I'll try to reverse engineer this thing for you.

Looks as tho we are about to sign a 1st time head coach whose claim to any fame is dumbing down an offense to accommodate an inferior QB.

    We struck out with Fisher.

We were most likely turned away by Gruden and Cowher.

We were face palmed by Harbaugh who is now in the NFC Championship.

We held Tony Sporano hostage while we courted Harbaugh.

Ross is interested in selling tickets.

That was a quick run down but.....

How does signing a 1st time head coach sell tickets?

Given the pool we are now at the bottom sifting thru the silt

    the poor house
if we dont win but 7 or 8 games this next season this arguing wont amount to anything becuae we will most likely finish last in the east while the jets and Bills get the better players beca.use our ultra conservative mind set . I just want to get really good on offense and for miami to have a coach who isnt like Cam or Sparano . teams that make bold moves will make more progress then the lets not rock the boat teams

I can't argue this one and won't. I don't know if it will be good or bad though. None of us do and there's no history to help us decide. Unlike Fisher, there is no history to show if a former coordinator will be a good HC or not based on his success at coordinating.

We did not strike out and it is ridiculous to say we did. Not giving in to outlandish demands is not a strike out, its a home run.

They aren't going to be coaching anywhere this season. If we tried to talk Marino out of retirement and he refused, is that a failure on us? No of course not.

    Yes we were. No argument.

In no business is the smart path one in which you fire your top guy without having a plan.

This last part shows what I've been saying about the irrational extremes a bunch of you fans are going to.

No, Fisher was their first choice. That doesn't mean he deserves everything he wanted.

Well, to be fair, Pats fans weren't really buying tickets to begin with until Parcells got there, and even then attendance wasn't very good.

The thing about Ross is, the guy DOES want to sell tickets and he DID appear to want a big game coach. The problem is he wasn't willing to concede certain things that a big name coach would want. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too, or at least that's how it would appear. It also appears that Ross puts unnecessary pressure on himself by the things he says. "I expect to be in a Super Bowl.", "We're going to find the next young Don Shula." Two completely pointless things to say, and we see the result.

Thats why we are at the bottom of the pool looking up to what we could of had.

An owner of an NFL team wanting to sell tickets?

So the barrel consists of Fisher on the top and every other available coach in the NFL on the bottom.

    Got it.

    EDIT: My bad, "pool".

Point being, the fans were wrong.

There seems to be an assumption (overall, not from you specifically) that Cowher & Gruden were each ready to take over if Ireland were gone but Ross said no. So, when he told Fisher he couldn't have control, then it seemed like Ross told 3 big time coaches to piss off. Cowher & Gruden didn't want to come out of the TV booth, every reason as to why is speculation. Bad speculation at that, considering they aren't signed with any other team.

If Ross wanted Fisher to sell tickets but didn't want to make the mistake of giving him control, then that shows Ross is about winning, otherwise he would have capitulated to Fisher's demands. That is just logical.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with the things he said. Why wouldn't we want our owner to be thinking like that?

A pretty girl wants to have sex with you. She demands that before you have sex you have to giver all your money, all your possessions, kill everyone in your family, sell government secrets to China and root for the Jets.

If you say no, then following your "logic" you struck out.

Yeah man the pool we are now drowning in when we had breathing room above us with Harbaugh/Fisher.

Either one of those signings would of signaled to the fanbase he was willing and able to cast Irelands contract into the fire. It would of cost him and then we could be arguing about that when Ireland walked away.

Its was his choice. Many agree with it, many do not.

    First. Hhahahahahahaha wonderful analogy.
second the three candidates for us McCoy philbin and Bowles all are fine coaches and there is no formula for picking the next HOf coach. You just have to go with who won't lose the locker room when things are bad.

One thing to consider is that Harbaugh wanted to coach the 49ers and Fisher wanted to coach the Rams.

EDIT: Plus really, the top of the pool is two coaches?

Its not a reach. Its an exaggeration. Its trying to get you to understand that just because somebody wants something, doesn't mean they should desperately give up too much for it.

You still have never actually explained why giving Fisher control would us win games.

OK, how pretty? Are we talking Pam Anderson or Jennifer Aniston in their prime pretty? Or, just "doable?" And, when you say she wants to have sex, are we saying anything goes? I need to know these things before I could make an informed decision, because I don't have much money, material possessions or any government secrets, and there are people in my family I'd like to kill anyway.

BTW, from what I've read I don't think Fisher made any outlandish demands. He simply wanted more say so on player personnel decisions than Ross and Ireland (yes, I believe they are a couple now) wanted to give him.

    It was this time around.

There was a time not too long ago when just the possibility of coaching the Dolphins meant if selling your momma to get the chance, then the selling price would of been low.
    (reach,exaggeration)

The Dolphin "storied" franchise is being tarnished like NEVER before.

Then why was not giving that to him a bad idea?

Because he has no proven track record of controlling personnel. He also has no proven track record of being a good coach. Ireland,in the one year he's had to do his job without Parcells ordering him around has done better then I believe Fisher would have done. All of that is based on history not a feeling or emotions.

And wouldnt you agree that the majority of that tarnish occured before Ross even bought the team? You know, like the hiring of Wanny, Saban, Cameron, and Sparano? Drafts of Ted Ginn, Jason Allen, and Jamar Fletcher? Trades for AJ Feeley, Larmar Gordon, etc?

Exactly. How pretty. Maybe you give all that up for the prettiest of pretty girls. Maybe you don't for a chick that is just doable. When it comes to Fisher, either he was the hottest girl ever or just the doable chick.

BTW, there's no such thing as a little bit of control. Its like being a little bit pregnant.

    Sigh.

Instead of being purposely obtuse to try and get a rise out of me because you're bored, tell us what you actually think.

Fisher has no history of a good personnel decisions. Fact.
Fisher amassed a mere 6 winning seasons in 16 years as head coach. Fact.
Ireland had last year as his only year to draft and pickup free agents without having Parcells dictate what to do. Fact.
Ireland brought in an excellent center, a decent QB, a solid LB, and a couple of other contributors last offseason. Fact.

Those are all facts. Based on those facts, I don't believe Fisher deserves to over right Ireland.
