I don't see how location is an issue. Manning isnt leaving the team's facilities then hitting the town. He likely is at the facilties 18 hours a day, then goes home to sleep, only to go back to work. Once the season is over he can go wherever you chooses.
We don't know the truth on these reports either. Everyone is arguing over and "going all in" or hoping we pass on Manning based on little if any valid information. I just hope we do sufficient due dilligence make an informed decision and then go all out for whatever plan our mgmt. decides on. I don't believe we've done that well at all in the past decade.
I'd like to have him in a phin jersey, but more importantly I hope that he heals up and does well wherever he goes... unless he's playing against us. Only time will tell, so give it some time. There's too much false information and speculation to be watching the clock on this one for now, in my opinion.
I just want this to be over so the dolphins can look at making this term great for the longterm not for 2 years or whenever peyton breaksdown. If joe is big on flynn sign flynn get a pass rusher get a safety and fix the oline.
No, which is exactly why I said "It's too early to place any blame on anyone...YET." Hell, Peyton might still end up signing here for all we know. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath, fill out your tourney brackets, and relax. It's out of all of our control. No sense becoming emotionally attached to a player until he's actually wearing a Dolphin on his helmet. A real one, not photo shopped.
Why can't people put 2 and 2 together? Manning has met with only 2 teams. What do they both have in common? A head coach who has coached in the Super Bowl. Those are facts, everything else is speculation.
You stating that Peyton Manning is only going to play for a coach who has coached in a superbowl: Also speculation. You can make a strong argument that Peyton would prefer to coach for a more established coach or one who he has personal experience with, but I'm quite positive Peyton Manning isn't saying, "I'm not playing for any coach who hasn't coached in a superbowl." Let's not forget Peyton Manning had this guy as a coach - Anyone is an upgrade.
Put yourself in Manning's shoes. You have 3-5 years left to win another Super Bowl. I'll speculate for a moment here, there are maybe 10 teams this offseason who wouldn't replace their current QB with Manning if he were interested. Meaning, Manning picks his spot. And with that luxury you start eliminating teams for a variety of reasons in order to put yourself in the best position to win in a 4 year window. Of all the teams interested in him, he seems interested in only 2. But rather than applying logic, we get speculation about Ireland, Ross, best cities to live in, helicopters and Brandon Marshall. Yeah, I'm speculating a bit, but it's at least logical.
There goes my theory! At least I was right for 1 day. According to back to back Tweets from Omar Kelly, and Ben Volin, Manning will visit Tennessee AND Houston. Could be false rumors.
I don't disagree with your logic. I think established coaches and people he's comfortable with is a factor that will play. Just pointing out that we're all speculating at this point.
Houston is treading very dangerous ground if they court Manning and don't get him. Dumping Schaub isn't like dumping Moore/tebow or Kolb who nobody really thinks are any good. Schaub is an excellent player and you'd lose all trade leverage after signing Manning.
Albert Pujols, Cliff Lee, Nnamdi Asomugha. There's a link between these three players and how they signed.
Yes. And yes. Pujols was basically GUARANTEED to sign with either the Marlins or Cardinals before signing with the Angels. Cliff Lee was a done deal to the Yankees before heading to Philadelphia. The Eagles weren't even on the radar before Nnamdi signed with them.
I'm sure the $250 million and post career "personal services contract" had something to do with it as well....
ESPN is reporting that Peyton will have meeting with coach Philbin tonight (Monday) or tomorrow morning. Interesting no mention of Ross or Ireland. It isn't about selling Peyton on Miami. Sounds like Peyton being Peyton by putting first things first and seeing if he is a good fit with Philbin and the offense. No sense in talking contract at this point. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...nessee-titans-talk-peyton-manning-sources-say I liked what Adam said about Peyton visiting both Denver and Arizona to see what it was like to be at their facility, but he doesn't need to visit the Dolphins facility since he spent a time there already preparing for the Super Bowl...makes sense as to why no official visit.
Unless Philbin can work miracles, this cannot be a significant meeting without Ross or Ireland. Yes were in the game, but Manning met with both owners in DEN/ARZ.
I usually like Schefter, but man is this guy looking like a total ****ing assclown through this process. Unreal.
Fun Fact: Schefter is the German word for "Chef who cooks bovine feces". It's totally in the dictionary and everything.
I think both are required. The money is going to be whatever available cap space the team has going to Manning and then Wayne, Clark, etc.
Having Philbin there alone makes more sense to me personally. I would rather have Ross and Ireland in another part of the same restaurant or facility just in case Philbin wants to close the deal.
According to the above link, Sherman for sure and possibly Ireland will be at the meeting with Philbin.
Humerous to watch Mort and Adam back track. Adam looked like his lunch money was stolen when he was on SC tonight.
We were the favorites. Manning landed in Miami to meet with Dolphin officials. Manning wasn't here to meet with Dolphin officials. It was down to three teams Miami, Washington and Arizona. It was still down to three teams Miami, Denver and Arizona. Manning will meet with the other two before meeting with Miami. Manning meets with Denver. Manning to Denver is a done deal. Manning flys to Arizona. Manning calls the Broncos after meeting with Cardinals. Turns out Manning never called the Broncos. Manning is deciding between two teams Arizona and Denver. Manning isn't scheduled to meet with the Dolphins. Manning is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins on Sunday. Manning doesn't meet the Dolphins on Sunday. Manning has meeting set up with Philban but Ireland and Ross will not be there. Then we find out Sherman and perhaps Ireland will be there. Anyone following the pattern? There isnt one. Its all guesses and chaos so just chill.
Nobody knows jack. In the words of David Crosby, whatever happens is whatever happens. Don't waste your time trying to predict anything. Pop open a cold one, sit back and watch the circus.
