I've know of 3 people that have tried it. 1 is still not smoking 8 months later. The other 2 went back to it.

No it just didn't stop the cravings. I must say though 1 of them have a hard time when it comes to having drinks, which is my problem too. I have tried many different methods. The chantix one though seems to have about the same success rate as anything else. To mee it would really depend on if you insurance covers it and at what co-pay. It is pretty expensive, so if yours does cover it, give it a shot.

I know 2 people that took chantix, one quit and the other didn't take it like she was supposed to, so she's still lighting up. Any drug is going to have side effects, I think I would rather have bad dreams than lung cancer. JMO though

I agree. Because cancer is forever. Dreams just last while on the pills.

Since Texas musician Carter Albrecht's bizarre and tragic death, concerns have surfaced about Chantix, the stop-smoking drug he was prescribed. Those closest to Albrecht believe the drug contributed to his death.

Here is a little nore info

Complaints about the drug Chantix continue to mount.

The Food and Drug Administration announced last week that they are now investigating whether the stop-smoking medication is safe.

Now News 8 has learned the number and type of side effects might be far greater and more deadly than previously reported.

After an initial report on Albrecht's death, News 8 requested, through the Freedom of Information Act, all the complaints filed with the FDA about Chantix. A computer disc was sent with 5,157 complaints, which were all filed in just one week after the News 8 report aired.

Suicide was reported 55 times. Suicidal thoughts were mentioned in 199 cases and 417 people complained of depression.

There were hundreds of mentions of anger, aggression, amnesia, hallucination and homicidal thoughts.

Even before Albrecht's death, the FDA said they had planned an investigation based on complaints in Europe where Pfizer sold the drug as Champix since 2006.

Rathbone said it all reinforces her commitment to warn Chantix users to beware and be aware.

The FDA is urging doctors to carefully monitor patients on the drug. People should also report side effects to the FDA.

What I saw was on TV last night so it is newer than this but it was along the same lines about it being bad for you and that it may be pulled.

 thanks for all the info! I was reading more about it online. I dont know if I will take or not. Pfzer states 3 million peolpe are currenting taking it, and the numbers you posted are small compared to the people taking it, but I still dont want to be one of the stastics.
