Humor works for some people and when the team is down and there's not much to look at, this stuff is funny. PS Jay Leno just made a joke about the Dolphins. He was talking about the Dolphin Tale movie and it led into a joke but I had it too low and couldn't hear but I heard "Miami Dolphins" and then laughter. I'm sure someone will mention it. We're a punchline on a National Level now! We've stepped up in that department.... Funny that I don't even watch the show much, just when someone I like is on (Ed Helms tonight).
Definitely got my picture taken with Dolph Vader last year at the Cinci game. The guy is a real character. Never says a word...
So, found out Leno has joked about the Dolphins a few times this week on his show. His first, I think from yesterday (didn't see but heard) was: "Herman Cain has more wins in Florida this year than the Miami Dolphins. That's pretty amazing." Well, you're wrong! He has more wins in Florida than the Dolphins the past two years so far. And tonight, about the inspirational Dolphin Tale movie: "Sadly, there are some dolphins that have no hope. Like the Miami Dolphins." I guess Ross won't be calling him to be a minority owner anytime soon. At least we're relevant enough to be joked about, just in a sucky way.
On Tosh.0 This past tuesday. Video of a guy hangliding, then starts vomiting! So Tosh says "Maybe hes flying over Dolphins stadium *Pause* our quarterback situation is sickening" He's a huge dolfan though, so it's to be expected....he hurts like we hurt.
And on Twitter the other day he needed help for a bit next week and he wanted people to tweet at him #insaneproclamations so he said he'll start and he tweeted "American is the finest of the cheeses. #insaneproclamations" and "The Dolphins will finish the season 13-3. #insaneproclamations" I hit him with: "Daniel Tosh doesn't know what ##### tastes like. #insaneproclamations" "Honey badger gives a f**k. #insaneproclamations" "Nick Saban is a good person. #insaneproclamations" (Note: Can't print the word ##### in the forum because of rules. Hint at what I was referring to, rhymes with 'steamin' and 'beamin'.)
Though not really a joke, since this thread is about laughing...the Buccaneers are about to Sell out their game, and the Jaguars are about to sell out their second home game...Are the Dolphins now the red-headed step child of Florida NFL teams? Probably won't last for the Jaguars since they suck again, and the Bucs had to have a 10-6 season filled with blackouts and now a first place tie to sell out their first game in a while. At least Miami fans supported the Dolphins since 2004 as much as they did through all the ****ty seasons since then.
The Buccaneers are going to sell out because they've now won two in a row and this Colts game seems a guaranteed win. Their only loss came to the Lions who are undefeated this year so far and look like an NFC powerhouse. They have an exciting young and really good QB to watch. All of this is fighting some pretty heavy economics in the area and some resentment over the Glazers constantly skimping on player costs every year. The Jaguars are selling out for one reason: Blaine Gabbert. Otherwise, there is no reason for that team to sell out. They've dropped two in a row, I don't even know how in the world they won that first game against the Titans but it must have just involved the Titans beating themselves. They're facing the Saints who are about guaranteed to thrash them. But Blaine Gabbert is getting the start and everyone wants to see it. Which is a testament to just how much a young quarterback can keep the fanbase excited even while losing.
Yeah and the Jaguars also cut down their seating by papering some. Funny thing is the Chargers-Dolphins might be blacked out in San Diego, they have to sell 7000 tickets or something. Fans in SD are really not feeling that team, weren't happy even with the two wins, which were close calls at home against 0-3 Minn and 0-3 KC. Chargers early season struggles may help the Fins...though if there is a remedy for an offense, it would be facing our defense.
Incidentally I saw someone post somewhere, I think it was implied that these people used the tiebreaker rules and all that in order to determine draft order as of this week, and we'd currently select #2 in the NFL Draft. (crosses fingers)
