You know a guy is a good player when he's voted captain and never played for that team before! :)

Thanks, Deej. Hey, you've been right about enough player assessment stuff to where your opinions deserve some merit. If you have a knack for understanding genetics & physiques, then I'm appreciatively all ears, my friend.

well, I believe if you know the body, can see the density of the musculature, the narrowness of the hips and shoulders, the joints, then you can project how much explosiveness they can put out, and, what the body can do athletically relative to the build..for example..Aaron Maybin..The reason why he was destined to bust was because his body was not at its natural playing weight in college, he was all popcorn yet no bone density, I knew he was gonna shrink because of his frame and joints, I knew that once that happened his core strength would be severely affected, and thats no'nos good when your facing exponentially a stronger more athletic body comin at you in the NFL..double negative..Bust..

Jimmy Claussen..Besides not having the makeup to be a leader, a real poser, his chest and shoulders are narrow which prohibits him from throwing at different arm angles, basically if he doesn't have a clear lane and the space to wind up his release, he wouldn't be able to make throws under pressure or with players in his space...Bust..

Tim Tebow..I said that someone would take him in the first round, however, I wouldn't do it based on if I wanted just a qb..His body will not allow him to execute the responsibilities that the job requires..

Ronnie Brown...He lost control of his body, my guess is he stayed approx the same weight but his body fat percentage increased as he got older, probably due to poor eating habits, {which he later confirmed} thus, robbing him of his speed he had comin out when the body could burn all the garbage he was putting in..

All these examples and many more, I projected to fail, a lot of it has to do with the body and imo, what kind of athleticism it can produce on a football field..

Totally understand what you're saying and believe in your philosophy, Deej. I'm right there with you on this stuff (or trailing slightly behind).

That's the main reason I didn't feel Michael Johnson (Ga Tech, Cincy Bengals) would be a 1st round pick when it was proposed. I felt he was more muscle density than anything which would cause his body to exert too much energy to be an every down impact player in the NFL. Ditto with Vernon Gholston.

Would love to see a DJ's Bodyshop thread where you discussed which Dolphins players had good and bad physical structure, and when into each in depth.

I like it...one actual player who happens to be a backup, someone who does not exist in the NFL, and the Asst WR Coach.

Heck the Pats are wearing an emblem with Mrs Kraft's initials this season, why couldn't someone have thought of one for Mandich, even just an Aqua oval with a white #88, or JM88...something.

if you remember a couple years ago, some folks were saying that Phillip Merling should drop weight and become an outside linebacker..No way..I said that because of his body and how it did not have the symmetrical balance to execute the responsibilities that an outbacker in a 34 would require to begin with, also, he was soft in the wrong places to expect real explosion once he dropped the weight, bottom line it wouldn't of looked pretty..For those reasons I knew he could not move athletically correct at a lighter weight for that position, thus forming my opinion not to do it.

Don't get me started on VD...I would say pound for pound, the most explosive player in football..Steve Smith type sh%$..

ive been on his jock for 3 years, I knew how the DEgression of his body and the lack of work ethic in the offseason would eventually come to fruition, and it has...The thing about Vern that is frustraing is that he does have good genetics for the position, he just believes that he should get paid millions for a PART TIME JOB...Thats why he's one of the few that I will call a name or two, like fatass''...lol...

If you don't have the intelligence, and motivation to understand that ifyou train your body to its peak potential relative to your position, you are helping yourself, your family, and your team to become better, well freakin god dammit, you get paid full time money so get off ur lazy *** and do something about it..I have 0 respect for this mentality in this league.

Captains for 2011 are Henne, Long, Dansby, Bell.
I think somebody predicted that earlier in this thread :P
