Matt Moore by season: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Moore_(American_football) 2007 Seattle finished that season 10-6 and made its 5th consecutive playoff appearance, so it's not as if Seattle was a walk in the park for Moore. Tampa bay wasn't necessarily a slouch either seeing how won the division. 2008 Did not play due to being placed on injured reserve. 2009 2010 I remember some of the snide remarks by some who said, "Matt Moore, delivering 1st overall picks since 2010." Yea, how fair is that of an assessment when you're benched for playing the week after suffering a concussion, play three games later and then being sidelined on injured reserve for the remainder of the season? If one actually takes the TIME to truly look at someone's performance history, logic dictates that Matt Moore is indeed starting material. He demonstrated his abilities on Carolina when being called upon and has continued to do so in Miami.
So Moore has essentially been tossed around his entire career. He has never gone into an offseason getting all the focus of the coaches knowing that he would be the starter based on that wiki entry.
Yep, save for 2010, but in NC John Fox had been deballed the way Sparano was, everyone knew he would not be back going into TC, couple of injuries on the lines at DT and OT, and that team just was..bad...he never had much of a chance that yr. Could be dude is a backup Qb, but he's never been given "you da man" treatment in the NFL.
His stats (not necessarily record) as a starter are pretty darn good. His numbers when he has to come in off the bench are not however.
I think that's mostly true. Though advancednflstats has Henne in the top 10 in deep %, which it defines as attempts over 15 yards. But Moore is ahead of Henne. I think Henne was beginning to attempt more deep passes this year. The offensive players and Daboll seemed like they were still trying to figure each other out the first part of the season. I'm not a big Henne supporter. But I think its kind of a shame that he wasn't able to get more time with a new offense.
Well I think Henne was really good at the intermediate routes (15-20yds), but it was the throws that had to go more than 25 yds in the air that he really seemed to struggle with if he had to put air under it. He did seem better at it this year in limited time, but who knows how it would've been if he hadn't got hurt.
