The Celtics lose and score 74 points in the process.

Great night. Only way it can be better is if the Knicks had lost to the Wiz.

Knicks about to go on a run to thev 1 seed....

Melo is an outstanding scorer, but I dont think he puts a great deal of effort in playing defense....guess he fits in.

I know Wallace is good. I didnt say Shumpert is going to be Wallace, I said he will be similar. Similar in style of play, similar in what he does well. When building a roster youre looking for pieces that complement each other. Wallace and Shumpert would not complement each other at all is the point I was getting at and they both seem to come with injury risk due to the crash and burn style of play both employ.

Nah this isnt a Gerald Wallace type line: 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting (1-of-5 from deep) with three rebounds, seven assists, five steals, and one block before bowing out with the same knee cramps he had on Wednesday. Oh and Shumpert did it while starting the second half at PG, a completely new position to him at this or even the college level. In his 3rd NBA game. Nah, not good at all.

You forgot the part where John Wall and Nick Young were tearing him a new *******. And saying PG is a completely new position for him couldn't be further from the truth as he played quite a bit of it at GT. Anyways, who cares about the 3rd best team in the division.

Eh nice try. Young and Wall blew up in the first quarter before Iman entered the game. They had 22 combined in the 1st.

He rarely played PG at GT. He handled the ball some as the off guard but rarely took on the PG role. I love how you guys just dismiss the kid when he had the best NBA Combine performance of anyone with the highest vertical and 3rd most bench reps (18 at 185). Ok, the kid is a no talent bum. You all wish you had a gem like this.

not all of us.....we just had a rookie make his debut and have 9 points and 14 rebounds and be a defensive monster as well.

He cost us a camp invite. (Terrel Harris)

The Sixers are just fine without him, leading the Atlantic and most likely winning it this year, while our rookie has looked good every time he's in the game, playing a much more important position. Thad Young and Lou Williams, those are gems. Iman Shumpert, come back to me in 3 years.

For the record, I like Shumpert, but Knicks fans always overrate their players. Shumpert is always going to be an Arron Afflalo type role player.

Irving is way better than I anticipated. He's being forced to focus on scoring because the team around him is junk (love to see his assist numbers with real NBA players around him), and he is completely out of shape, but you can still see the talent. I thought he would be good, but he looks to have potential to be a top 5 PG in the league.

Cavs need to get someone on that team that can score. Irving, Sessions and Jamison have to do everything - and two of those guys won't be on he team next year.

Sessions may be back, as he has years left and isn't exactly expensive.

And as you say he's one of the few who can do stuff on offense.

Of course, all this makes him potentially valuable in a trade too.

I think Gee's really stepped up his game too, and can at least get his own shot at times.

And Irving has been much better (all around) then I expected, and I too think he could be a top 5 PG if he keeps developing.

Yes him. Small sample size as he's had limited minutes with a back strain but he's looked real good when he's gotten in the game. And he busted out the Carlton Dance for the home opener, bonus points.

Irving can be fun to watch one minute, and awful to watch the next. Gotta love rookie PG's. He's going to be a stud for the Cavs though so long as he stays healthy. Hopefully he keeps looking decent when the Cavs start playing real teams. Wow have they played a cupcake schedule up to this point. Wolves need to let Derrick Williams loose. 19 minutes a game? There's no way you can tell me Beasley and Wes Johnson deserve the minutes they're getting as bad as they're playing while Derrick Williams is being a very efficient player.

Im not saying Vucevic hasnt been good. Im saying Shumpert is a potential beast sooner then later. And you guys are sleeping on him.

I agree that Knick fans do overrate their players. Could say the same about a lot of markets, Philly being one of them. Personally i rarely buy into hype. On Shumpert, Im buying because watching him, hes really talented.

With some like Fields or Douglas, theyre more situational players. Fields cant play with Melo on the floor. 13PPG last year pre Melo and a FG% around 51%. Post Melo hes at like 8PPG and a FG% around 43%. Theyre both good players but 2nd unit players.

I miss Crazy Eyes Kurt. That guys eyes always looked like theyre bugging out. :pointlol:

Sessions has been a different player this year - playing smart, improving his jump shot and passing the ball instead of flailing up shots. He and Gee are both different players.

But with Irving here, I would think Sessions will be looking for a starting gig as soon as possible - if he can keep playing at this level, I'd love to flip him for a pick in a loaded draft. Same with Andy.

After using the amnesty on Baron - are there any bad deals the Cavs could take on in a similar deal that may also bring assets? Okafor was the only big one I could find, but I highly doubt NO will be willing to party with anything since they are in the middle of a rebuild.

Yea Shumpert's talented, but I can't see him ever being much more than a more athletic Arron Afflalo. A great defender who can get you 15 ppg. That would be great for a 17th pick, but he doesn't have star potential, which Knicks fans, especially on RealGM would love to make you believe...

Well your first mistake is reading Real GM. I post there rarely and laugh often.

I think Shumpert is honestly more Latrell Sprewell or Gerald Wallace then Aaron Afflalo. He has a crash and burn style like those guys, a lot of athleticism and aggression on both sides of the court and looks like he can really develop his jumper. Better court vision then Wallace, better rebounder then Sprewell but I think his ceiling is there. I wouldnt be disappointed if he became an Afflalo type.

Just watching him tonight hes facilitating ball movement which Douglas wasnt doing all year. Hes not piling up assists but hes bringing a different approach. Very good defender.

Isn't the only point of RealGM for comic relief? And much of that comic relief just so happens to come by way of the seemingly endless amount of delusional Knicks fans that post there.

I suppose. There are plenty of them there for sure. I love my team but the fanbase can be a bit um...spacey. Shumpert though imo is the real deal. Best rookie we had in NY since Action Jackson and Rod Strickland. Good God thats a long time ago lol.

I almost forgot the reason why we got Rubio was because we traded Mike Miller and Randy Foye to the Wizards. Wall has a worse jumper than Rondo. Team has no identity.

Wizards are just awful. Everybody on that team just jacks up jumpers. John Wall is easily one of the most overrated college prospects in my lifetime. People kept wanting to throw around ridiculous Derrick Rose comparisons, I just shook my head. Worst jumpshot of any guard in the league, turns the ball over nearly as much as he assists, and all that speed is no good when he consistently outruns his team down the floor and bricks a contested layup.

Sixers...third best team in the East?

    I say...YES.

Sixers strength of schedule ranks 28th so far...BUT, they are beating that competition by 12.9 PPG per 100 possessions. A good sign to say the least. (Good teams beat bad ones consistently)

#1 in Offensive Eff. #1 in Defensive Eff. Only drawback is they are 9th in Rebounding rate. #13 in PACE suggests that some of the offensive numbers are smoke and mirrors, but their defense is for real.

Yeah. They have arguably the worst half court offense in the league. Saunders looks lost as a coach as well.

I love Wall but he needs to stop running at 100 miles an hour then jumping up in the air without having a shot or a man to pass to. Team is just a complete mess. To me the worst offender on the team is Jordan Crawford. Dude is nothing but a black hole on offense.

We haven't played anybody besides Portland so far, but being #1 in defensive efficiency, offensive efficiency, and margin of victory is impressive no matter what. No idea what that PACE stat is but I don't think our offense is smoke and mirrors. Probably not good enough to be the best offense that it's ranked now, but certainly a top 10 offense. For the first time in years the Sixers actually have a half court offense, while still being one of the best fast break teams in the NBA. No more awful iso ball that we've been playing since the Iverson days.

Crawford is awful this year, and sucked last year too. He has no jumpshot to speak of either. I think Blatche is the worst this year though. How the hell is it even possible to shoot under 40% as a big?

PACE suggests how "fast" a team plays. It tells you how many possessions a team gets per game. The higher the PACE number, coupled with your OFF. Eff. number, tells you how good an offense really is.
