Right, So, remember Jason West and Vince Zampella? The guys who ran Infinity Ward and made CoD4 and MW2? The guys who left EA and Medal of Honor to make CoD for Activision, but then left Activision to make games for EA again? Their game apparently won't be out until 2015. Call of Halo Duty? Space Marines in Space?
From the sound of it, Respawn's game won't even be in the same genre. Why would EA want a third military FPS series? They spent a lot of money reviving Medal of Honor (and didn't really do it right), they're marketing the hell out of Battlefield 3, so… why compete with itself?
So they can have a game to actually compete against COD rather than get demolished by it? Isn't that why RS/EA has been calling Respawn's game the COD killer? Also, when JW and VZ were with IW they made it clear they didn't want a MW3, but wanted more futuristic shooter. It sounds like that's what they're making. Cod in the future. Could be wrong though, but that was always my impression. Also, If EA was smart, they would always release BF 6 months after COD rather than directly compete with the launch date. that's neither here nor there, but I just wanted to call that out.
Respawn and EA have not said a word about the new game, let alone label it a "CoD killer". That's the term being affixed to Battlefield 3 by the Internet's peanut gallery due to general dissatisfaction with MW2 and hatred of Bobby Kotick. Futuristic in video game parlance means "Halo competitor". EA has always avoided CoD. This is the first time CoD and Battlefield are going directly head to head.
I don't think they're bringing Jesse Stern over this time. By the way, Jesse Stern was apparently part of the CoD4 team as well. So...
