimes eliminate sidequest possibilities.

Also, if anyone has played Dark Souls, the first time I got through it, FINALLY got to the boss, I just couldn't fight him, because I knew that as soon as you did it you were locked into a NewGame+ mode and couldn't go back and do anything else. My roommate would keep asking if I had fought the final boss yet, and I felt ashamed to say no. I even stopped playing it and played Skyrim then came back to Dark souls after and you know what? I STILL didn't fight the final boss. I started a whole new character because I felt I could have done so many parts "better".

I'm a completionist. Don't care how I do it or what goes first, as long as I do everything there is to do. Even worse that I'm a PC gamer. I have to check out each mod...

Yup. I'm at the point where I'm ok with not doing everything. I'm just trying to get through the main quest now. I'm on the last part of the Civil War sidequest and hoping to plow through the rest of the main over the weekend.

All my complaining aside, all in all this has been one of the best games I've ever played.

The first thing I did was the Civil War side quest. That was also my favorite side quest. Followed closely by the Thieves Guild.

I could see how Civil War quest would be a lot of fun if I had done it when the game was more challenging. Now I just run around hacking away at stupid stormcloaks not taking any damage at all. It's still kinda fun. I just try and come up with creative ways to kill people.

The Civil War quest was the first quest where I accidently killed my companion.

I went almost the whole game without companions. I had one guy for 2 quests that did nothing but get in the way and ruin my sneaking. When he died (when I killed him) I stopped. But now I've got Lydia following me around just for fun. I gave her that Sevrine Rose thing so with her, the spectral assasin I picked up during dark brotherhood quest, and the daedra she summons everytime **** goes south, we make quite a rag tag team. I love how the daedric armor I wore until I made the dragon armor immediately developed boobs as soon as I gave it to her...

I just wish I still had Shadomere. He disappeared and I can't find him anywhere. That horse could take a beating from a dragon and not get phased.

I'm only at about level 7 right now. Every time I try to play this game anymore I get attacked by a dragon that I'm not powerful enough to kill. [or there's some secret I'm not aware of] No matter where I go the dragon comes, I played two hours last weekend and made zero progress. This is really turning me off of the game, I'm starting to wish I would have saved the sixty bucks for Mass Effect 3 or MLB the show. There was nothing like this in Oblivion, there's a bunch of crap I want to do and explore in Skyrim but this damn dragon keeps coming. I haven't even been that far in the main quest.

How far do I have to run? If I go in a cave or something will it be gone when I come out? I just assumed the thing would keep following me. I guess running away makes a lot of sense.

Also use your shouts and hire a companion. Both of those help a lot. Dragons used to kick my butt when I first started playing, but they get easier. Pick some flowers and level up :)

Figuring out creative ways to kill creatures that are too powerful for your level is what makes the game fun. Once you get to a certain point, around level 40 or so, the challenge ends. Enjoy it while it lasts.

    I desperately need help.

So I'm fighting Alduin for the first time, and he is kicking my ***. I use the dragonrend shout to get him to come to the ground, but no matter what I do, it doesn't inflict any damage to him Any advice for beating him. I'm level 41 so it's not like I'm a week character.

Beat a week or two ago. Never beat Oblivion, so this feels like a great satisfaction.

When I turned my Xbox on this weekend I noticed there is Skyrim DLC available. Has anyone played it? Is it worth getting?

    Live from the Internet.
So I got it for PC.
I played it for a while on Xbox when it came out, but now I got it on PC and it looks awesome.

Question for you lads, what do you suggest I do with my charachter? Im trying to build a classical warrior, but i'm debating between dual wield, or weapon + shield.
I'll use spells, of course, but more for healing and stamina recovery and I won't really rely on magic as my main source of offense.
    Suggestions?
