Jason Cole's sources say we have interest in Reggie Bush.

I'd have to see the article, but it's not that simple. Cole's source never said we have an interest. All Cole's source does is list teams who would be candidates for Bush's services. Now if he said "the source spoke to insiders in the Dolphin organization that Bush is on the Dolphins radar" then it makes sense. But all Cole's source seems to be doing is correlating a speed back with teams that have a need for one. For all we know, this front office may want nothing to do with Bush for one reason or another.

I'd love to see Bush in Miami. Especially in our spread package.

Thing is, does Bush have interest in Miami ? Take out being a Miami Dolphins fan, and ask yourself, if you had a choice - Pittsburgh or Miami ? It wouldn't take me more than a few seconds to answer that.

You guys just think that we'll be the landing place of every high profile FA on the market, and I keep reminding you of what Drew Rosenhaus said weeks ago, that he and other agents are going to steer their clients away from Miami, because of the tenuous coaching situation. He and other agents aren't going to push their clients to sign somewhere where a complete new front office & coaching staff could be in place as early as next January. To be stuck on a team with a philosophy that doesn't suit your best abilities is horrible, and if you sign a huge contract you are then nearly impossible to move to another team. To avoid all that hassle, he and other agents will stay clear of Miami.

Pitt has Mendenhall, Redman, and Dwyer (also Moore, if they plan on resigning him).
    Miami has Thomas and Hilliard.

Better weather, more playing time, established team (a lot of you don't believe this, but at least we aren't the Raiders or Bills or Panthers), possibly more money to spend (not sure on this), etc...

I don't know what Bush's mind is thinking...but it's not like you are comparing the Steelers vs the Bills.

Interesting you just ignore the major point of my post - that major free agents will be steering clear of Miami, because of the GM & coaching situation.

This again? After DeAngelo Williams says he wants to be here. Kevin Smith. Mike Sims-Walker. Heck, even Ricky Williams did a 180 and said he wants to come back. You don't have a shred of evidence showing one player saying NO to Miami. Until you can prove otherwise, it's conjecture...conjecture with strong evidence to the contrary.

I saw the man say it myself. Did I record it ? No, but I know what I saw & heard. Rosenhaus said it, and I believe it, because it makes sense.

As for anything, ANYONE says on this board, is mostly if not all conjecture, so why does that make what I say any different. Just because it doesn't fit into your "la di da, everything in Dolphinland is wonderful and perfect" world ? This organization is at the lowest I have seen in 46 years of Dolphin fandom. It's one of the jokes in the NFL, and I believe, will sadly be one of the worst teams in the NFL this coming season.

And remember what players want, and what their agents want are often times two completely different things. Agents are hired for a reason, and that is not just to do the contracts, but also for sound advice - and any agent can see this Dolphins team is a trainwreck waiting to happen.

Continue to dwell on the negative and see the glass as always half empty, if it suits your fancy, but fact of the matter is Ireland and Sparano are on no thinner ice than half the GM/HC combos in the league.
I do not see them as mutually inclusive when it comes to job security either. IF the Phins miss the playoffs this year, which you probably accept as a given, it is just as likely Sparano goes and Ireland stays, as it is both would get the boot.

Jake said a while back that he sees the Bills as a team on the way up and the Dolphins getting worse, so that's probably why he didn't compare the superior Bills to the Steelers rather than the train wreck waiting to happen Dolphins.

I suppose you really believe what you say, and to me that's very sad. Whether you want to accept it or not, half the teams in the league, at least, have a coaching situation at least as "tenuous" as the Dolphins. Will Drew advice his clients to steer clear of those teams too? I suppose you may believe, given your constant negativity towards all things Dolphin, that 31 head coaches and GMs have good job security and then there is Miami all alone as the only team with a HC and GM hanging on by a thread.

Rosenhaus does not represent every player and I posted three actual players who are on record wanting in.

Oh BS. What "la di da" stuff are you talking? They are on RECORD saying they want to come in here. I really don't care how old you are. In every thread you can, you post about oh I'm so old, I know these things. Does that make you better than me or something? Nope. This isn't judging a nicely whipped plate of Tapioca pudding. This is football. Age does not make your conjecture better than the concrete facts of players wanting in. You can't dispute it other than how old you are and an unverifiable account of ONE agent. It truly does not matter to me what you "believe" about this team. We went 7-9 with a young team. We have gotten better at almost every position and these guys have gotten experience. You should take your clairvoyance and bet against the Dolphins Ms. Cleo. Make yourself some cash. If you know it's a done deal, you wouldn't be betraying the team, just profiting from it.

Okay Mr. NFL Sources. Whatever you say.

Unless you can back that up with a link or something one can only assume you either misheard or misinterpreted what was said.

Why would Drew Rosenhaus steer his clients away from Miami when he's practically joined at the hip with the organization, has been accused of stealing away Dolphin players as clients, and has had a notoriously good working relationship with the team? You really think he'd toss that out the window due to a tenuous coaching situation?

It's not like this team is going to go a mad shopping spree when free agency starts anyway. If their one or two "big ticket" guys are amenable to coming to Miami (and if he's one of them DeAngelo Williams has basically said as much) then your point would be fairly moot anyway.

I like Bush. I could see him playing a Percy Harvin, all-purpose, role. 3rd down RB, slot receiver, returner, wildcat...

I think the idea that any agent would steer players away from Miami, or any team, is ridiculous. The number one consideration for almost every agent and player is money. That's the bottom line.

I deal in truths as I see them, and I don't feel like sugarcoating this mess that Ireland has created. I actually feel he could be more of a problem than fist pumper, and sadly I think he does stay even if fist pumper is let go.

Where can you possibly see an upside ? This is the worst possible scenario for this team, this off-season, that you could have. A new offense being installed, by one of the worst OC's in the league the past two years who by the way, who was fired by Mike Holmgren, an extremely respected NFL offensive coach & now GM. Daboll is supposed to install and have running a capable NFL offense with possibly almost no offseason, and maybe a curtailed preseason ? And we have New England as the 1st game ? OMFG and you think they beat us senseless in that last game of the season ? This could be worse - much worse. And mind you, possibly none of your rookies might be starters, because of all the lost time in the off-season of no OTA and mini-camps.

No, this could be even worse than 2007. Get your paper bags ready for wearing.

Anytime your owner starts crying like you won the Superbowl to avoid 1-15 is a low point for the franchise. There's no way we are where we were 4 years ago.

Did I say that Miami was alone in that situation ? No, but Rosenhaus said it loud and clear on his weekly spot on Channel 7 Sports Extra (Sunday at 11:30pm). The segement called "Next Question" is where he said this, either the week before or after the Super Bowl. It was right after our season had ended and the whole Jim Harbarugh fiasco was fresh in everyone's mind. Maybe he has changed his mind, but I haven't read that so I have to go by what I heard the man say.

As for other teams problems, well I could not give a rats behind. But it was clear that Drew Rosenhaus said that he and other agents would be steering their clients away from the problems in Miami, and would only come here as the haven of last resort.

Why is it so hard to believe ? It makes perfect sense if you sit back and think about it.

Why the personal attack ? This is supposed to be adult debate, yet you have resorted, quite unfairly to talking about my age, and derisively used my position to make fun of me personally, calling me "Ms. Cleo".

Either apologize or I refuse to continue debating with you

You say you don't care what I believe. Fine.

You say we went 7-9 with a young team, and that we have gotten better at almost every position. Really ? The team that lost to Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit ALL AT HOME, and then got blown out in NE got better as the year went on, with all this "experience" ? Seriously, you wish for credibility you need to think that over again. Also anyone who thinks this years group of rookies will make a huge difference this year, must have missed what Sparano said the other day about they have missed about 46 practices so far that rookies normally get, and that this would definitely put them way behind most rookie classes. So much for DT or any of the rooks coming in to be our savior.

Now I expect an apology. Learn to be respectful.

I have no link, but I know what I heard. I too was incredulous when he said it, because of the reasons you mentioned. I rewound the DVR several times just to make sure I heard it correctly. I will go to my deathbed swearing that he said this. That he would advise his clients, and he has heard of others agents as well, to stay clear of Miami because of the coaching situation, and the tenuous situation in the Dolphins FO.

If you guys want to say DeAngelo Williams wants to come here, I would just remind you of the Ryan Clark experience of several years ago. Players do and say a lot of BS in the name of eventually getting what they really want.

And so what makes Miami any more attractive than more than half of the teams in the NFL ? I have already told you why many agents & players I believe will steer clear of Miami. If you wish to not agree with me, then fine. We are probably never going to change the others mind, and will have to wait until NFL free agency hits and see what happens.

This is the second time I've seen you refer to this and I'm calling BS!! Totally and unfairly stated by you as untrue! I sat and watched with my own two eyes and ears as Drew mentioned the Dolphins with two of HIS clients just a couple of weeks ago on TV.

You sit there and tell us to take away the fact that we're Dolphins fans and then think about it but yet it is you that have been bashing this organization and it's staff to no end since the season ended. So I suggest you do the same when you interpret things you've herd certain people say. Take away the hatred you have for them and look at it like this. Pittsburgh offers 4 years 25 million to someone and Miami offers 4 years 25.5 million. No state tax, and the fact that it is a half million more on paper tells me that any agent in his right mind (the percentage he will make) will not tell his client to steer clear of Miami...

VO I believe we are a lot closer to that than many here wish to believe. We have one QB on the roster, and one practice squad QB on the roster. They also failed to pick up any QB in the draft. This leaves our starting QB situation one injury away from having a practice squad QB as our "as of now" starter. Isn't that just a bit on the scary side ????? We have no running backs save non-starters. The rookie just drafted, his development will be enormously hampered by the loss of off season OTA's and mini camps.

We also have a new set of offensive coaches, and we have a new OC, one that was just run out of his old job, by a man that is considered an offensive genius. He wasn't good enough for him, yet we are to believe this man will come in here and be our OC Savior ?

Dude, I want to believe, but man that is pushing my limits of reality. I just don't see it bro. I just don't see that we got better in the off-season so far, but actually worse.

Ozzy, I think it depends on his desire to win a Super Bowl. With that kind of money on the table, and depending on what he has already in the bank, I can see someone taking less to try to win. Its exactly what LeBron James, DeWayne Wade and Chris Bosh did - they all took less than max contracts here in Miami, to try to win, than sign elsewhere and get paid millions more. When you are worth say $ 10 million from your 1st contract, and your FA time is at hand, is $ 1 or $ 2 million difference going to make you happier than having a greater chance of winning a SB ? In that case I think many players, not all, but most would choose Pittsburgh over Miami.

  29. Ozzy

So what you're saying is in your mind players who want to win a SB should steer clear of Miami because AGENTS surely are not going to tell a player anything of the sort, and especially players with plenty of years left....

Ozzy you and I both know, that circumstances are quite different this year than last. I was myself very hopeful in the future last year. However, the home losses, and the way they lost some of them, losing in a row at home to Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit, 3 of the perennial loser franchises, the lack of progress in Henne, the whole Harbaugh fiasco, the regression of the OLine, the whole putrid offense, then bringing in an OC from an offense that was worse than the one you had last year that stunk the joint out.

Dude I don't see where anyone could see hope. I sure don't.

Jeremy Schockey, who I love as a former Cane, is at this point, lucky to have a job in the NFL. He is not what he once was, and God Bless him, he also can be a pain in the behind, hence why is no longer in NY or NOLA.

I think this debate can go on and on, and none of us will change our minds. Its going to have to play out, and should do so in due time here in several weeks. I do think the NFL will have an agreement by the July 9th deadline. Its getting close to happening and I think it will all be done here soon. Then we'll see.

I'm sorry but I don't see how this relates to how an agent, who gets a percentage, would steer his clients away from any contract offer. Miami was in the middle of the pack not the bottom tier of the league.

You're comparing three NBA contracts that were over a 100 million each and guaranteed to an NFL contract with the only guarantee being the signing bonus?

Sure it CAN happen to a player like a Jason Taylor, who might have one good season left but the odds are not good with players seeking a good money contract with a great signing bonus!

Clark was last year. not several years ago. The reason he didn't sign was our offer wasn't good enough for him to leave the Steelers. Ireland had a set he wasn't going above. Not unusual really, and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because had Clark signed, Clemons would not have gotten a chance.

You said Drew singled out Miami. Why would he do that if the FO/coaching situation is no less secure than half the teams at least?

What makes sense is agents representing their players evenly with any team with which the player has a mutual interest and if anything suggest the team offering the most guaranteed money.
