My only problem with that trailer is that it sort of spoils events of ACR (Ezio finds a woman), but the developers were pretty upfront about that so I guess it doesn't really count. Otherwise, I don't know how anyone can look at that trailer and not think of AC as one of the preeminent franchises and stories in video gaming. Ezio Auditore da Firenze: greatest video game character so far this century? Sure as hell is more interesting than Gordon Freeman, Marcus Fenix, or Master Chief.
Well yeah it does kind of feel like they spoiled a bit of Revelations, but it is kind of obvious Ezio would have a kid.
Yeah. Plus, they introduced the character (Sofia Sorto) in the Game Informer article. So I guess it's not really spoiling anything that hasn't already been known.
Okay, after further investigation, we're supposed to watch Embers before we play Revelations. I think Ubi is just trying to get us in the right frame of mind for Revelations. Knowing that, I don't really mind if they spoiled Sofia Sorto.
AC Brotherhood Collector's Edition for PS3 is on clearance sale at Amazon. Dropped from $100 to $60. The 360 version is $80.
First video of bombcrafting and Altair gameplay. And the bald dude from the first trailer is shown.
Here's the official Gamescom trailer. Separate interviews with ACR's lead writer confirms that you'll be playing as Desmond in the Black Room who accesses more Ezio memories who experiences memories of Altair recorded using tech from Those Who Came Before. So you're playing as Desmond playing as Ezio having an out of body experience as Altair. If you liked Inception you're going to love this.
Yeah, they changed his voice actor for the PSP game. Not sure if the voice actor is the same or if they cast someone else for Revelations.
Eh, they just sort of rolled Lost Legacy into what was already brewing with Revelations. It really wouldn't have made sense to make two games.
Nice job. I don't have a PS+ membership and I prefer to play AC games on the PC, so I didn't bother trying to get one. Let us know how it is.
I generally don't play multiplayer games but I'm pretty envious right now. Let us know how it plays! I'm especially curious to know if the graphics engine has been upgraded as the earlier screenshots (and some of the not-quite-full-quality trailers) seem to indicate.
Impressions from the beta - There is a light blue, elaborate, version of the Assassins logo as the beta starts. I thought it was neat. - I think this goes without saying but there will be U play rewards in this game, since there was a locked button in the main menu that said "Uplay" - They explained what the whispers are in the tutorial, which sucks because I think a lot of people hadn't caught on to that yet. - There is a lot more customization than before, as it seems are several options for making your characters look unique. - There seems much more stuff to unlock and there is a achievement/trophy system, along with the challenges system from before. You cant seem to get anything for them, though, but you still unlock stuff through the challenges. - I noticed a new mode called "Corruption" in the Challenge list. Its not in the Beta. - You can take a look at other players stats while in the lobby. Which is good because now you have an idea of what you are up against and how good your teammates are(if you are in a team mode) - The "Abstergo Database" section is locked. I am guessing story related stuff goes there. I was hoping we'd get to some of the story but I guess Ubisoft didnt want anyone spoiled. You can also earn "Abstergo Credits" to buy upgrades and stuff. - You can unlock titles(recruit, novice, mentor, etc.) - You can unlock avatars as well as make a custom insignia that your character wears. - You can vote on maps. - Stuns now count towards kill steaks. - NPCs can also be stunned. - You can also taunt now. - Teammates can be now revived from a stun. - A streak meter shows up once you get close to activating a streak. -Apparently there is a streak that allows you to "hack the animus" pretty much allowing you to kill whomever you want. The downside? You need one hell of a kill streak: 9 kills. There is another one that you cannot activate if you have been killed five times in a row. Both seem to be rare as I have yet to see this. - You can read about the abilities and perks here. - In Manhunt, hiding has been downgraded, you dont get as many points per second as you did before. - In Deathmatch the compass is disabled, otherwise its the same as Wanted. - I have not tried Artifact Assault yet, but I think it would be like a capture the flag mode. - Stealth is highly encourged, more so than in Brotherhood. - If you kill someone attempting to stun you, the kill is contested and you dont get as many points. This also negates any other bonuses you would have gotten, like hidden or incognito, I am guessing the premise is that your target isn't supposed to see you kill them period. Or maybe I am not doing something right, but every time I got a contested kill I only got 150 points, the only bonus I got was the 50 points for being "reckless". Like I said, stealth is encouraged. - On the other hand, if you contest a kill, you earn 100 points. - You can also finish off someone your teammates have killed in the team modes. Its a nice way to rack up an easy 100 points but you don't get credit for the kill. - Kill animations can now be interrupted, so if you kill someone or stun someone, you are vulnerable to attack. the transition is pretty smooth. - Matchmaking is faster, it can still be a pain at times, but it is an upgrade over Brotherhood. - My character has frozen a couple of times, and I have seen it happen to others, I don't know if this is a glitch or its just lag (probably a glitch because my connection is perfect.) It is a beta afterall.
Kotaku's Stephen Totilo goes to Istanbul, films the real-life monuments that will be in ACR. Video is non-embeddable, so click the link to watch. Not everything in the video will be in the game, because like Florence, Rome, etc, not everything we have today was constructed in the early 16th century. And he mispronounces "Hagia".
You'll be "pleased" to know there's no trophy support. Anyway:
IGN has some new videos up. Spoiler alert for those of you Spoiler who dont want to know what Subject 16 looks like.
Extended version of the E3 trailer without Woodkid's song and an Ezio voice-over. Also shows what happens after he elbows Leandros at the end.
You would think his ankles would look like a bag of crushed ice after that fall. But then again Ezio did just take an arrow to the shoulder, and the only thing stopping him from killing an entire army was a hallucination. So yeah "He's just that badass" seems like a good explanation.
Loose flooring broke his fall. And his spaulders absorbed the arrow head, so he was never actually injured.
Great game, played this a month ago in Vegas, also played all the new titles coming out this fall!! Incredible line up for gamers, im enjoying the Battlefield 3 beta tonight, lots of glitches, but i think it could over take Modern Warfare 3, and i love the COD games!
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005Q23SB0/ref=nosim/cheapassgam08-20 $35 to pre-order the PC (digital) version of Revelations through Amazon (that's 30% off).
I prefer October 11. Honestly, the 2 week delay bothers me so much I may just buy the PS3 version. Have never played an AC game on a console because (IMO) it's better on the PC, but… I might have to make an exception here.
