Red Riding Hood. This one goes to show that you can't rely on word-of-mouth nor reviews; it was pretty damn good, despite nearly everything I heard. The end was kind of blah, I could think of at least two better ways to have ended it. But overall: good acting, decent story, stunning photography, excellent music (the combination Goth/medieval music and dance was weird at first, but excellently done), and good special effects. Worth a rental; see it in blu-ray, the visuals are masterful...not to mention that you won't want to miss a freckle on Amanda Seyfried's gorgeous face.

been watching netflix streaming movies lately. catching up on movies I missed the last few years

    - the last airbender - that was disappointing. character development was terrible.
    - daywalkers - not too bad. would have been better with little less blood/gore.

There is a blu-ray release which contains an alternate ending. It'd be interesting to check that out.

    The River Murders.

Brilliant film noir; great story, good twists in an excellent mystery. Amazing performances by some, including Brazilian actress Gisele Fraga in her first English-speaking film role. Christian Slater at his scenery-chewing worst. Very good overall until the end, which was oddly ham-handed, but it doesn't ruin the whole.

I love this time of year 'cause all the horror movies are on tv. Recently I've seen:

House of Wax (it was meh.)
Silver Bullet (From '85 with the late Corey Haim; Gary Busey plays the drunk uncle in this one, and does a great job.)
30 Days of Night: Dark Days (Interesting sequel concept, but not too well done, and a crappy ending.)
The Wolfman (Pretty good, I liked that it took place in the 19th century. del Toro & Hopkins did a good job.)
Slither (Campy humor, and fun to watch.)

I just watched this last weekend, and I still can't decide if I like it or not. The concept was unique, and the suspense on who the wolf was, was great. However I could have done without the twilightesque love triangle.

but i saw Thor today and i think its better. bringing mythology into the Marvel Film Universe as it has been since Iron Man was well executed.

Saw The Way and LOVED it , very unique , poignant , a really good , quiet movie.

Also saw The Help with with my 20 year old daughter and we really really liked it too . Well acted and the look of the film was tremendous , very visually attractive, the look , fashion of the times . It wasn't as gritty as maybe it could have been considering the subject matter , more dwelling on the feel good aspect , but not saccharine in our opinions. Surely women will like the film , but I certainly did as well.

Hangover 2 was actually funnier than I expected it to be. I loved the first one so I thought the 2nd one would be a colossal failure because of how funny the first one was.

    And I recently watched Bridesmaids....9/10
