Good point. Get a vet like JT, whom fans & media respect more, to speak up. Sparano needs to get on that. I'd be surprised if there's a single Dolphin player who hasn't developed a much stronger respect and appreciation for Henne b/c of his dedication to their success & assumed leadership role. He may or may not be the long term answer, but one thing I can say for certain is: the guy I want as the long term answer, I only pray he has as much dedication etc as Henne's shown this year. He may not be the total package right now, but I don't see how you can not hope a guy succeeds who's trying as hard as he is.
What's funny is out here all the fans that I know want Tebow, even though Orton has blown him away. It's not even close.
I think we all have heard the same... however for me, it doesn't shock me. I never had high expectations for Tebow in the NFL. I think that there are many that once shared that view, mine has not changed.
I would not booing Henne, however I defiantly would be booing Sparano and Ireland. I don't like the way they are running this team. Drafting a center with the 15th pick in the draft was a dumb move, plus trading picks to have to move back up, it didn't make to much sense to me.
I think it was last year, or maybe the year before. I went to a couple Broncos practices, Orton got booed a few times. I don't agree with booing in training camp, but I'm all for booing during a game.
Did I say they should have done it this year ? NO.....they made that mistake in April 2008 when they passed on Matt Ryan. That was screw up # 1 in my book that this regime made.
You keep on harping (way too hard by the way) on this "Henne is working so hard" business. Truthfully I haven't seen or heard of his "overwhelming" dedication this off-season. Do you have any proof to back up this claim ? Or is it a case of you saying it so often, you want it to become urban myth ? Your obsession with him is weird and sort of creeping me out.
Maybe you have proof that he just bummed around all off season and didn't get the players together for workout??
I am as frustrated as anyone else on the situation of this team, especially with seeing teams like NE and the Jets in our own division make upgrades. However, I will fully support Henne if he ends up the starter. I will not boo him or call for another player. I hope the talent like Reggie Bush, Pouncey, and Marshall provide a good supporting cast for him and that he improves significantly from last year.
I believe I just heard on Joe Rose's show, that Orton has been named the starter in the Broncos 1st exhibition game. So Tebow may not be ready. Or maybe Elway is ramping up the stakes to get Orton.
No, but I haven't seen any reports that he did anything special this off-season that other QB's may or may not have done. Nothing except the rah-rah people here saying he did. They say it enough they think it may be true. The burden of proof lies in those that say he did something special. Okay then show me.
Damn, just saw the article and thought I was going to be able to start a thread. What was I thinking? Anyhow, to all the fans who booed and jeered Chad Henne....at PRACTICE...PRACTICE...we're talking about PRACTICE...PRACTICE...not a game, but we're talking about PRACTICE...PRACTICE (okay, sorry, I can't type out the whole Alan Iverson rant, but you get the point), but to all of you fans who did... BITE ME!!!! All you did was come in a jeer the very man who... -Ran your player led practices during the offseason -Stepped up and became the leader of the team -Who was defended by your fellow Dolphins during the offseason -And who uh went 7/10 with 1TD in the practice's 11 on 11 drill, equating to a QB rating of 145. So once again... BITE ME!!!!
How many times has it been mentioned by the media of he and Jake organizing players only workouts? It seems to me as much or more than any other teams. Sorry, they did not give you your own personal official report of every players only workouts when they held them, but with the lack of news during the lockout, those workouts got lots of mention in the media. Your obsession with constantly berating the team you claim to love and support is weird and sort of creeping me out.
Enough of this "rah-rah" crap already. My god... There were many articles during the lockout that Henne and Jake Long were out organizing players, and workouts all off season during the lockout. Most of which were posted here, apparently you ignored those. It's not about him doing anything more than any other QB did, the point is, he at least took charge, did something, and got the guys together to stay in shape, and to get together and try and build some chemistry between them. That's what you want your QB to do, the guy who is supposed to be your offensive leader, is acting like it. What more do you want? Enough being Debbie Downer a week into training camp already and just at least try to enjoy the ride football is going to take us on this year. It may be good, it may be bad, who really cares, at the end of the day its only a game, its only entertainment. Just enjoy it for what its worth. I don't understand why people continue to blast negativity everywhere before we've even stepped on the field in a regular season game. Sure, things don't look like were poised to win the super bowl, or the division even this year probably, but oh well, it is what it is. Does it suck? Yes. Does it alter my life in any way? No, not really. If you're that down on the team, or the organization as a whole, why even put this much time and energy into it? I know, I know.. .because you're a fan, probably longer than many people, maybe before Marino... blah blah blah... who cares. The constant negativity around here is mind boggling. you'd think this team was 1 and 15 for the last 5 years, and we have no talent whatsoever. It's crazy.
Both sides Bro, Chris Perkins asked Karlos Dansby about it and he said "that is between Henne and the fans" IE: Son...you're on your own... To me, this whole thing is being blown way out of proportion, for example what percentage of the crowd was chanting it? ESPN, to the surprise of no one, makes it seem like the entire crowd was doing so, the fact is no one really knows.
well congratulation's....you've gone completely national..ESPN ticker..Mike and Mike full story....Absolutely, positively, embarrassing.. Losers..and people that are ok with it..nice job man
You may have missed this Deej: ESPN is lying, or perhaps, needs to get their facts straight, not unusual for them.
Yes we should have taken Ryan. Long is all pro and a future HOFer but Ryan is a franchise qb. BUT we cant go back, and we caant cry now because it does no good. Go into 12 draft where there are as many as 4 with teh pedigree ryan has and get one, that we can do right now as we sit cause we will have teh ammo to go up and get one.
Tony made it national with his "It makes me sick" comments. If he had just laughed it off or said something bland no one would be picking it up. And who gives a crap what ESPN says anyway? The only thing embaressing has been this organizations general incompetence for the last two decades.
Me too bro. Even the 1-15 season I wasn't "embarrassed" to be a Dolphins fan. I was teed off but not embarrassed. After seeing this hit ESPN and Tony talking about bringing practice to the stadium for fans and this is how they act........ I am embarrassed as a Dolphins fan. It's weak. That said it happens within any fan base. This will pass. Henne just needs to take care of his own business.
They have had a night practice like this at the stadium for as long as I can remember. I've even been to a few in previous years. This was nothing special or unique. They did us no favors. While I was not at the practice and probably wouldn't have booed or chanted anything, I don't feel that I have the right to tell others what to do or not do, particularly when what they are choosing to do isn't a big deal or hurting anybody.Seriously, if some mild booing hurts Chad Henne's feelings he has much bigger problems than being a mediocre QB.
It's simply stupid to be booing a player this early in camp. It's counterproductive as well. As a fan, by definition, you'd think everyone would be hoping for the best with Henne and trying to urge him on and not dumping on him. You can try to make this look like some people worrying Henne will be destroyed by this but I do not think that and that's flat out not the point. It's about classlessness and a lack of some common sense in the heads of these people in attendance.
Padre, why do you think some of us are so livid at the minority who did it in the first place, because I know what kind of story the locals are looking for, and I knew that this would go national when I first heard it, and I knew that it would be sensationalized to the 10 degree along the way..Thats how it works around here man.. Henne has the battle of his life now..I wish him luck man..It IS, going to make it tougher...Life isn't easy, and the aholes just made his that much tougher in their ignorance.
This exactly. People can argue all they want that henne should have a thick skin or fans have the right to do so. I don't disagree with those things. However, that doesn't change the fact that its just stupid to do so this early in practice. Being frustrated doesn't make it any less stupid.
Schmoot, you are making yourself a perfect example of a long scorned fan that can't separate their feelings and what is just criticism for the current staff..Your analysis has just been indicted...along with everyone else's that can't differentiate between histories.
This staff is getting the same treatment from me that every staff has gotten. I look for progression and results. On defense, they have done a fine job. On offense, they are very mediocre. Right now, this regime and Sparano inparticular is no different from Wannstedt. They want to play close to the vest and win games on defense. Both ignored the QB position either out of fear or something else and both are doomed to absolute failure. If we continue on this path we will simply weaste this defense the same way Wannt wasted the prime eyars of JT, Zach, Madison, surtain, Ogunleye, etc.
I almost wonder if some of Sparano's frustration is not all because of this, but maybe he wishes Ireland had done more in FA??? Omar is posting some quotes from Sparano's conf. Here's some: "We always have our eyes open, and are always exploring possibilities," Sparano said when asked if team's still looking for QBs. Tony Sparano said "yes, he's the starter right now" when asked if Chad Henne is the starter. Got to watch those "right nows"
Are you REALLY going to this extreme of obtuseness? Have you paid attention to anything this off season? Did you know there was a lockout? Yup, almost delayed football. Palm Beach Post: More Palm Beach Post Sun Sentinel NFL.COM YardBarker NBC ProFootballTalk Any questions? Class dismissed. There are also the live pressers, too........ but I'm not gonna do the work for you b/c you'll just dismiss it anyways b/c it's stuff that goes against your already made up mind........ if you want more proof, go look it up. There's plenty of it out there. Your obsession with obtuseness & hatred of a guy whom our season might hinge on is weird and sort of creeping me out. Hey, maybe you don't think cramming with a new OC to learn the playbook is hard work, then rounding up players to organize one of the most successful player-only workouts in the league, then teaching Daboll's offense to these guys, acting as QB, OC, HC, and leader all-in-one during these practices, all while attending every charity function...... but you would be in the minority (but at least you have Stringer Bell to keep you company..... chicky-chicky boom-boom. j/k.) If you still feel he didn't massively bust his arse this off season, you can always Tweet Davone Bess and express your disagreement with him too. Maybe you can tell him and everyone else who praise Chad's off season efforts that it's creeping you out.
Gotchya..... so every Fins message board, forum, paper etc knew nothing about it until Sparano spoke up? really?
No, the obnoxious, infantile, ridiculous fans dripping with a false sense of entitlement made it national. So I guess you would enjoy Miami shutting down practices to the fans b/c a portion of them have to ruin it for everyone else by creating a tense, hostile environment not conducive to practicing?
So human beings now suddenly don't have emotions? Hurt is only physical? Someone alert every shrink in the country that tomorrow morning they'll be entering early retirement. Or is just professional athletes and other high profile figures who are born immune to a mass of criticism despite working their butts off to succeed? Has the season begun? Has there been anything in the 2011 win-loss column to warrant even a drop of criticism? And since when is chanting the name of a QB not even on your team considered "mild booing"? /facepalm Not every fan has to like Henne, but at least show that you're a few notches above scumbaggery. If you cant tell the difference between both appropriate & inappropriate or reinforcing & detrimental behavior, then you have problems. For you to condone the latter of both is very telling about your character..... or apparent lack there of. I'd love to see you at a Little League Baseball practice------- "you call that a crow hop?!!..... Boooooo!!!!!...... We want Timmmmy, We want Timmmmy!!"
Excellent post! So good to have you back man! Jake, if you don't fist pump Todd's post, you ain't got a hair on your arse.
