Actually this AM on his radio show, John Elway denied that Denver was asking for a 2nd or a 3rd and that Miami was offering a 4th or a 5th. Orton is a 4th who has grown exponentially and has proven what a good pocket QB he is. A 6th is beyond a slap in the face for this guy.
Thanks Nyuk Nyuk. I agree with you. There are still 3 or 4 people here who think henne is the next Marino. Most agree he is a #2.
I can agree with that, but I can't agree with believing that Henne has reached his ceiling, especially consider the abundant, detrimental circumstances of 2010. Year 4 Orton was at the level Henne was at in year 2. The reason Henne wasn't a 1st rounder is b/c it was presumed he'd need time to groom and adjust despite having 1st round talent...... so why is 4th round Orton getting the benefit of the doubt regarding development while 2nd round Henne is not despite Chad being more talented (along with now possessing a great work ethic and strong desire to win and lead the team)? The only thing giving Orton any edge is the fact that he has more experience. Basically, we're sacrificing talent & upside for a guy who is temporarily more experienced..... which is ridiculous IMO because when we're playing well as a team, Henne can manage a game (see the first half of 2010) and he can beat great teams and come from behind against them (see Pitt, GB, NY, and NE 2009). When we're not playing well, neither Orton nor Henne presently have what it takes to carry a team. IMO Henne is the more consistent game manager when we're playing well; when we're not, the more experienced Orton might make fewer mistakes, but if we're not playing well does it really matter who's QB? Here comes the QB merry-go-round alllll over again. Weeee.
He's a phenomenal talent as WR. On a personal level, he's a bit of a mental furball, as you all have seen.
I have no illusions about Henne being the next Marino and that's the thing that gets me about some of you younger guys. When you think of Dolphins quarterbacks, all you can think of is Marino because that's the only guy you ever knew as being a Dolphins quarterback. I do think that Henne has it in him to be another David Woodley or a Don Strock or even a Pete Mitchell and given a chance, maybe a Bob Griese. None of those Dolphins quarterbacks put up numbers like Dan Marino, but you know what they all did? THEY WON!!!!
Yes, we went out, traded a second round pick for him and what did Brandon Marshall help contribute to last season? A 7-9 season. Good job front office!!!!!
some of these guys also needed to be in the right system for their ability to come to fruition. Henne has certainly not been in that type of situation (the polar opposite really).
You boys in Denver better take care of my boy Tebow. I wish my hometown boy would have come to Miami, but since he didn't...and ironically went to my son's favorite team, you best look after him!!!
People were apprehensive at first, but they have really warmed up to him and he's got a ton of support. Rumor has it Elway is going to sign Delhomme to mentor him. People are excited about the idea, which is why we're all hot in the pants to get Orton out of here.
Don't speak too soon Mr Bronco fan. I'm moving to Denver next month, so I'll be able to follow 2 merry go rounds closely. lol.
Whose well-hidden steroid abuse? Elway? Did you ever see his arms? Nothing there, hardly. His powerful throw came from some kind of unique structure with his tendons, not from having large guns like Tebow has.
I do not think the 2nd round pick would have caused the season to be better than 7-9. Having a team that has 4 players over 30 also has something to do with the record.
Why do I keep seeing so many Florida plates up here? You guys keep coming here, I want to move to the Tampa Bay area. What is it with you guys? Btw, if you go to a Broncos game, be careful with your car and its contents. Not the best neighborhood.
Welcome Nyuk Nyuk. And the avatar Friar Tuck! We dont bite. Well, Sick might. Poetry. IT ****ING HAPPENS. GODDAMMIT, IRISH. Close the deal.
I was neutral on Tebow until I saw him work in scrimmage last summer. He lit it up with the recievers, and I think there was a presence on the field that the players latched onto. I've been sold on him since and I've wanted him to start since. It's true that at this point Orton is a better QB. I don't think anyone denies that. Tebow needs some development time and work with the guys that he was robbed of last year by a horrible head coach. He was #2 QB but got ZERO snaps in between-game practices. Absoutely neglectful, horrible management at the time. Elway's going to change that.
Thx. I was at the practice where the Friar Tuck was relevaled. Tim got a lot of catcalls from the guys in the stands. And yeah, dammit, close the deal. Btw, we're kickin yer butts in October. Hope you don't hate Timmy for what he's going to do to you.
Something I just plucked off the Broncos forums. Sorry can't put up a link or the post will go into the moderation memory hole because I'm a new user and anything with a link from me goes there: VIA NFL Mocks writer Will Schmitt This has been rumored for a while, but it may finally come into fruition today. Per various sources (Twitter, etc.) the Dolphins have successfully restructured Kyle Orton’s contract (He was due $9,000,000) this year to a multi-year deal and are just waiting on the Broncos to pull the trigger. Denver is understandably trying to get all they can at this point; they’re either demanding a 2nd or 3rd depending on who you listen to, while the Dolphins have reportedly offered either a 4th or a 5th. Not many free agent QBs capable of starting remaining, but to be fair, not many teams are pursuing a QB any more: Arizona, Miami and maybe Washington unless they think that John Beck (John Beck) can lead that team. Of course the Cardinals are enamored with Kevin Kolb and they are reportedly closing in on a deal involving DRC and a pick. This should be settled today, but if the Broncos feel they aren’t getting good value, look for them to delay finalizing a deal.
Hey, I just tried to PM you. We need to hook up when you get out here. I've been here for 8 years and most of the Broncos fans are cool.
