That is Jacory...down to the body as well... You're a for real Canes fan R+R, no bowl game, down season, and on a Friday evening. I'm glad Jacory is leaving and Al Golden is staying, now it remains to be seen if his recruiting classes are smarter football players then the Harris/Benjamen classes. Chickillo is a keeper.
Al Golden seems to just get it. He knows we need much better football IQ and better strength and conditioning. And I agree. Those are the 2 worst problems with this team. That and the abysmal players we have in the secondary anyways.
Just to many dumb dumb plays R+R, I think some of those guys will go onto be good NFLers, but Shannon just sort of ruined them as NCAA players.
Pretty much. Shannon's bad coaching ruined a lot of these players. Guys like Travis Benjamin, have all the talent in the world, just need some good coaching.
I hate to add on to the misery, but some of those INTs were super athletic. I can't believe that ghost LB straight outran #3 and stiff armed him And another pick. Time to bench Harris. Move on already
Thank God Harris is a senior. Good ****ing riddance. Get this 2008 "best recruiting class ever" out of here already. Bunch of low IQ, soft, no heart bums. Well, aside from Spence and Brandon Washington. Streeter has seemingly turned the corner as well. Everyone else in that class, **** off.
Back to the Al Golden contract extension. One thing this tells me, is that we're looking really good from a sanctions standpoint. No way he signs an extension if it weren't.
Per AllCanesBlog, that #1 recruiting class? 29-22 Did they win a single bowl game? I wouldn't have boo'd Jacory, I thought he had a bad game and was a mediocre Qb overall, but I also thought he was a class guy he gave it what he had to give.
I don't think we'll miss him one bit. Preston Dewey and especially David Thompson (if he doesn't go the MLB route like most are expecting) are very talented freshman. Plus Morris and Williams. And Crow coming in as well.
I meant next year. A true freshman isn't gonna start for us next season. Although I do like Dewey...Crow seems to be underwhelming, though.
And hopefully Miller stays, although that's kind of selfish of me. But him, James, Clements, and Duke in the backfield next year would be awesome.
I could easily see a True Frosh starting for us next year. Preston Dewey is ready to start right away. His accuracy, mechanics, and decision making are terrific. He's been getting terrific coaching from Ty Detmer. Thompson is darn good as well, maybe even better than Dewey, but will be a top 5 pick in the MLB draft. Crow, will need a couple years of coaching. Has all the physical tools, but that's about it.
I'd toss Morris out there no problem, the real problem is will Al G be able to coach up the remnant of Shannon's Merry Morons who are still here? Golden does not have time enough to move enough of them off of scholarship and have good players ready to replace all of them without having an even worse season next yr.
What scares me is how many of those Merry Morons are still in the secondary. Ray Ray, Telemaque, Kacy Rodgers, Brandon McGee... None of these guys can cover passes worth a ****.
I read somewhere that AJ Leggett looks like he can play immediately. I wouldn't be surprised if he got considerable playing time next season...god knows we need some new blood in the secondary.
Starter as a true frosh as far as I'm concerned. And I'll say he's better than Tracy Howard. Tracy Howard has all the measureables, but on the football field, AJ Leggett is straight stud, is a true Cane, and has done a terrific job academically to be able to attend Miami. Had two pick 6's in his last playoff game.
Hearing Ray-Ray maybe going Bye-Bye to the NFL. Secondary, Dline was pushed around by weaker opponents, Harris throwing int's in bunches, Benjamen botching kick returns. It was as if only the most physically talented guys, like Hankerson or Miller or Streeter, ever did very much at all.
We can only hope. Talk about one of the most overhyped players to ever step foot on campus. Sean Taylor my ***. Aside from a few big hits, he's been practically useless his entire career. Pretty much a carbon copy of Taylor Mays. Big hitter that's dreadful in coverage. Only difference is Mays actually produced in college.
The whole secondary forgot Rule #1 of playing Defensive Back: "Always know where you are supposed to be on every play, know your assignment each time, every time"
Again, you had no clue if it was going to happen. Your demands that it was a non issue were the reason why i spoke up.
I'll be so glad to see Benjamin the hell off this team. Idiot plays hard when he wants to and that has hardly been seen all season. Good f'n bye
Of course they will miss him but.... I don't think the team will miss him that much. Look at how much he improved under this coaching staff. I think UM will be better off without him in the long run. Remember this team went 6-6 so it wont be too hard to duplicate that.
That's exactly correct. As much of a disiplinarian that Shannon seemed to be, its all the guys he brought in who STILL freelance way too much once the ball was snapped. Then sit there and argue with each other after a big play goes to the spot they just left....
I honestly think they simply did not know what to do Ozman, they were a man to man group under Shannon, and freelanced, they played more zone with Golden, and were simply not trained enough to pull it off. OmarK was whining about the Zone coverages, what that dimbulb doesn't grasp is if they play more zone in College, they become higher draft choices as they have added Football IQ to that athleticism. BTW... did I hear it right? FSU lost to Harvard today?
I'm not sure how I like D'Onofrio but after 12 games i cannot buy that they just don't know what to do. Zones are not that diffucult to grasp and even in man, these Safeties would still be lost. Yep, FSU lost to Harvard 46-41
I told you a contract extension was going to happen. And it did. These rumors had no legs. Nothing more than Les Miles to Michigan bs. Non issue from the get go.
