That's not a terrible option, but we do still have needs and I like this draft class. If we can't grab a starting RT in free agency or a safety, I think we NEED to use our first on one of those two positions. I think it's way too early to say "no possible chance either one lasts". At this time last year some people had Da'Quan Bowers as a top 5 pick. People had Prince Amukamara going as early as 6 or 7 and he ended up going 19th. I see Kirkpatrick as a top 10-15 pick right now and depending on this weed incident, workouts, combine, etc...he could last til the 20s maybe. Maybe we could move down from 8/9, grab Kirkpatrick later in the 1st, and pick up another 2nd. Then we can move around from there and try and snag Barron. I legitimately believe these two guys are the 2 best DBs in the draft after Claiborne and I think both guys are versatile. I love their ballhawking abilities and physical play. I wouldn't mind trading down a lot in the 1st and taking Barron late in the 1st, then stockpiling on draft picks and neglecting Kirkpatrick. I like him, but CB isn't a huge need with Vontae/SS24 as our starters and Barron could play FS. But, my dream would be to have Kirkpatrick and Barron playing FS and SS. I like that, minus Jonathan Martin. We need better pass protection and he is going to get killed against speed rushers. idk much about Fleener though. From the film I've watched of Claiborne, the guy is a lock down corner and he just straight shuts receivers down. But, there is no reason to move up for a CB in the 1st when our current CBs are Vontae and Sean Smith. I'm looking for Kirkpatrick to play FS.
if I were to take that philosophy and know I could get Dwayne Allen at #2, I would go Decastro and Allen and instantly upgrade our team with the two best college players at their positions by far onto our team.
I really don't even see there being a chance of him making it. Every team above us could use an upgrade at at least one CB spot. Every one.
