Yes he would be the best RB on our roster outside of Reggie Bush, until Daniel Thomas gets more up to speed. The Jaguars made a mistake. It happens.

He's a short guy, but almost 200 pounds; no midget, this one.

    And FAST.

Bit of a project for us to take on after preseason, though.

And where would he fit though?

That is the problem with these running backs, they can have all sort of measurables, but they also have to fit what you are trying to do, he seems a bit larger then Grigsby but who knows?

He has a nose for the end zone and he's good at carrying a football. He fits because he's talented.

Shoot Ck, there is a fair number of running backs like him walking the street atm, he's not going to take plays from Bush, or Thomas, and he does not offer what Hilliard and Clay offer, what's he going to do in Miami?

Now if Bush goes down, that changes the equation, but even then it would make more sense to have Grigsby on the ps as he is holographic to Bush in terms of knowledge of the offense.

Jags kept 3 FBs and 2 RBs, seems kind of odd, though I guess there is some crossover with a couple of them.

If your goal is not to add talented players to the roster then I can see what you're saying. My goal would be adding talented players to the roster.

Hmm, not locking it into stone, but afaik the only UDFA running back who made an actual roster was Darren Evans with the Colts?

The crossover is exactly the reason. Montell Owens and Brock Bolen both carry the ball like tailbacks. By the way they've kept Richard Murphy it appears, so he's a 3rd RB. They kept 6 guys, 3 FBs and 3 RBs.

This strikes me as one of those decisions that was justified in the meeting room on the basis of special teams, whereas the Jaguars haven't quite realized the roster implications of the new kickoff rules.

Which is odd because he wasn't really all THAT good. I mean, he was decent, but not great. He was a guy I wouldn't mind taking a look at, but I'd only be taking a look.

Now to look ahead a bit, we could simply be seeing the effect of the lockout on UDFA type Rb's, which does create opportunities for players to be overlooked as the situation is, for the NFL, chaotic, "omg where are my 2 months of OTA's to examine before I can make a decision!!!"

But at this point in time, safe bet we won't see a lot of these guys signing elsewhere, they will be fortunate to land on the psquad, by games 6-8 for us we probably will need someone like this..but that is where Grigsby on the ps would make sense, heck from that pov even Sheets would make sense.

    Of course it is.

Chad Henne's played well in preseason so apparently we have to find something else to overreact about.

Too early to know what else they'll do.

Here is DuJuan Harris, every throw, every carry, etc.

I think you can see on some plays when there's just no room to run at all and too many bodies coming at him, 5'7" and 200 lbs isn't enough to make something out of nothing in some of those situations. On the other hand, his combination of strength (27 bench reps), lower body explosion (1.44 second 10 yard split, by far the fastest of his draft class), and low pad level allows him to gain a surprising amount of yards after first contact. When you watch him after contact, you're not seeing him overpower people and so it's easy to get caught in the trap of thinking he's not physical. What you have to school yourself to do as an exercise is mark where first contact happened, and then how many yards he managed to fall or stumble forward for after the contact. Do that, and you'll see that DuJuan Harris actually gets more yards after contact than Daniel Thomas, who is 30 lbs heavier and 5 inches taller. In addition to the ability to fall forward for yards after contact, he shows the ability to regularly make people miss in the open field, and to break arm tackles. Remember that this is a 4.4 speedster and he will make big plays with his speed and agility, so his power can be mediocre, and he would still be an efficient yard gainer. Particularly pay attention to his ability which he shows on a handful of the plays to use his blockers and make the right cuts.

The fumbles were unfortunate. One was him trying to do too much in the pile, a learning experience. The other was clearly caused by the ground and should have been ruled a non-fumble, but the referees made an incorrect call on the field and the replay officials refused to overturn it based on insufficient video evidence to overturn a call on the field.

What about Aldrick Robinson? Wasn't he cut? He might be able to replace one of the WRs.

Question... if we stand pat with this O-line and have an abysmal season, will Sparano alone be fired, or both Sparano and Ireland?

I'm told by one of the members of the media that Jeff Ireland has a lot of support from Stephen Ross. Ireland's got sort of a very scientific, egghead, methodical approach to his job and that jives with Ross' style. The big question mark would be who comes in to coach the team because if it's a Bill Cowher, he's going to want final say wrestled out of Ireland's hands completely at the very least, and he may actually just want to fire Ireland and replace with someone he trusts from back in the Pittsburgh days. Ross may like Ireland but he likes ticket sales and fan enthusiasm about the team more than anything.

And I don't see the necessity for people to start in with their snarky statements about everyone making a big deal about these final cuts. There are people, including myself, that disapprove of the final cuts. We should be allowed to disapprove of various maneuvers. To my knowledge I don't think anyone put forward the idea that losing Lou Polite, Will Allen, Phil Livas and Quinton Spears will result in the Dolphins losing even just one more game than they would have otherwise won. I don't see anyone that's said that. And yet you still have people trying to look like the smartest guy in the room by talking about how everyone's overreacting.

I'm none to happy to see the stinking Pats sign Brian Waters who has been the past couple of Pro Bowls, and gave up a total of 2 sacks in over 3,000 snaps over the past 3 years, while we are stuck with Carey who has been to no Pro Bowls except as a spectator and will not pass block as well as Waters even to save his soul. Thinking Tom F'ing Brady's pass protection just got way better, oh joy. Waters could not help us though I guess.

That strikes me as another move we COULD regret although I have to be honest I never went ahead and watched Waters' 2010 or 2009 tape so I never really commented one way or another. I try only to comment on players I've seen in action, the more recent the better. That's why I could say that honestly an Andre Gurode signing doesn't excite me that much because he looks like he's playing on two flat tires and he labors if you ask him to move even a bare 3 yards. I see the Pats ended up thinking much the same hence they chose Waters over Gurode.

    I wouldn't expect we'd sign a guy like Harris because....he doesn't play special teams.
