It must be super tough for you to want to up your quality of reporting and bring your expertise through watching tons of game film; however, I don't think anyone truthfully doesn't appreciate your opinions or write-ups. To the contrary I see their smart a** comments and luring you into arguments to also be a step in your progression. They're being hypercritical of your rhetoric. Sure, the site has grown and there's goes the neighborhood; but it is, after all, a football forum with a wide array of fans. In the end, I think you're critiquing of Henne and Bush is the same as their critiquing of your rhetoric. We'll turn you into a diamond yet...A humble perfectionist, the perfect poster.

PS- This is still the best site I've found on the net. If you know of any better, I'm all ears. You might want to write professionally or even do some of the write-ups on the home page. You're damn good, you just might have gotten so good you can't afford to be a fan anymore without ridiculous, kneejerk blowback. In that I mean you probably can't afford to answer every post, which a lot of people don't give you enough credit for (even when they're vehemently disagreeing with you).

I really think Reggie had that guy beat regardless of Marshall blocking him in the back. The first time I watched the highlights I thought Reggie juked him from a pretty far distance. Upon seeing the instant replay, I saw he was compensating for where he might get tackled without the Marshall clip.

Again, I didn't see every play but just the highlights; but I think Reggie is extremely efficient with his "dancing". Oh well, more data to come next week...

I'm not reading all of the thread, but it's a shame it's gotten to where it's at because it seemed like a pretty good thread for debate/discussion.

Again, I say (with only reading this pg....what is objection? as Dolphins fans, none of us are truly objective).

    My thoughts:

Reggie Bush looked explosive. He looked like a player that has the ability to make plays on the football field. He looked a like a player willing to do the things a big time player does. He looked worth the investment the Miami Dolphins made. I hope it carries onto the regular season.

Chad Henne looked the same. He did all of the the things we've seen him do well. He's a very good short/intermediate passer. He continued to struggle on throws down the field. This offense will never consistently make big plays if he's unable to make the throws. The problem is that he doesn't even give them a CHANCE to make a play. The overthrows are worse than an INT. They really are. Forget the INT:TD ratio stats. He's got to be able to at least give them a chance. If he does, will there be criticism? Of course. And rightfully so. However, not giving a WR a chance to make a play is a double negative.

I will say this to Chad Henne's credit. He's improved his mobility. He's much more able and willing to scramble. The big play to Fasano was a nice play created by him moving out of the pocket and looking down field. The big scramble run was another nice play. He looks to be improved in that area. However, after a nice showing in the 1st preseason game to Hartline, he showed the same inconsistently and inability to make big plays that upsets you as a fan.

Brian Hartline is a good player. I'm tired of debating it. He finds ways to get open. Use all the bull crap you want, to say how he gets open deep, but he CONSISTENTLY beats DB's. He's a nice player and a good draft by Ireland.

The defense played well. The lack of pass rush on 4 down lineman worries me a LITTLE. I really think we worked on a few blitz packages on purpose here. Kevin Burnett looked great in coverage.

I'll suggest it...Close the thread. It's ruined. Both sides have ruined what could have been a nicely debated discussion, IMO.

I can't agree with every analysis that CK made in his original post, but I have to commend him for being the better man and not wallowing in the mud of this debate (I've criticized him for joining in the mud slinging in other threads, so I think this deserves a public commendation from me, whatever it's worth). Stringer Bell has also done a beautiful job pointing out obvious TOS violations being made around here by certain posters (and moderators). I also have to commend Nabo Cane, as well. Sadly, however, it seems like the concern of these posters (and others) is being ignored by the powers that be.

I don't post around here much, so my voice counts for little. But on an old board (not about football) I used to post on there was a designated "Moron Room" for posters who had overstepped certain boundaries. Operating like a form of message board probation, those banished to the Moron Room would be sentenced to only be allowed to post there (and no other part of the forum) for a certain length of time, after which (assuming improved behavior), they would be allowed to rejoin the main discussion rooms.

I'm not a moderator, but I think that kind of idea would work well here. And I can suggest a few posters who would do well to be sent there immediately.

In case anyone wants to cast dispersions about my own motivations, I am also mightily encouraged by Chad Henne's game against the Panthers, and have and continued to be a buyer on him as a quarterback going forward.

It is partly because of my disgust with the tactics by some with whom I might otherwise agree that I'm moved to write this post. It is, to be frank, nauseating to think that I might be linked by proxy to such persons.

Standing up against this kind of behavior is the duty of every ethical person, in my view, regardless of what they think about certain players, philosophies and the like.

What the heck has happened to this forum. Two years ago none of this would be tolerated. Now the inmates are running the asylum.

CK's post wasn't even all negative about Henne and then posters came in ripping him a new one. In the process calling him biased. Henne had a decent game. You see how low our standards have become for Henne that several members start attacking the opinion of someone who wasn't 100% positive? And they want to call bias?

Last year a knock on Henne is he is king between the 20's. This game didn't change any of that. To top it off he missed a few throws that would have started to change some of that opinion. But he didn't. He missed it. Yes it's game #2, but once you start making excuses you know it wasn't 100% positive. IF he makes one TD throw we're at a different place. But he doesn't.

You know who had a similar game? JOHN BECK.
That's how low the standards are around here. Actually Beck had a better game. BOOM.

Maybe it's early in the season, but I'm disappointed in the moderation around here now. Before they were very quick to nip threads like this in the bud. This was supposed to be a different forum. I'd love to see it go back to its early days.

EDIT: I'll add, in my opinion, I am fairly happy with Henne's performance. But that's because my expectation of him is now low. When he doesn't throw more INT's than TD's I'm happy. Even when that is 0-0.

But this isn't going to win us many games, or get us that far in the playoff is we're going to even reach it. With the Jets and NE in our division, we need an outstanding Defense and good QB play. Or a great Defense and great QB play.

Let's review CK's assessment of Chad Henne.

This deserves 10 pages of accusations of bias? What would you have liked for him to say? That a guy who didn't throw any TD's and a single game QBR of 88 was awesome? He thought he played pretty good and told you why he felt Henne didn't play outstanding. Those alleging bias aren't looking good right now, to me. That's all I have to say about that.

17 points in a half should be good enough to win.

I disagree. He moved the team all the way to the end zone 2 times. So they ran the ball in rather than him throwing 2 short TD passes, the end result is the same. He completed several passes in the red zone to put the team in position to punch in 2 short runs for TDs.

Most of the ten thoughts was pretty good, but this is the one thing I disagree with the most. Since Colombo seems to be the favorite whipping boy of many fans here, I've focused on him when I've reviewed the games a 2nd time. In two games so far, he has only had one really bad play that I could see. That was on the incomplete pass to Hilliard, right before the first FG. He had two pass rushers coming at him, one to each side and he didn't react well and ended up not blocking either one. On every other pass play, I've not seen him allow a pressure, a hit or a sack. I don't see him on the ground a lot when run blocking either. Other than near the goal line, where both lines are trying to get lower than the other. His run blocking in the Atlanta game wasn't very good, but it wasn't for any of the five starters. The run plays in that game were very basic designs it seemed to me and overall poor cohesion for the entire line. In the Carolina game, Colombo made several good run blocks. When he is run blocking on plays other than short yardage, I think he stays on his feet very well. He isn't pretty but for the most part would lock on and sustain long enough. He also got out to the 2nd level and effectively blocked the LBers on a few plays. I never saw any run play where Colombo's man got free of him in time to disrupt and turn the play into a negative for the offense. In pass blocking, early he was going againt Charles Johnson, their best pass rusher, and handled him just fine. Johnson later moved over to RDE and was able to bull rush Murtha back almost into Henne and force a holding call. Everette Brown played LDE later, and he wasn't as easy an assignment for Colombo. A couple of pass plays were short drops and quick releases and he was able to block Brown long enough, but the latter disengaged a moment after Henne released the pass and had he held the ball a second longer, Brown may have been disruptive. Bottom line though, was he wasn't, that I could see anyway.

IMO, your criticism seems overly harsh, things like waste of space and worst starter ever. I totally do not agree. Nate Garner, whom you think Tony should start at RT, did not do well there against Atlanta. The man he was blocking, Sidbury I believe, got past him to hit Moore just as he was releasing the pass that got intercepted. Had Moore been kept clean, he'd have probably overthrown the pass and no int. IMO anyway. That play was the worst one, but Garner struggled on other pass plays too, and we often saw Moore having to run for his life.
I do agree with you though that your comment about the coaches not knowing what they are doing, if Garner does not start over Colombo, does sound arrogant. What you are calling the truth, I would say is more accurately an opinion, since you said to say what we will about it.
