what are the odds that we are even interested in Aubrayo Franklin as a back-up NT given his previous history with Nolan?? Assuming of course, the price is right .....

i know we drafted Kearse, we've had McDaniel spot there at times ... and we still have Baker as a project, but if Kearse/Baker don't look good in camp - it has to be a consideration.

We have outstanding talent at DE ... and hopefully, Soliai comes thru ... but beyond Kearse and Baker as projects, we are left with the rotation to fill the gap.

Maybe we could have traded for Broderick Bunkley, maybe we can pick up Amobi Okoye. I really have no idea why each of them underachieved, it's just a thought. Okoye is only 24 I believe.

There's about no chance in a million years the price would be right on Aubrayo Franklin as a backup. He's one of the best in the league.

If Soliai goes down, it'll probably be a DE moved to the spot. That's how a lot of teams do it.

The chances of that happening are about the same as Satan throwing snowballs in South Beach. :)

With our pathetic situation at Qb, honestly one of the last positions I'm worried about is a back-up NG.

I think we're fine at backup NT. The odds of grabbing Aubrayo Franklin to BACK UP Soliai are....I won't even say "slim to none" because truthfully the answer is just "none".

NT is a half position. Only plays about 500-600 snaps in a season at most. Therefore, a lot of teams don't even have a full dedicated backup to that position. They want a guy that can play multiple positions. The exception would be if you have a guy you feel is worth developing, as Soliai has been in the past. In Miami's case both Randy Starks and Tony McDaniel can fill in at that spot, so they're not worried. They grabbed Frank Kearse in the Draft to see how he looks at that spot and if he proves worthy of a roster spot he'd be the closest thing Miami has to a dedicated backup NT.

We are fine at NT folks down to the depth as McD/Starks/Ryan Baker, even C Baker can play NT, no worries folks.

Ma'ake Kemoeatu would be perfect to back up Paul Soliai.

They put themselves out of that market when they re-signed McD. If anything, there might not be enough snaps to go around on the DL now.

Franklin is a very good NT. Highly doubt he signs here to be a backup, and obviously, he isn't about to take backup money.

With MCD and Starks, with their position flexibility, we don't need to sign anyone.

Reports of Twitter suggest we have signed Ronald Fields from the Broncos, he will slot in at back-up NT

aah, feel better about NT now .... while MCD can spot - i don't like seeing Starks there .... and no matter how Soliai looks / plays this preseason, we need a fall back plan in case of injury -- not named MCD or Starks.

not forgetting Baker or Kearse, but NT is pretty damn important to our 3-4
