http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...east-popular-coach?module=HP11_headline_stack I wish they listed some reasons as to why.
Its funny that it ended up like that because every year the NYG have no trouble getting free agents to sign there and his players willingly play hurt for him. Its got to be partially perception about what he is now vs what he used to be like at Jacksonville. He certainly isnt afraid of confronting players who make mistakes so maybe thats part of it. Having heard Coughlin's radio show a number of times, Id guess that he probably wouldnt want those players who dont want to be coached by him anyway. What matters is that Eli speaks well of him.
I can't wait till his tenure is up. Players don't even play for him and they dislike him. So long Sparano and thanks for all the losses.
Considering this poll was taken midseason and Sparano has been on the hotseat since then, I don't think this is all that surprising. And it's not like everyone on this list is an awful coach. Belichick was right after Sparano, and guys like Jim Harbaugh, Rex Ryan, and Jim Schwartz are on here too. One thing I think all the guys on this list have in common is that they hold people accountable. Well, everyone at least for Pete Carroll. That guy sucks.
Hes in company with Coughlin and Belichick. Not exactly bad company to be in. This research is clearly flawed when you consider that anyone ever wants to play for Belichick.
They only polled 111 players.........how were they picked. I wouldnt want to play for Sparano either. He is a loser of a coach without Chad Pennington.
Funny how everyone in the locker room loves playing for Sparano but hates Ireland, but a handful of players outside the organization don't.
Dumb poll that is very flawed. Even Randy Moss wanted to play for Belichick. Meaningless for us anyway as Sparano is a goner in early January.
Who'd want to work for a guy who is going to be fired ?? It's obvious this is going to happen. Coughlin has a rep as being a hard azz coach... He also has apparently told some players some things and then not done them in the past. However, he gets my vote because he prevented the pasties from going undefeated a few years back... It was a bit surprising that BB was so high on the list...might have been all afce players ?? The number of votes is only 111 players out of the nearly 2000...not a very good sampling for a valid poll, imo...
It is regularly said the players love playing for Tony S. but they STILL dont/ CANT win for him. Maybe they like not being held accountable. Just go out there and play. Don't worry about the results. If its not good enough, no biggie.
The Dolphins are also known for being a pretty "No Fun" type of coaching staff. Everyone who leaves here says its a tough atmosphere here. Its not a fun day in the sun like it is playing for Rex Ryan. You can't talk to the media, when you day you can't say what you want to say or you'll get fined.
Omar Kelly had someone from the Bears say it was because the team was losing and therefore wasn't a good situation. It's not so much about style, demeanor, etc. It's that he's a dead man walking. Though PL makes a good point. That really doesn't seem to be the case. I think the players quit in Week 17 last year and we should have made a change. But I think it's pretty clear they've played their asses off for Tony in 2011. Do not confuse ineptitude with a lack of effort. One is not necessarily indicative of the other.
I wonder what would happen if the question was witch Nfl owner do you least want to play for? I think Ross would win that one, especially all the embaracing moves and negative news he has generated in Miami.
well that should say a lot buti would not wantto play for sparano nor would i want to play for Billicheat I could see me playing for Coughlin even thoughhe isnt as savy as Billicheat . that article the fan remarks didnt have much on sparano but Parcells was mentioned a lot and fans were calling the players as cry babies. Players have a right to voice their opinions too. it should say more to how players like or dislike Tony Sparano when Ronnie , Ricky and a couple of others bolted quickly .
Beyond the obvious of playing for a team with a dismal record and a coach pretty much guaranteed to be on his way out, I think Sparano's conservative fist-pumping FG style of play would not be appealing to players. Another factor may be players may generalize and not want to play for Miami as an organization given the drama surrounding the team going back to the off season Harbaugh courtship. And perhaps most damaging of all is the "Suck For Luck" fans whom claim to have the Dolphins best interest in mind. But for players around the league, I can't imagine wanting to play for a fan-base that is rooting for their team to lose all of their games for a draft pick...PATHETIC! The SFLers have really turned the Miami Dolphins into a joke around the league imo. Much more damage to the negative perception of the Dolphins than Ireland/Sparano have done.
Really?? He didnt "play" for Belichick, he played for the ring and to be alongside one of the greatest QB's and ride it out. And to be honest, anyone who actually knows the game of football wouldnt even MENTION Sparano or Coughlin's name in the same sentence as Belichick's name. I hate the guy but I give credit where credit is due plain and simple.
