All I have heard recently is you and your buddies ***** about the QB's. You knew the list of available QB's ...... Who exactly did you expect to get? Not like it consisted of Pro Bowl gunslingers. Are you mad because we didn't overspend for Orton? Oh the drama.
It wasn't the end of the world for me personally. I tempered my expectations because I understand we have a young football team and we were POORLY coached offensively. Two things that were easy to see unless you are wearing blinders. I've seen a real collapse take place before and It hurts when it happens. Last season wasn't like that. You have to be wise enough to understand the consequences of the two factors mentioned before. I did that.
it doesn't mean that...I'am just giving him this year because I feel its the right timeline to give him this year without all the BS, if he doesn't get to the level of performance from a team perspective that I think he should this year, I will be right there with you looking at new coaches.
I watched that 1 and 15 team completely sabatoge itself, I watched players purposely dog it, olineman, receivers...they were a pathetic group..
As long as you're making negative posts about Dan Henning, Channing Crowder, Brandon Marshall, or Jason Taylor you're good to go. Otherwise stop your whining and be wise enough to see what's really going on. Apparently a collapse is only a real collapse if you were some kind of preseason favorite. Otherwise who cares whether you get better or worse as the season goes on.
They lost a good number of games by a field goal or less. I think you're remembering what you want to remember here.
so you wanna debate me that we didn't deserve 1 and 15?..I remember every stinking play...we sucked, our defense sucked, cleo lemon was handing off to samkon gado.. So your stance is that they didn't take over such a bad team?.. I digress.
Poor Killa Did your Mother drop you on your head when you were a baby? Funny how you guys supposedly hate whinning so much except when you do it....(hmmm hypocrite comes to mind) This is a forum were people are supposed to express their views.........nobody is forcing you to read it. Now be a good boy and play nice Killa and remember we all want the best for the Dolphins and the old saying applies different strokes for different folks...........
My stance is that the team was no worse than many other teams that have drafted number one overall in the past twenty years or so. I will not accept 2007 as an excuse for Tony Sparano's ineffectiveness as a head coach in December 2010. There may be excuses but that is not one of them. I watched every game as well FYI. I was TDY in Texas for half of that season and I went to a sports bar to watch every game while usually getting laughed at by fans of other teams. But I still went.
I love this place. I walk into a Henne bashing thread and tell people they are being irrational and over reacting and two of them use personal attacks and the other doesn't respond directly. Once again I'm not sure what the people who are *****ing want. Neither Manning or Brady are available. Damn the Dolphins for not trying to get one of these guys. I'm not hoping we suckforluck like you guys. That is ridiculous. You do know that Henne threw a big strike downfield yesterday and Marshall dropped it. Yep that was Henne's fault alright. Those morons who ran this offense last season should have been shot. I blame Tony for not taking it over instead he was the enabler. Bad move. I wanted him fired after the season but he wasn't. So be it. It is a new season coming, Henne is the QB...... Deal!
Look at Abnormal trying to dish it out. Killer actually was dropped on his head, so your comment was pretty insulting.
I do agree that the rookie salary cap has changed things. That was why I wanted to keep at least the picks in the top three rounds. In the past a 2nd rounder and your first next year was enough to make a significant move up. I think it might take more this year. I don't know that it will, but I want to have the picks if it does. I didn't consider any of the guys in last year's draft worth moving up for. I heard the rumor (just here on this board) that they loved Locker, but I have no idea if it was true. Since I don't know that, I'm certainly am not going to assume it was a fact and then blame them for not moving up for him.
This. It saddens me to think that grown men come on here everyday just to whine and put forth fallicious arguments about how Henne is the reason for all of our problems.
I've read several attacks over the past several weeks by several regular posters. I got warned by the Mods, so hopefully the Mods can warn these posters too. Worse part is, the season hasn't even begun.
By Dave Hyde April 28, 2011 09:26 PM The Dolphins loved quarterback Jake Locker. They liked quarterback Christian Ponder. They would have considered defensive end Robert Quinn (imagine the reaction to that one). They got offensive lineman Mike Pouncey. They should have their interior line questions answered no matter where they play him and Richie Incognito. Pouncey played center at Florida. But the line solidified when Incognito played there at the end of last year. Either way, they have enough talent to solve the problems they had there. Pouncey fits a lot of the parameters the Dolphins like with their top pick: Big conference. Big guy. Liineman. "Size-wise, he's a perfect center,'' Jon Gruden said on ESPN. Problem is, the DOlphins want him as a guard. Nope, they didn't get the quarterback I hoped they would. But it wasn't for lack of hope. But Tennessee liked Locker at No. 8. Minnesota took Ponder at No. 12. Pouncey was the pick. Nothing sexy about it. But can't complain too much. http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/spo...g/2011/04/hyde5_carimi_gives_dolphins_do.html
well my friend welcome to a sports forum And I love how people exaggerate and twist peoples response to met their own devious means. Like theres lots of people in here who are legitimately complaining about Henne and saying that he's the soul problem........
excuse for what, he has a winning record as a coach after taking over that piece of dookie... Iam not giving him excuses, I think I'am being fair relative to the starting point as to what his expectations should be.
Thanks for the article. The point is that first, it's still a rumor. I've seen enough contradictory "reports" from the local media to take any of that as fact. Second, it's still subjective. I "loved" CKap, but there's no way I would have traded up to get him. Heck, I wouldn't have even taken him at 15. "Love" in football terms is not unconditional. I even "like" Orton. I like him so much I think he's worth a 4th pick. I don't like him enough to send a 3rd over.
They certainly do act like it. That's all anyone ever *****es about. I actually just checked FH (I know that place is immensly worse when it comes to whining) and in one thread I saw a large group of people who were putting the blame on Henne for every loss last year. People just need to start using rational thought, it's a pretty neat thing. Instead of blaming Henne for our team "sucking" why don't we blame the senile OC? The lack of a running game? Wildcat killing drives? Playing for field goals? There were many many things wrong with this team last year and a young quarterback is supposed to rise above all of that and take a young team to the playoffs? Yeah right. You're lucky Henne even led us to a 7-9 season with all of the other factors that caused our team to struggle.
That is what this whole damn thread is about. Started out as no competition to Henne sucks. Wash rinse repeat for any title that has the word Henne in it.
My take on the context of the article is that the guys who the Dolphins wanted, the guys who they not only would have taken but expected to be available, were gone. Specifically Locker and Ponder, which adds up in my book. They got Pouncy- not a thrilling pick but it fills a need, especially at Center regardless of Hyde's opinion. People can think what they want- I think that the Dolphins wanted Ponder. We'd have to ask Jeff Ireland on that one- good luck with that.
As Henne hangs on that proverbial cross, with proverbial spikes driven through his hands, he was heard to mutter, "forgive them Coach, for they know not what they do."
I got warned this week too, for not playing nice in the playpen with "Debbie Downer." Until the past couple of seasons, I used to ignore the forums during the season, when they become 'knee jerk reaction central'. Not sure if I will or not this season.
They could have had that, along with Henning having control over the offense, as to weekly game plans, play calls, etc.
Just the Dolphins luck, when they best QB draft in years coming up, and trade ups just set to become more difficult. Makes what our good ol' Padre has been saying, make more sense, to me anyway. Orton being the proven commodity, still young, still healthy, trending upwards, better go get the known, than wait for the unknown.
Just from what I can see, and mind you I am no professional, nor profess to be a professional, nor have I ever played one on TV, I don't see a nickel's worth of difference between Devlin and the Bengals 2nd round QB, Dalton. There is a chance we either got a steal, or a chance the 'Gals reached big time and the outcome will reflect as much. Read somewhere, Ireland was in love with Devlin before finally getting to sign him as a UDFA. May or may not be true. If he loved him all that much, seems like he'd have used a 7 on him rather than risk losing out in free agency. Maybe it was love enough to take on a date to Burger King, but not yet love enough to take to the Senior Prom. Hopefully, Devlin is convincing him he is prom date worthy.
Totally agree, because the Dolphins also lost 6 or 7 games by less than 3 or less points that season, and easily could have been 4-12 or 5-11. Far from one of the worst teams in NFL history.
Well Padre that can go both ways. I think its sad that so many on this board are willing to work so hard to convince themselves that we are headed towards even a winning season. I feel they are lying to themselves, because if they really looked at the situation they'd see just how desperate the situation really is.
