Would be a nice fit for the Bears, but for a team with J.P. Losman as its backup heck ya I'd have some interest.

Any other players likely to be waived, perhaps on the OL?

Well no draft picks needed now. All we have to do is pay his salary.

Funny how things work out sometimes. What would we have given up to get him, in both draft picks and money? And, in all likelihood we never would've known what we had in Moore.

Nah, they're in tank mode IMO.

There may have been an incident as well. Who knows.

Perhaps Orton would have put up the exact some numbers over a 3 game stretch.

We didn't unearth a superstar here. Orton, Moore and Henne are all basically the same player. Back-up QBs who are talented enough to have really good stretches here and there

Maybe not. Too early to say IMHO re; Moore. BUT...I go back to my first question? What would we have given up (in a trade) for get a guy that was eventually cut?

I never advocated for Orton. Thought it was a waste of picks and money, but he has had a much better career than Moore.

We'll disagree on Moore, but it's not too early for me to say he is a nice backup/spot starter. If you are counting on him to be much more than that realize you are getting Orton/Fitzpatrick, not Brady

    Schmo,

I'm not proclaiming Moore as our new franchise QB, and I'm not saying you advocated for Orton either. I'm just saying I'm glad we didn't trade for Orton. That said, I think we need to give Moore a chance, which he'll most definitely get as long as we don't do something as stupid as, oh, I dunno...claim Orton and anoint him the starter. Which is exactly what I would expect from this GM. Hope I'm wrong.

If I'm not mistaken, he doesn't get paid if he doesn't get claimed. I'd certainly take him if he cleared waivers. I get the sense he's going to the Redskins however.

Actually, I don't think that Martz offense is good for Orton...he simply doesn't have the arm strength or will to stick in the pocket and get the snot knocked out of him play after play....

Now, I would think that he'd help Indy out, although that O is certainly more complicated for him to learn, but if they don't it's a sure sign that they are bound and determined to win the SFL campaign...

As for Orton: Chicago, Houston and KC should all be looking at him. San Francisco may not be a bad landing spot either given that they are winning despite the fact that Alex Smith can implode at any moment. Matt Moore is just as good or bad to be honest for our purposes.

Unfortunately for them Elway is right. Tebow does suck and their team is winning in spite of him. Good for the fact that they beat the Jets thought and tried to help us Suck for Luck when that seemed possible

For what ?? To ride the pine here behind Moore, who happens to be on a once-in-a-career run ?? No need, I'd rather re-enter the SFL campaign than sign Orton and hope for something less than mediocrity....

Sure, because I'd rather have Orton riding the pine instead of JP Losman.

I don't even think about him at all, not even as a backup to whoever will be our starting QB next year and i don't think he wants to be a backup! Remember when he demanded a new contract worth 8-9 million a year, if he gets traded, that was ridiculous back then and even more ridiculous right now! He should be happy to find a backup job somewhere else next season!

Yes i think so too and wouldn't surprise anyone, but it would be surprising if he really goes unclaimed! Not sure if it would be funny if we got him, imo it would prove the fact that this front office has no clue at all! :pity:

His entire year's salary is already guaranteed by the Broncos. If no other team claimed him, they still have to pay him. Same as us, on a much smaller scale with Benny Sapp.

We should claim him and see what he has. After he leaves at the end of the season we get a comp pick. If we are lucky its a 3. Do we not spend a mill or 2 just for the draft pick??

Now that is an idea seriously worth considering. He signs elsewhere this coming off season and in 2013 we may get an extra 3rd rounder out of it. If Moore keeps playing as well as he has lately, Orton would never see the field though, so we really wouldn't know what he has, most likely, anymore than we do right now.

Thanks for the clarification! Since he's already paid for, I can't come up with a good reason to keep Losman.

I think whichever team claims him assumes the remainder of his salary, it is just the Broncos' obligation to pay him if he goes unclaimed.

No doubt theyll put in a claim, but I think theyll have a hard time getting him. Tim and Pat on Sirius said the Bears are 30th on the waiver wire. Someone before them will claim him for the million bucks only that theyre going to have to pay him. That's according to Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan anyways.

I could see KC trying to get him, Indy should... but with them in full blow SFL mode, that wont happen.

Good for Orton, he can sign with a team that is possibly contending. I still think he's as good or better than anyone on our roster but the timing isn't right and we just don't need a vet like him at this point. I still would have liked to have traded for him in the offseason but his contract demands were just too high to make it worth the risk. I'd rather have Orton than Tebow to be honest.
