There are reports that Santonio Holmes will be a Redskin, and that Brylon Edwards could also be gone. I would feel so badly for Sanchez, and our good friends on the Jets. LOL

Karma - she is a bi-atch. If those two are gone, it's gonna hurt, and Sanchez will fall down to the level we know he's really at.
Still, I can see them signing R Moss (not very effective) and then relying heavily on D Keller. might make him a prime fantasy TE stud.

Holmes is as good as resigned by every account in NY. I would be pretty stunned (and happy) to see him leave. Edwards and Smith look like they may price themselves out of the Jets range. Cromartie wants to stay but I suppose he has to take the best offer so he can continue to pay child support on his own small community of kids.

Santonio Holmes is going to be a boatload of money wherever he goes. I don't think there will be much interest in Edwards, and I think there is a better chance he stays a Jet.

The Jets took a very short-term approach to their team building with their recent additions. It got them some pretty good seasons the last two years, but it will bite them at some point. I would love for them to lose Holmes. I'd probably prefer that they keep Edwards though. I think Edwards is so inconsistent that he might prevent them from ever having a consistent passing offense and there's a good chance they would over pay to keep him.

I'd still love to get B Smith here, if he's not overpaid. one of those X-factor guys, like if Pat White was actually good.

IIRC it was Alen Faneca. I had fun watching Starks manhandle his *** in when we went to NY in the Ted Ginn game.

And you're right, they've had a ridiculous run of good health on the OL. I dont think it will continue, but I said that last year as well.

To be fair to the Jets, they did have to take a short-term approach, as they had all those PSL's to sell. I think now that there is a cap, and they've had success the past few years, there will be a slight shift in their philosophy. Tannenbaum is a good GM in my opinion, and Ryan is a good coach, so I don't think we'll see them become a bad team. But I don't think there will be enough talent there to consistently make the playoffs.

I'm seeing that Holmes is #1 on Snyder's list, and that is the likely deal. If that happens, I will say nothing bad on Snyder for a month. GO GET HIM DAN! LOL

Edwards is gone IF they sign Holmes, and 50-50 if they do not.

To their credit, the Jets took their shot, and came up short. It's time to pay the piper, and I believe they will drop down this season.

We're sitting here wondering which players we're going to acquire (Orton-Bradshaw-Edwards etc), meanwhile the Jets are preparing for a mass exodus. Depending on what Ireland is able to bring in I think we could see a serious power shift in the division.

I agree, it's not my favored approach to team building though b/c in a game with an odd shaped ball, funny bounces and injuries it helps your cause to have as long of a run as possible.

Agreed GM. IF things work out as I see them unfolding, Henne will be better than Sanchez, and Dolphins will be better than Jets.

Also, the Pats are not all that great, and beatable.

Santonio Holmes is the only guy they'll really miss, IF he leaves. I don't think they'd miss Brad Smith or Antonio Cromartie, and I KNOW they won't miss Braylon Edwards.

Reports of their demise are definitely premature. This is a team that's been to two AFC Championship Games in a row. It still seems to me like intra-divisional jealousy when everyone pounces on them talking about them going back to sub-.500, etc.

How much they miss those guys will depend on who they replace them with. It's a pretty big drop off from Cromartie to Kyle Wilson, or Edwards to Jericho Cotchery.

All teams receive gifts in terms of luck. They also suffer bad luck. Yeah, I'm sure the Patriots luck in winning the AFC Championship Game due to the tuck rule really foreshadowed a period of suckitude over the next few years. Oh, wait...

Nonetheless with a good team like that, to start forecasting them sub-.500 all the sudden, again...seems like intra-divisional rivalry coloring judgment.

They'll still have a defense though. Can't see the Jets finishing below 8-8, but who knows. I mean, the Dolphins in 2000 and 2001 were able to go 11-5 with mainly just a defense.

Gotta agree. This is alot of wishful thinking. And as far as a revenge game win with the Pats on Monday night, Not with our current Qb situation.

The defense will still be good, but losing Cromartie will hurt. Ryan does a lot of blitzing and he relies Revis & Cromartie to hold it down on the outside. Without him, we're talking about Drew Coleman-Dwight-Lowery-Kyle Wilson as the 2-4 guys. Not an awe inspiring group, and any injury to Revis would be devastating.

I predict they'll win 4 games this year and that's it. 2 against the Pats and 2 against the Bills. That is all based on the fact that I hate them. I don't care if that is a justifiable reason or not.

In all 3 of those games, the Jets dominated. I think they outgained those teams by 100 yards in each of those games. And IIRC, the Jets were unlucky that those games were even as close as they were.

While I wouldn't go so far as to predict the Jets will suddenly be a horrible (ie. sub .500) team, I do believe that their team will be not as good as it was the last two seasons. I also agree that a team with a top 5 QB can more easily be expected to be a consistent SB contender.

Edwards probably stays just out of lack of interest around the league. You may get St. Louis to make a move for him to give Bradford a big target who when on, is a damn good player.

Holmes hopefully leaves. I'm hoping someone puts together a solid offer for him and snatches him away. I would only partially complain if it was us, he does play ST and returns punts for the Jets.

Brad Smith is the WR I want the most from them presuming Gates adapts well. If he does, we shouldn't need anyone else because I like Hartline's game and with Gates's blazing we should be scary if not dangerous. He is a ST maven and a guy that can do a lot of things WC notwithstanding. He'll also come a bit cheaper and allow us to put some money on a RB, OG, OLB in any order.

LOL. A Moss signing would be the icing on the turd cake of failure. Nothing like the smell of lockerroom cancer in the morning. Should do wonders for the development of the Sanchize as well.

Even if I don't believe that Mark Sanchez is truly a franchise quarterback, I do believe it's reasonable to expect that he'll be better in his fourth season as a starter since High School, than he was in his third season as a starter since High School.

Everyone seems to focus on Sanchez' dropped interceptions as proof that luck will run out and they'll suck, but what if Sanchez improves, to make up for some of these losses in the off season, or to make up for worse luck? He doesn't have to be a franchise QB to be better than he's been. Kyle Orton is hardly a franchise QB in my eyes, nor Ryan Fitzpatrick, but they were better than Sanchez in the regular season by a fair bit. If Sanchez improves to those levels, losing Brad Smith, Braylon Edwards and Antonio Cromartie won't matter much. Not that I think losing Cromartie or Edwards will matter much period, because I think they have guys that will step up and be better than those two inconsistent players have been.

They have an elite defense and a good ground game. If I believed Miami had those things I wouldn't be predicting doom and gloom even if Henne were slated to be the QB again.

Home underdogs on Monday night in Week 1 vs our arch rival who embarrassed us twice the previous season. If we're EVER going to come out fired up for a game it's going to be that one.

I live up in Jets country, about 5-10 minutes from Rex Ryan's house. As much as I hate the Jets, I do agree with CK that it might be a bit too premature to expect their demise. They have one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL, and Ryan's defensive schemes speak for themselves. Yes, they've had some good fortune, but good teams often make their luck. As for Sanchez, he has shown flashes in his game of having certain natural abilities (footwork, moxie) that can win you ballgames. Unfortunately it wouldn't shock me if he improved more than Henne might.

No one is dancing on any graves but you don't lose guys like Cromartie, Holmes, Edwards & Smith w/o feeling the effects of it. While they are failing to keep the guys they have, we'll be deciding which guys we're going to add. It's a good position to be in.
