Not sure if this is old news, but it's new to me. I was looking at Sony's retail site and came across this, a new 80GB model PS3 with a DualShock 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 bundled in. At first, I thought it was the limited edition MGS4 version, but that's being sold exclusively through Konami's site, and the included swag is different. I went to Gamestop earlier today and asked the employees about it; they confirmed through their computer it's a new retail model, and will be available alongside MGS4 on June 12. So for anyone who hasn't picked up a PS3 yet (like some of us poor suckers in the GTA4 thread...) I advise you to wait a month and get this package. $500 for for an 80GB PS3, one of the three best games of the year, and a $60 controller is a steal.
There was speculation about a package like this. Definitely a good draw for people without PS3's or don't mind that it isn't the Gamestop exclusive limited edition of MGS4.
Gamestop's version of MGS4 is different from Konami's edition which is different from this bundle. Sony's really banking on MGS4. Can't blame them at all.

Yeah this was announced awhile back, I'd definitely be on this if I didn't already have one. Can't wait for MGS4, 4 weeks!
its old news but who cares. Not everyone knows about it. I was looking to get a PS3 but was told by others to wait for this great deal. 1 month left
No, Gamestop's limited edition version of MGS4 is exactly the same as Konami's edition. From Konami.com: From Gamestop.com:

i passed on the special edition when i put my deposit down. unless it changes the game itself, then i dont care so much.
I was talking about the game itself, not the console. The console could be barf color for all I care.
if youre talking about the system its only a 40gb PS3. too pricey for a different color @ $599 not including shipping
Agreed. It's probably a way for Sony to clear out backlogged 40GB units. IMO, this new 80GB model will be the way to go.
