Again, if Henne has the ability, but was just in the wrong situation, then teams will recognize it and the market will act accordingly. Hence my intrigue in what transpires in free agency.

He should of succeeded because he was drafted in the 2nd round to be an NFL quarterback. The reason he didn't falls partly on Henning and Sparano, and mostly on him for simply not having the talent and especially not the brains.

IMO there's been plenty of talented QBs who either busted or underperformed b/c of an unfavorable situation(s) they were in, just as there's been plenty of lesser talented QBs who succeeded because of more favorable ones.

What would've happened to Aaron Rodgers if he were drafted #1 by San Fran and went through 7 different OCs in 7 years and played for some coaches who didn't fully prioritize the QB position?

He'll be warming the bench as a 3rd stringer anyways in that scenario. You can do a lot worse than Henne as a 3rd string QB.

Henne was never even accurate at Michigan, hence his completion percentage. Deft touch? Is that a joke? Elite deep ball passer? Where? When? Awful analysis if you ask me. Henne is what most thought he was coming out of Michigan, a strong armed QB with inconsistent accuracy, and terrible decision making.

Hey, if the right coach could've gotten through to Russell and had him fully dedicated, Oakland might still have their 2012 1st round draft pick.

However, an NFL coach shouldn't have to act as babysitter. If Russell's mind is more occupied with both the $ in his bank account and coasting by on natural talent, then that's on him. You can point a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Just you wait and see. Once Henne gets the proper coaching next year, he'll be a stud QB the same way Beck was.

You are dead wrong. Sorry. Henne showed HUGE improvement in his first 3 games. Pity the defense was a joke. Moore took advantage of weaker teams. So what? He BLOWS. Henne is the better QB, any coach will see that.

So Bradford should be succeeding because he was a #1 pick? What you're saying is talent alone is enough for a player to succeed in the NFL? Hasn't that been repeatedly disproven?

Daboll's statement about how quickly Henne absorbed his offense and taught it back to the players might disagree. I believe it was said that Henne absorbed it like a sponge (or something to that affect). Henne was almost unanimously regarded as the most talented passer of the 08 draft and showcased the best passing arm at the Combine IIRC, so I'm not sure where this "not having talent" comes from.

A young QB shouldn't be hindered at all by his HC and OC; he should only be aided by them. If they're at any fault for his failure, then by default that means they've not really contributed toward his growth & development.

Ever notice when someone is trying to defend Henne theres always an excuse that follows? Its Hennings fault, Its the HC`s fault , its the OL`s fault , its the lack of a running game`s fault....Now its the defenses fault.
There comes a time when you have to become accountable for your own lack of positive progress.

4 TD's and 4 INT's with a 57% completion percentage and 0 wins before he got injured. What a huge improvement that was. Really had me thinking franchise material let me tell you.

If you are going to blame anybody but the defense for the loss to the Patriots, you are nuts. Henne did everything he could possibly do to win that game. The TEAM let HIM down. 416 yards, 59 yards rushing, and 2 TDs with a 93 qb rating should win EVERY game. If you can possibly blame Henne for that game, you know nothing and we have nothing further to discuss. Look at facts. Stats don't lie.

Ugh yes, Bradford was drafted with the top pick in the entire draft. If he shouldn't be succeeding he shouldn't have been drafted. And if his team doesn't feel he should be succeeding they should find a new line of work. Henne isn't , remotely close to the passer that Matt Ryan is, nor was he remotely close before the draft. So that's pure bull**** that was "unanimously regarded as the most talented passer in the draft" Obviously he wasn't as he was the 4th or 5th QB taken. Timing is a talent. Ball placement is a talent. Accuracy is a talent. Touch is a talent. He doesn;t have any of that, nor does he have the brains to make the right decisions on the football field, and is lacking intangibles as well. He's not a franchise QB, not even a starting caliber QB, and settling for this type of QB is a loser's mentality. I want to win, and there's no winning with Chad Henne, or Matt Moore for that matter.

yet we stick him in an offense designed for a weak-armed Chad Pennington that relied upon precision, timing, and great accuracy, that under-utilizes a strong arm, and that did absolutely nothing to allow a QB to develop his decision making process b/c that aspect was removed from the game and seized by his control freak offensive coordinator.

Matt Moore doesn't have great accuracy, but you know what---- Daboll did what an OC should do; he designed the offense and playcalling around his QB's strengths rather than forcing the QB to fit a previous scheme b/c he's a dinosaur incapable of adapting to the 21st century or evolving to suit his QB's specific skill set.

Henne was a pretty good deep ball passer at Michigan with nice touch for a college QB IIRC. It was up to Miami to develop it, improve it, and make it NFL worthy, not remove that aspect from his game and treat his big arm as if it were Pennington's lollipop.
Chad became an accurate 70ish % short range passer b/c that's what Henning's plays called for and required from him, and that's what they developed him for. Was he pinpoint accurate like Penny? No, but he was accurate none the less, more so than Matt Ryan in this aspect.

Henne failed to develop his talented, strong arm as an accurate downfield passer b/c that simply wasn't emphasized by Henning; it was discouraged really. "Play to not make mistakes", remember? That's why control-freak Henning would rather call a flea-flicker or trick play deep ball where its success falls on play design and execution rather than letting his QB randomly chuck it deep on his own free will. "Use it or lose it." That definitely applies to passing & accuracy, and it's why we saw Chad's down field accuracy improve greatly in just 1 shortened offseason with Daboll.

Perhaps you should get one first? Only the INT in the Patriots game was "garbage time". The HOU INT came in the 2nd quarter. He had one n the SD game. And in typical loser Chad Henne fashion, he threw one on the final drive in a 1 point game against the Browns. You know, the game where all we needed was 15-20 yards to get in field goal position, but, as you would expect from a QB of Henne's inferior talent... Incompletion. Incompletion. Incompletion. Interception.

Henning's last QB with any potential also regressed in his last 3 seasons with him.
Delhomme was worse in 05 than 04 and worse in 06 than 05, and then with Henning gone in 07 Jake was suddenly on fire with 8 TDs, 1 INT, and a 119 QBR before being injured. So, are all of Henning's QBs regressing, talentless bums?.... Or are there some talented QBs who never reach their potential b/c Henning's offense & philosophy handicap and even destroy them?

Pennington had a great 08 season with Henning b/c: he was a seasoned, established, previously developed veteran ideally suited for Henning's dink and dunk offense; we had the easiest offensive schedule of the decade; we surprised the NFL with a gadget formation; and NE didn't have Brady. But what happened against quality teams and the start of 2009? Even veteran Penny looked terrible.

LMFAO!!!!! Are you talking about the INT when he hit FASANO IN THE HANDS??????? Seriously????? You are going to hang your weak argument on that???? ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That should never be counted as an INT, if it hits the intended WR and they aren't good enough to catch it, it shouldn't count against the QB. This is WAY too easy!

Chad Henne should have succeeded in Miami because he had a year to learn the system, a pretty decent role model in Pennington, and his growth shouldn't have peaked in college.

Take accountability for the fact that QB development & success is highly sensitive upon:
    1. coaching
    2. the offense he's in and whether it's suited for his skill set
    3. the protection he has
    4. the players he has around him.

Your statement doesn't hold a lot of water because Henne didn't come to Miami as a veteran; he came here as a rookie needing development.

    Regarding the above 4:
    1. He failed to receive the proper coaching, evidenced by the fact that his QB coach, OC, and HC were all fired.
    2. its was clearly stated Henning didn't change the playbook or philosophy after Pennington, in essence making Henne a square peg forced into a round hole.
    3. Our Oline was a complete sieve during the 2nd half of 2010 and beginning of 2011.
    4. The 2nd half of 2010 saw a field of WRs & TEs who didn't belong off the practice squad, yet were summoned into starting duty. It also saw guys like Bess who are good in one role (the slot) being forced into both perimeter and even #1 WR duties which are clearly above his ability level. Bess on the outside with Wallace, Moore, Shuler, poor protection, and no ground game is NOT the situation you want to be placed in to win ball games. How difficult is that to understand? You expect a young QB in Henning's run-oriented offense to succeed and make something of that fiasco? I wouldn't expect Brady to, let alone a guy in his 1st full year as a starter.

So does that mean we can dock a TD from Henne then for the Marshall TD vs. Houston since that was ALL Marshall's doing? That is how this game works right?

When Moore had a team NOT playing as a team behind him, you can say that he also proved to be no better of a QB than Henne under similar circumstances.... and you can also say that we didn't get to see how Henne truly compares to Moore when things are going well b/c Henne never had the combination of an offense that was more seasoned under Daboll and a defense to back him up, all while enjoying continuity at WR/TE for an entire season.

Look at what Moore was afforded:
    1. time under Daboll as well as the offense having more experience under Daboll.
    2. An improved defense, one that actually closed out games occasionally.
    3. a full season of continuity at WR & TE with Marshall, Hartline, Bess, and Fasano..... and with the positive addition of Clay, Gates, & Bush to the passing game.
    4. An improved run game.
    5. Freedom to take chances and develop the improvisation aspect of his game.

So what you're saying is the QB position is completely dependent upon itself?

Are you saying no QB in the history of the NFL has been significantly hindered or even busted b/c of the organization he was drafted by and subsequent situation he was put into?

Are you saying there are no QBs throughout history who would've succeeded if they were in a different situation, that they were destined for failure b/c they, themselves, were failures no matter where they played or what circumstance they were in?

That's a pretty bold statement if that's what you're saying.

I cannot say either of them because I do not agree.

All this shows is the difference between decent and bad quarterbacks. With decent quarterbacks you can point to reasons why they did well and with Henne you have to point out tons of excuses.

Moore still played with a terrible offensive line, Bess having his worst season since a Dolphin, the fourth best wide receiver being Fasano as he was the 4th wide receiver constantly in 4 wide receiver sets.

It wasn't all sunshine with Moore, yet one thing I could say is that when Moore was in the quarterback play improved.

Wow, that really does shed light on how much of an impact Henning had on Henne, but it shouldn't come as a shock considering Dan's high percentage of 60 & 70 passer ratings his offenses have displayed over the years. How many 93 or higher QBR performances did Moore have prior to Daboll?

spoken by someone who obviously didn't watch every snap Ryan took in 2010.
It wasn't until the middle of 2011 (with an offense stacked full of talent) that Ryan began emerging as a franchise QB.
You're completely off base to think Ryan is a more talented passer with any better placement, accuracy, or timing.

Ah of course. Ryan wasn't a franchise QB in 2010 or 2009. Amazes me how little football some people watch. Ryan was a franchise QB from the day he was drafted and the Falcon's couldn't be happier that he fell to them. Maybe one day we'll find a QB of capable of throwing 2 or 3 times as many TD's as INT's instead of LT's that lead teams to losing records.

a year to learn what system? the one that was tailored to another QB's skill set? How is that any type of benefit? If anything, that's a hindrance to success.
Don't good NFL teams with the ability to develop QBs have QB coaches for that type of thing? But since we had David Lee, an NFL player with no coaching experience is the best that Henne can hope for, right.

Henne did become an avid film room guy, but outside of that, I wasn't aware that Penny & Henne's strengths were in the same area to where it would benefit Henne to model his game after Penny. They're not the same type of QB and aren't meant for the same type of offense.

Saying his growth "peaked in college" is purely speculative on your part.
If I buy a plant at Walmart and stick it in a closet with no water or sunlight, then I guess I could say its growth peaked prior to me acquiring it as well.
