That team is going to be a player in the East imo. They still have work to do obviously, but with Deron Williams, Howard, and one of the most effective scorers in the entire NBA at PF in Nene, they have a very good team to build around.

Hmm, would appear the cryptic twitter message of earlier in the day should have said:

"I did not know until this day, that the real goal was...d12 in Brooklyn"

Once Howard lands in NY/NJ..watch..Paul deal back on...:shifty:

The one thing I do not yet understand about all of this is the Magic eating 62 million dollars of Arenas's salary, and still losing Howard, that makes -0- sense, and it had nothing to do with Baby Davis going to Orlando, normally when a team eats that much money:

-waived player was caught molesting border collies

    or

-they had a major move in mind.

Unconfirmed early morning reports are saying the deal is done and will be announced sometime on Saturday for Paul to the Lakers. Not sure what the revised deal is but the principle pieces are still moving.

Pending Dan Gilbert's approval, of course...

Also, I thought this .gif was ****ing hilarious.

I imagine the Lakers turn their attention to Howard full bore now if the Paul deal is indeed done. Mitch Kupchak has a plan B too in case Howard ends up elsewhere.

I highly doubt a deal for Paul will depend on Gilbert's approval. Despite having an opinion, he doesn't have enough sway on the issue.

Clearly a joke considering your team's owners propensity for whining like a three your old whenever anything else goes down.

Only way the Paul deal gets done is if it doesn't leave the Lakers with enough space for Howard.

I don't recall Dr. Buss writing letters to the commish because the other teams weren't run as poorly as is, do you? And considering the bellyaching you have been doing about how this was originally an unfair trade (despite literally HUNDREDS of reports to the contrary), I wouldn't be casting stones. Although your trepidation for what L.A. is about to pull off is noted.

That is sort of the concern in Laker land too. Not so much that the Lakers are going to have to give up anymore, but West going to Boston before the revised Paul trade essentialy screwed the Lakers out of the big trade exeption they were going to use to absorb the Hedu contract in dealing with Howard.

They still have a major piece in Bynum that they can cough up and a smaller TPE from the Sasha trade to help secure some depth in a seperate trade. But now, they will have to hope Orlando will want Bynum and a few expiring contracts to part with Dwight/Hedu. Much more complicated now. I would say that the Nets probably have a decent shot at Howard almost all by their lonesome, depending on if Dallas got a TPE for Chandler or not (conflicting reports but last I read, they did not).

Heh, does not have to, the minions on ESPN's networks do it for him.

Waah! why you veto crappy trade? waahh...approve trade! waah we deserve the right to trade a old guy and a bag of rocks for a star waah the league is better when we matter waah!

Apparently, D12 is looking at LA/Dallas/NJ

I'm only aware of two instances of "whining." And even still, one of those was a private correspondence about a team which Gilbert is part owner of.

The bigger issue here is not Gilbert's whining, but that the league really shouldn't own the Hornets (something the great Phil Jackson alluded to last year).

  11. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Again, marginalize all you want, but if the Lakers don't have a secondary trade lined up after the Paul trade...its a LOUSY trade for the Lakers. The Hornets actually make out pretty good. Scola, Odom and Martin to pair with Ariza and Dragic and Emeka for their top 6 players? That is a playoff team. Depending on how Dragic progresses, maybe even a higher seed. People assume just because Paul was on his way out that the Lakers are pulling the wool over the eyes of everyone. The reality is that they are blowing up the most dominant front line of the past four years for an oft injured point guard with no reassurances that he will even re-sign, let alone land them their real target in Howard.

Lamar is the reigning sixth man, and Pau is a multi time all-star and NBA Champion who just killed the Euro League dead over the summer. He has a ton left in the tank. But again, keep villifying the Lakers for playing by the rules and working through every roadblock the league puts in their way.

At least Gilbert didn't type this one in Comic Sans this time. And two instances within the past 18 months or so. Lets not lose track of the timeframe. Prior to then, Gilly was more than happy to spend money like a drunken sailor in a whorehouse since his meal ticket in LeBron guaranteed him a return on his investment. Once LeBron bounced out, Gilbert is claiming poor and unfair because the big bad teams that are actually good and spend their team's money wisely are winning and his team is getting blown out by 50.

The guy rivals Sterling for one of the worst owners in sports and his team should be contracted, along with his other team, the Hornets.

An old guy and burlap sack of mediocrity will always be what it is Sam, the fact those dummy GM's were begging Stern to approve it highlights how most NBA GM's are morons, with about 10% of th league who actually are sharks in the guppy tank.

Cannot believe I agree with Stern on this, however NOLA clearly needed more future upside out of a Paul move, a one time 7th seed, if that means absolutely nothing at all and the team would be real danger of being contracted, but still, that is no reason to giveaway CP3 while doing so.

Nonsense, Jujubee eating Odom is quite simply, to damn lazy to be much more then a 6th man, putting him into the starting lineup in a place where he does not want to be is not exactly going to help matters along.

Stern is the ultimate roadblock, LA can do what it will, if Stern does not want to play ball, they are whistling past the graveyard.

He's still willing to spend money, even with LeBron gone.

As for being one of the worst owners in sports, I have no idea, I don't actually know enough owners to corroborate that statement.

I disagree about either NOLA or CLE deserving to be contracted though.

  15. Samphin

I should know not to argue with a robot.

And yes, the NBA severely needs contraction. Cavs and Hornets are junk teams at this point, mainly due to their lack of owner/quality owner. I would throw two other teams onto the heap as well.

It's a crappy proposal. Bynum for Howard..just as crappy.

Unless the guy being traded for D12 is a perennial all-star..it's a crappy proposal.

Because there is no center in the league who has skills marginally close to Howard. He is undoubtably #1. Unless Orlando is getting Kevin Love or Blake Griffin in return it's a ripoff.

Well it's a lot less crappy than the Bynum proposal. At least Lopez is a 23 year old 20 ppg center. Bynum's career is pretty much done at this point. He's always going to be injured.

Bynum's creer is pretty much done? LOL!

Oh man, that one made the sides hurt.

And being a 20ppg scorer on a ****ty team is easy. Just ask Monta Ellis. The skillset is better with Bynum.

But I do agree, the package i sbetter with New Jersey, currently.

Yes, his career is pretty much done. Bynum is never going to amount to much, and will retire at an early age. His knees are almost done. And knee injuries are devastating to bigs. I see no reason why the Magic would take that chance, especially considering they have better options.

His knees aren't as bas as you make them out to be. THAT is why it is laughable.

In othe rnews, it now appears that the Rockets are having to give up more and the David West S&T is STILL on hold because of this. Stern needs to get off his troll *** nad make a final decision PRONTO. If he had just allowed this thingto happen (like it should have) all of the other pieces could have fallen into place by now.

Exactly, when was the last time the Lakers were willing to deal young talent?

They usually, don't, and NOLA and Hou are going to discover the Horace Grant fallacy.

Oh sure. Knee injuries and surgeries every single year since 2007, after having already suffered knee injuries and surgeries in high school. Torn MCL, torn meniscus, dislocated knee cap, hyper extended knee. Countless surgeries and other operations. No problem here. Lucky to play 50 games in a season, but who's counting right? Forget about the fact that Bynum is 7'0" 285. Knee injuries are not problematic at all for bigs.

So, the leatest is that the Lakers are briniging back a couple of players from the Hornets in a sign and trade. Marcus Banks (who Kupchak has had a hard on for for a decade) and C Jason Smith. Purely bench people, but satifies Stern's absurd request for the Lakers to bring back more salary I guess.

And Howard WILL NOT be traded before the Paul business is settled. I don't think the Nets even believe he is going to New Jersey since they UPPED their offer to Nene. You don't do that unless you think Howard goes elsewhere.

The Rockets are my new second favorite team once this gets sorted out. Their patience and dogged pursuit of their plan is admirable. If they can't land Nene to go with Pau, here is hoping they can pry Marc Gasol form Memphis and team the brothers up at the 4/5.
