Ted Turner sold the Braves to 'Liberty Media'. Not his team, not on his network anymore. Theres a new network called 'Peach Tree TV' (PCTV) thats kinda like the new TBS. Unfortunately only the local Atlanta cable providers have picked it up.
Tex has to be able to make teams pay for walking Chipper. Would like to have seen him work the count a little better. Kensing threw him 2 off speed pitches...
You can get it in Augusta with Directv. But the vast majority of the Braves games have been on Sportsouth.
Somebody call Elias, I think Chipper set a major league record for most hits in the first 22 games of the season (38). Havent seen anybody mention it. Sportscenter made a big deal about Chase Utley getting 35 hits in his first 23 games, but nothin about CJ10...
I was looking in the paper and noticed that Atlanta is 1st in the NL in batting average and 2nd in team ERA which makes me very disappointed that they are only 12-12. Maybe they're just extremely unlucky.
Something's not right with Smoltz today. I doubt he comes back for the 3rd inning. Not a good sign. Hopefully it's something that will go away before his next start. Down 3-0 with Buddy Carlyle coming in for long relief I think it's safe to say they're going to drop this one and the series to those dang Mets.
I can't watch anymore, Smoltz should not be out there now, he is clearly having some kind of problems. I'm used to seeing the Mets hanging their heads in defeat after an Atlanta series, this is too much.
Glavine came back and pitched well tonight, 2 earned runs. But we couldn't get the win for him. Plus they put Smoltz on the DL. They said Hampton is pitching in the minors and will probably throw a few more times before he comes back. Chipper was back in the lineup and hit a HR.
I'm impressed with all the ways they find to lose. If isn't pitching it's lack of run support. It's always something.
Yep, thats baseball fellas. When it rains it pours. Hopefully they'll hit a stretch where they find a way to win all these close games.
Thats usually what they call guys outta the bullpen I think its because we are so injury plagued down there right now. Plus it would limit the innings on his shoulder. Besides, Id love to see him come out of the pen again and throw 100 MPH with the most wicked slider evar!
Frenchy is killing my fantasy team. He is really streaky at the moment. Atleast Yunel looks to be back in the everyday lineup.
don't know if y'all heard but Hampton had to be removed during the 4th inning of his rehab assignment. felt pain in the pectoral muscle again... <sigh> big surprise, i know...
Worst coaching job by Bobby all year. Not only does he extend a power pitcher in Acosta for 3 innings in relief, he leaves him in to hit for himself with 2 runners on base in the top half of the inning?!?! Not only that, Acosta's control was horrible before that. Why you would bring a pinch hitter to the on-deck circle and then call him back after a guy gets into scoring position is BEYOND me. I realize things get magnified in close games. But Cox is 0-8 in 1 run games. Embarassing to watch this team play the game right now with their lack of execution on fundamentals...
That makes us 0-12 now in games in which we are tied or losing in the 6th. Really frustrating season thus far.
Sad. I love to blame the bullpen with stats like that, but not this time. We are the worst team in MLB with runners in scoring position. And we lead the NL in men LOB...
And the weird part about that is I think we are pretty high up in BA, at least in the NL. And our starter's ERA is pretty good too. Baseball is a crazy game sometimes.
Too bad Dave, it seems like your teams just don't win this year. It really makes me laugh to read posts about baseball. It's like a dog watching TV. BA, ERA, LOB, I have no clue what you guys are talking about but as Fins fans I know one thing for sure: 0-12 sucks. GO BRAVES
Thanks Roman. I guess I can understand the lack of appeal of baseball. I guess you just have to grow up on it. I don't like it as much as football but its a great way to bridge the big gap football leaves in the summer. The bad thing about the Braves' start is that there are two other teams that can easily win their division. I don't think the Mets and Phils will pull too far away. But they don't need to do them any favors.
They were first in BA a few days ago in the NL. And 2nd in ERA. It's lack of execution with runners on base. Really it's a lot of things. I haven't seen a team this bad in the clutch in a while. The pitching injuries don't help but they should still be better than this.
