Trust me, I've seen enough of Byrd. I live in Central/South Western Ontario and do you know what we see each weekend... Bills games. So I've seen plenty and I know about their defensive woes and I still don't see Byrd as much of a ballhawk.

Don't forget Long had zero sacks against Green Bay and Dallas. Even good teams and lines can have bad games, which is why they lost.

But he didn't win DPOY b/c he was injured and less effective, which I'll have to worry about. It was a pretty even trade IMO (especially with a high 2nd & Nelson added in), although I'd probably give PSG the slight edge in overall. IMO it made us both better and opened more options for PSG while letting me do what I was aiming for schematically.

Now Antoine Bethea will be moved to SS and Byrd will take over the FS role. My cover 2 press defense is getting closer to being relevant. :)

What did you think of Byrd and his 9 INTs and 11 picks in 09 when Buffalo's defense allowed only 20ppg and he was allowed to do more roaming rather than the Bills' 27 ppg in 2011 where Byrd was needed to aid probably what was the worst run D in the NFL (evidenced by his 98 tackles at FS vs only 45 in 09)?

Jared Allen had 0 sacks vs Oakland and the same Saints team that allowed 3 to Long, so I'm not sure your point.

Yeah and Long had 0 agains the Redskins, like I said he's a good player but I'm not rating him as high as you are. As far as the 2009 Bills, when Byrd was on his little three game streak of 2 interceptions a game it came against a rookie Mark Sanchez, Jake Delhomme, and then Matt Schaub (I can't remember if it was his first year starting for the Texans or not). So there's 6 of his INTs. His other INTs, Derek Anderson and Matt Cassel.

It was a good system to let him roam, since it was Perry Fewell, who helped coached the Giants D the past couple seasons. I would have liked to see what he would have done if he could have played more than 14 games that season but even if he was allowed to roam, but I'm not too impressed with the QBs he got most his INTs against. Like I said, good coverage skills but his lack of big plays the past two seasons doesn't really spell out ballhawk.

what are the Jets up to? three firsts... and the Long/Miller trade pretty close... it just comes down to what you are doing on defense.

Wow Houston traded for a RB (Mendenhall) who will start the year on the PUP list and may not play at all...Willis McGahee, who is healthy and will play next year can still be acquired for a late round pick

He put Houston back in rebuilding mode.

Seriously though E has more balls then everyone to make trades. I'm too scared to make any serious trades.

Btw I actually like the Mendenhall trade and the Barwin trade.

I don't understand the need to go from an outstanding 3-4 to a 4-3, yet keep the 3-4 defensive coordinator. I could understand a change if he went with a guy that ran a 4-3, but to just blow them up after what that defense did...

Its his team as everyone says, and if it's what he wants then so be it.

I did what alot of middle of the hill teams need to do more of. Its about winning the superbowl right? How often does Houston make the superbowl, or even the championship game? IMO it was time to try something different.

Wade Phillips has coached a 4-3 before, plus he's been a head coach I am pretty sure he knows how to run more schemes than a 3-4.

They had all the pieces there and were built to win for a very long time, I mean Watt and Reed were just in their first year. This was not a middle of the hill team, especially with the other teams in their divisions. A defense that played well even after losing Mario Williams early in the season, really there was a lot of needless change for change sake.

RE: Wade Philiips and 4-3 - Whats the big deal? His 1 gap 3-4 operates as a 4-3 anyhow. Its not based off of who stands and who doesn't. Plus he plays 4 man fronts.

Except McGahee is older, has a lot more, more mileage on him, and while I like him has maybe 1-2 good years left. mendenhall should have at least 3-4 more starter caliber years

Most people don't like my Von Miller trade, but I turned Miller into Chris Long, Chad Greenway, David Nelson and a 19-spot jump in the 2nd round.
    Not too bad.

When your 20 mil over the cap that's not good and he had to do something. He didn't want to switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 but he got under the cap his defense was best suited for the 4-3.

I think it's more challenging to stay in the confines of what the team really does, if it's more fun to make a big splash and trade players away then so be it but even if you got the Giants they would still go through the same changes, just because a team wins the Superbowl everyone puts on their kelidescope sunglasses and thinks there's nothing to change but every team has their own advantage and disadvantages it's whether you can use those best to your own.

I myself like being shrewd, overtly stupid or a combination of the both.
