Next shoe to drop for me is when the owners schedule their vote. Transition rules seem pretty clear that after the vote teams will have three days to digest the new CBA and come up with strategy, then three days to sign UDFAs and their own players, then free agency starts. I'd prefer the owners not wait all the way until the 21st to get that vote underway. When Florio heard some rumors about the 17th being an important day they plan to come to agreement, I speculated to him that it may be because owners were figuring on moving up their 21st meeting to the 17th, which would give them Friday to make an agreement in principle, Saturday for other owners to review it, and Sunday to vote. I'm guessing UDFAs will start to be contacted by next Wednesday.
I hope you are right CK but, don't see it happening that quickly. All the court battles have to be settled, the plaintiffs in the Brady suit, the insurance TV lockout revenue, etc. I don't see how they can be avoided to finalize a deal.
Thanks, I was wondering about that because it was a one day thing and never got any subsequent press. It looks like they were just trying to get some attention for their cause. Wouldn't any grievances that Former Players have, need to be handled by the NFLPA? Considering that team ownership changes, I doubt they'd have as much to do with playing former players as the NFLPA which represents them still.
I don't think anyone needs to do anything about their filing from what I've sensed. Sabre rattling at its finest.
12 more days, if they are really this close this should be enough time, i hope we go on a nice shopping tour first
