I dont fault him at all. The players must be tired and now they have to fly to the west coast to play LAA

I do again it made absolutely no sense to play the regulars in yesterdays game, which btw was a travel game for them to Balt, he should have played them Game 3 and went fot the sweep...rested them yesterday for the flight to the west coast to face 2 of the top pitchers in the AL this year, plus probably King Felix....

He said it was for resting guys, all he managed to do was lose 2 games wthat went into extra innings both of them, and in the 3rd game he put the starters in from the 6th on to try to win it, so in turn he gave them .5 days rest in 2 days......awesome...

dude it is September, it is grinding time, it is Baltimore....win the series first then rest....they missed good opportunities to gain games on the Sox.....

Interesting Note..Tampa is only 5.5 games out of the wild card. They play Boston 6 more times. Things are getting interesting. I still think Yankees/Boston wins Division and other one wins wild card

It's pretty hard to do. I saw a stat tonight that will make me sleep a little easier and it's if the Red Sox go 8-9 the rest of the season than the Rays will have to go 14-4 to make the playoffs (so doing quick math the Yankees could go 7-11 for them to miss the playoffs). So not only do either the Sox or Yankees have to take a complete dive but Tampa Bay has to pretty much win all there games the rest of the way. Is it impossible? Of course not, but it's going to be extremely tough for them to do. Tampa Bay for whatever reason never seems to have the big injuries that either the Sox or Yankees have, especially with their starting pitching.

I think the yankees problem right now is they are exhausted. They ended their game at 2 am then had to fly to Baltimore and play a game at 1 pm then had to fly to LA and play the Angles. Obviously the starting pitcers are not really affected but offensively they look tired.

That and they ran into good pitching in Weaver and Haren. Even the best teams and best hitters run into slumps and right now it's hitting the Yankees (and Red Sox). There's nothing to worry about if you're a Yankee fan right now.

Yanks are in a slumber....no time to rest....no time to go backwards.

Will be a battle as TB keeps rolling.....Sox and Yanks both in reverse right now.

If the Yankees go 8-8, the Red Sox will have to go 12-4 to win the division. I think its safe to print the AL East championship t-shirts in the Bronx right now.

The Yanks still have 7 left with the Rays, and 4 with the Sox.....so anything can happen Fink, nobody is out of it by any stretch....

I think its 7 vs Rays (4 at home (including doubleheader), 3 on road), and 3 vs Sox (3 at home)...and yes, no one is out of it.

If I lived closer, for sure would be there....but last friday was only my 2nd game at The new Stadium. And the first was pre-season opening day of the beautiful place vs. Cubs.

I see them far more often when they come to BAL.

    Depends on who's playing.... haha.

I've only been to the new YS once but always wanted to go to Camden Yards. I really wish they'd just build a new Fenway Park already. I'm going to the Sox/Rays game this weekend, which when I got tickets back in June, thought it would be a meaningless game, silly me.

Congrats for Mo getting 600 Saves. It's pretty fitting that Jeter made the last out to get it. Wished Posada was behind the plate when he got it though

So I was thinking of something special for Mo's record, and honestly if I were Girardi I would let Posada catch the final inning....I have been down on Jorge the whole year with good reason, but he is still a Yankee and I love him. It would be awesome for Jorge too in what has been a down year, as well he will get to manage a game when they clinch a playoff spot to I am sure....

Then I would leave him off the playoff roster.....come on you think I was going soft?

As well Colon scares me right now....one good, one bad, one good, and one bad...

Starting Tuesday, the Yankee Universe gear is coming on and the "Let's Go Yankees" chants will be coming from my mouth. I feel a little dirty even thinking about it but you gotta do what you gotta do. Dontcha know? Robbbbbie Cano! Gardner Plants One! Jorgie Juices it! El Captain. Mark sends a Text message to right. Some muscle from Russell. An a-bomb from A-Rod. The Grandy Man Can!

yeah, asking the "FRIENEMY" to do your dirty work is a no win proposition. But I will savor the thought of you decked out and praising the "Mystique" and "Aura".

LOL...good luck, will be floored if TB actually knocks Beantown to the playoff curb.

I will say, the thought of Red Sox fans everywhere with their collective faces pressed against the PLAYOFF window wondering why the door is locked is fun to think about, but dont see it happening.

I don't like the idea of backing into the playoffs but the point is to get in because anything can happen. So if I have to root for the Yankees for that to happen so be it.

Hughes is questionable for the Game 1 start today against Shields with back spasms, which sux cuz he was starting to get some momentum.....so in will step in...??

My gut is they rest some players for Game 1, and go balls to the wall in Game 2, for CC's 20th and the clincher.....IMO

RF's Yankee pep talk for today's DL:

"Good game last night guys, now let's go out there, show no mercy, sweep their legs if you have to and win two!"
