It looks like Smoltz is going back to the bullpen when he comes off of the DL. So now we have a closer again but a big hole to fill in the starting rotation. If only Hampton could stop getting hurt.

Looks like Jurrjens is our #2 starter (or should be anyway) leaving Glavine at 3, James at 4... Jeff Bennet 5?

What a injury plagued, cluster**** of a start to the season :pity:

Yeah it's irritating. I moved here to Augusta two years ago thinking I'd surely be watching some live playoff baseball in Atlanta. I'm getting a little ticked off that it hasn't happened yet. It's a long season so who knows.

Hudson was dominant. Complete game 3-hit Shutout. We needed that in the worst way. Hopefully this will start a streak

JoJo Reyes got called up and looked great tonight. Nice to see the offense put together a big inning for some insurance.

I'm missed a lot of games lately. I haven't seen them on the guide when I flip through. I read something that quoted Cox as saying Smoltz shoulder is really sore. Doesn't sound good. So hopefully Reyes can somewhat fill the void.

He won't be able to pitch at all for at least a couple of weeks.

Looks like the bats have come alive. Absolute crime that Chipper wasnt the Player of the Month. Utley was no slouch, but Jones deserved it more IMO.

I think Chipper has a higher BA than Utley. But Utley might have the edge with HRs and RBIs. Chipper is just as deserving though. I was going to go to this game but its a heck of a drive to get to Atl. Chipper and Ken Griffey Jr. are my two all time favorite players. I kind of hate seeing Jr not be able to haul in that fly ball by McCann. But he can still hit when healthy. The whole Braves lineup is really doing a good job of hitting today, going the other way and getting some timely hits.

Chipper rarely gets credit for much anymore. Like not getting a golden glove last season. He's clearly the best player in the NL right now.

Lets hope he can stay in the lineup. In know its early, but the way hes hitting it would be fun to see if he could flirt with .400

I could see him hitting .400 into July and David Wright still getting voted into the All-Star game ahead of him. That might be a little bit of an exaggeration but not much. Not taking away from Wright just using him as a good example.

That would be cool to see. What an accomplishment that would be at 36 years old. If he kept it even over .350 that would be amazing.

Haha yeah. Lets compare their early stats shall we, just for fun.

    David Wright #5 3B»
    2008 STATS
    BA HR RBI OBP SLG
    .265 6 26 .387 .530

    Chipper Jones #10 3B»
    2008 STATS
    BA HR RBI OBP SLG
    .426 10 29 .481 .739

Chipper Jones and David Wright are not even in the same league. Wright probably will get elected to start, but he'll know hes not the best 3rd baseman in the league...

Teams should either walk him or make him hit from the right side, not that he isn't hitting well from that side. If they do that I hope Tex starts hitting like a hitter that is going to ask for the money he will ask in the offseason.

In other news Gavin Floyd has a no-hitter thru 7 for the Chi Sox...and hes on my fantasy team. I also have Scott Olsen who threw 8 tonight with 2 hits and no runs. and Jurrjens who got the dub. Tonight could be very profitable for my team, the 69ers

15 day DL. Still plans to go to the pen when he returns. May hurt our starting ptiching, but if JoJo Reyes can build off his great start last week and Glavine eats up some innings, we could be in business. Especially when Mike Gonzalez comes back.

I need to stop Im getting excited :)

Soriano's elbow may be worse than originally thought. Dont plan on him being back anytime soon.

Gonzalez said his elbow is still a little tight.

He may not be back for another month at the earliest. Tommy John surgery can take up to a year and half to fully recover, if it all. He was injured in Aril of last year, so getting him back before June would be a bonus.

And Pete Moylan is undoubtedly out for the season with Tommy John...

The day after NEVER. Haha he's on the 15 day as far as I know. Retro-active to when he developed vaginitas. I think the Braves have made plans beyond him. Anything he provides until his contract is up is a HUGE bonus.

Gavin Floyd no-hitter thru 8. Has to face Mauer and Morneau in the 9th. He'll have to earn it.
Another reason to root for the guy, he came over from the Phillies. Not as bad as the Mets getting rid of Scott Kazmir, but still nice to see.
