Miami gets commitment from Under Armour All American QB Preston Dewey. This is absolutely huge. This kid is a stud on film. Way to get us a very good QB from arguably the best QB state in the nation, Texas. He's getting coached by one of the all-time great college QB's in Ty Detmer as well, so that can only help.
Rumor floating around that Ray Ray Armstrong transferring. What a dumbass decision by him if true. Good riddance, I can think of maybe 2 plays he made his whole career here...
That's great, a Crow/Dewey/Williams/Morris competition at QB is exactly what this team needs. Hopefully none of these kids are scared of the competition like Storm.
Latest Sports Buzz also has us interested in Greg Olsen's younger brother, a Qb. Thoughts on Al Golden so far?
That would be Kevin Olsen. He's a 2013 guy. Haven't watched film on him yet but I've heard good things. As for Golden, what's not to like so far? He took the job less than 2 months away from NSD. We had 1 commitment, Phillip Dorsett. He completely salvaged our recruiting class to get us some very good players. That hasn't changed for this recruiting season. If he keeps up what he's been doing, we'll have a top 10 class for sure. As far as coaching goes. Well, I think he's proven just how capable he is with his success at Temple of all places. I see people saying things like, "Well, that doesn't mean much because he'll be coaching against better competition". I'd say having better players to work with more than cancels that out. The fact is, schools like Miami, Texas, USC, Penn State, Ohio State, etc. will never stay down for too long. Too much talent available to them in their backyard. All these schools need is a semi-competent coach. Coker and Shannon were most certainly not that, Al Golden on the other hand...
Miami's about to be eliminated from the college tourney...even though they were thrown into a bracket they had no business being in.
Watching their defense is maddening....doesnt matter what bracket or regional they went to, with 8 errors over three days, you're not going to win a whole lot games...
Pretty much sums up the Randy Shannon era. Bunch of self-entitled kids who don't give a ****. Good riddance.
Miami gets commitment from DE out of Philly, Jake O'Donnell. Terrific size at 6'6" 235. I haven't watched any film on him, but Butch Davis offering him is plenty good enough for me.

Canes get commitment from Jelani Hamilton, one of the best DE's in the nation out of the powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas.
Damn, that's a big get. Tough to believe the season starts in less than 3 months. It seems just like yesterday Golden Al was introduced as the new Canes coach.
Can't wait. I think we're going to surprise this year. Talent isn't the problem, nor has it been. If Golden is as good a coach as he is a recruiter, I can see us winning the ACC in his first season. A lot of that is going to fall on whoever the starting QB is though. If they can coach Jarcory/Morris up to the point where they don't make the awful decisions they usually do, I like our chances.
I think we'll go 9-3...with losses to VagTech, UNC, and F$U. But I wouldn't be surprised if they lost 4 or 5 games.
We've gotten some commits lately....I don't feel like researching their names but they got a 6'5" TE (only played 1 year of football, though) out of Godby.
Josh Witt commits with Miami Hurricanes The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder recorded more than 100 tackles last season, Cypress Bay coach Mark Guandolo said, and has 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash. He played quarterback through his sophomore season at Cypress Bay, but moved to linebacker the spring before his junior year. “I really wanted to move to defense,” Witt said. “I was tired of getting hit. I was ready to hit some people for a change.” Guandolo described Witt as big, strong, "real explosive" and fast. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...mits-miami-hurricanes-20110701,0,621792.story
\ Actually, he hasn't played any football at all aside from some spring games. The kid is an elite athlete though. State champ in the high jump. This kid is really going to prove just how good Golden really is. If he has a great senior season, Golden is going to like a talent spotting genius for offering a kid before he played a down of football. I have faith, Jimmy Graham 2.0.
Another one of Golden's camp MVPs. Only 1 year at LB, could blow up if his senior season is as good or better than his junior season.
Reggie Johnson tore his meniscus in supposedly a pickup game. Could miss the entire OOC schedule, but should be back in time for the ACC schedule. Big blow for us.
If Frank Gore could stay healthy, he'd have a lot more respect in the league. He is extremely talented. Extremely. I think people very often forget how talented he is and also forget what a talent he was before he blew out his knees.
Recruiting update. 4 star WR Jody Fuller out of NC is announcing tonight. He's trimmed his list down to 2, Miami and South Carolina.
Not surprisingly, Fuller commited to South Carolina. Not a big loss. We'll land Malcolm Lewis or definitely Amari Copper, both better prospects imo.
Florida recruits been showing out at The Opening event in Oregon. Among the most impressive, Duke Johnson and Dwayne Hoilett, both Miami commits.
Canes get commitments from LB James Burgess Jr. and ATH Herb Waters. Both are teammates with AJ Leggett at Homestead. Many of you guys may remember James Burgess father playing at Miami.
Duke Johnson and Keith Brown need to be put on the payroll with how much they were recruiting for us in Oregon. Preston Dewey as well. According to Duke, they've been working hard on Deon Bush, Sean Price, Nelson Agholor, Tracy Howard, and Ricardo Louis.
Also looks like we have a walk on long snapper. He played JUCO with our P commit from last year, Dalton Botts, so it's good they have some chemistry already. I like that Golden has put a big emphasis on ST since he got here.
You can sign 25 kids a year. However, Early Enrollees don't count towards that number. Of course, you can never have over 85 scholarship kids on your roster. We're in pretty good shape with all the kids we've had transfer/kicked off the team this year. Not to mention we have 22 seniors, plus there will be some kids who leave early for the NFL obviously. I'd say we'll take 30-35 kids in this class. Edit - It's also unrealistic to believe every kid currently committed will stay committed come NSD. Edit 2 - I forgot about our late transfers and signees. Ryan Williams, a DB from Wake Forest, 2 DT's and a S. I think that was it. So it will be around 25-30 kids we take this class, most likely closer to 30.
I think he can make a good compliment to Rice, especially as a short yardage back, especially with McGahee on the way out. Good luck to him.
