Wow...Did not figure Lou and Fields for being cut, and Murtha to the IR?

Hmm, this is sort of odd to me, I guess 6 Wr's, 3 (!) running backs with Hilliard as the FB and only 2 Qb's?

I don't see any big surprises there, other than, for me . Livas. Kearse looked about even with Fields, and the rest were at least kinda expected. Now, on to who we may add.

Polite gone, so does this mean Hilliard will line up at FB? Didn't pay much attention to FB, how did he do?

I guess they cut Fields so they could keep Merling as Starks is the backup NT now.

Ike Francis also made the cut, as did Spitler and Mitchell.

    LB corps:

    Wake
    JT
    Dansby
    Burnett
    Edds
    Mitchell
    Spitler
    Misi

    8 Lb's?

Surprised on Murtha. There goes a guy who showed some promise, and someone who could push Colombo.

That is a good point about Clay, lots of pressure on him now, a rook FB? Sheesh, this is not what I had in mind.

On paper, but what happens is they roster a guy for a week or two, then sneak him onto the practice squad once other teams rosters and lineups settle down.

I agree so why did we bother signing Larry Johnson if we turn around and cut him. I dont think Daniel Thomas will take this team very far but i hope he will prove me wrong.I thought the dolphins should have kept Ricky and polite but in all honesty guys we dont need 5 rbs if the passing game works we do need to find a athletic tight end .

It may have been a message to Dan Thomas "run harder or we find someone who does, and you cover kicks and punts"

Not being a power running team doesn't mean you rely on a rookie, an oft injured, hasn't exactly lived up to his lofty draft status veteran and a guy who was so valuable to us, he got zero (0) carries last year ??

And where are we when Bush gets hurt ?? (He will, you know).... I don't like all the moves made however, we don't know "the rest of the story" just yet. As we all know there will be churning and burning on this roster for 2-3 weeks...

Fields, Livas, LJ and W. Allen surprise me. I'm a bit surprised with the Spears and Polite cuts. I haven't been a big Polite guy, but he just didn't fit in with what they wanted to do. What is surprising is that Polite played as most of the starters played. Naturally they probably think they know what they have in him, but it was a bit of a surprise.

I'm somewhat surprised that they are going with 3 RBs, unless they are bringing one of them back (LJ ??) Clay at FB just doesn't register to me...

I'm also a bit surprised that Spears wasn't kept over Spitler. I know that Sptiler has improved this year but Spears played well. He needs to put on a little more weight, so maybe a year on the PS will make a difference for him...

I am shocked by Murtha being put on IR...that sux...and that's coming from a fan (me) that was livid that he was kept around after last season. Must be how they were able to keep Jerry. But that means mediocrity at the RT spot now... Maybe Jerry showed some things in practice that he couldn't/didn't in PS games because of the injury, but wow...

Pads we were right about Murtha being redshirted. Thought maybe Clay was bound for that too.

Surprised about Allen he showed me a lot the last 2 games , his leadership plus slot ability and suddeness made me feel he was a lock....knee could still be a concern.

Not surprised on Fields , liked Kearse better , he may still be a PS player in the scenario you mentioned.

Jerry I have no idea on , stubborness??? If he doesn't pan out and that is a LONG shot , they have to answer for it.

LJ Polite don't surprise me , Livas a bit , he had some things last game that showed he could help even if he didn't return , but they like MM more and I do too and Wallace I guess.

Your boi not catching on is a letdown , hopefully a quick add or PS.

Lots of movement to come , at least 4 moves imo.

This won't be the roster tomorrow. We have 27 Defensive Players and 23 Offensive Players.

There were some real peculiar moves made by the organization. I don't see how there wasn't room for a guy like Larry Johnson with the Lou Polite cut. Charles Clay is a FB/TE and can be counted towards TE depth and Lex Hilliard is really a RB/FB and can be counted as the FB. Keeping Larry Johnson would have been a smart move IMO. I thought he looked like he had a little something left.

I thought there was room for Philip Livas too. It's more peculiar because no other player took reps as a KR/PR. Davone Bess I imagine will remain as the PR, but Clyde Gates as the KR? Nolan Carroll?

The amount of LB's we currently have won't remain the same heading into NE. I mean it just can't. 10 LB's is outrageous.

I thought Will Allen was on the chopping block, but he did play fairly well while Nolan Carroll struggled. However, I think it was Carroll's ST's ability that kept him, as well as his youth. I don't think Will had flashed enough to separate himself from Carroll, Sapp, and the Jimmy Wilson.

What the Murtha injury effectively does is freeze us into Colombo for the forseeable future, oh joy.

Otherwise, I liked QS and Livas and hope we can hang onto them, but you just never know, I think both will have jobs in pro football for the forseeable future as p squad guys or even the CFL.

I'm not thrilled with losing Polite, but also get the fact we have changed the offense and he no longer fit in, someone in the NFL (pats maybe?) will take a shot on him.

Jerry reminds me of Marten, a player they took in Dallas who wound up being a practice squad guy for yrs, was in our camp this yr, then cut, only JJ was out of ps options.

    Just what I thought Zeke...

No big FB, no big Running backs, I think the days of R & R type backs are gone...

I have a feeling Ireland actually thinks Devlin will clear waivers. I'm not so sure he will. I find it hard to belive they've already seen enough of Devlin and are getting rid of him outright. I think they wanna PS him.

    LJ looked better than Thomas.

    Allen looked better than Carroll.

Hope Fields makes P.S. It's real hard to find and develop an NT. Would help a lot if Feilds could be a solid #2 at NT down the road.

QS and Livas would be quintessential CFL players, Don't think Spears get here though as he has some real upside imo .

Might they just want to bring back Allen for less $$$? Assuming someone else doesn't snatch him up.

They may , although the Giants are a semi logical destination. Maybe they see a reason Carroll was so tentative, he really regressed to where I hoped he may be.

Lots of movement still to come.
