So, in this day and age of smoking awareness and in a day of "f-you -- I will do as I wish", where do you fall in the cigarette debate? Current smoker? Once a smoker but no longer. Never took up the habit.
I have quit but I still like a cigar or cigarette now and then. I'd say im no longer addicted though....... so tell me how to vote!!
I smoked cigarettes once in a while in high school just because everyone did and I was curious to see what all the hoopla was about. I didn't see any advantages to it and stopped.
I used to smoke in my late teens (about 4 yrs) but after watching a couple family members develop lung cancer, go through kemo, and eventually pass away because of it I promised myself that I would never touch one again and I haven't, nor do I ever plan to again.
Thanks man, lost both of my grandfathers that way. My wife also lost her grandmother to cancer from smoking.
no cigarettes for me. my whole family all smoked cigarettes at one time. Never could get passed the coughing when inhaling. Now marijuana now thats a different story
yeah cancers tough man. Lost my grandma to that and my other to liver failure and arthritis. Watching someone die that way is hard **** so I don't blame you at all bro.
gratz bro. Ive gone months without smoking before. I just look at it though as long as I keep it months and not days like I was I should be aight.
I have smoked a couple cigarettes at various times, always when I was out drinking with smokers, but I never took it up as a habit. Oddly enough, I DO like the taste of a cigarette, but I would never smoke on a regular basis because I hate the smell of a smoker's house and car.
Congrats, Rocky... It ain't an easy thing... My brother recently quit and I couldn't be more proud of him and happy that he did so...
Smoked cigs when I was 16 for about a year and a half before I quit. Every once in awhile I'll have one now but its pretty rare. Black and Milds I smoke in the summer sometimes. I really had no idea they had diff flavors. Maybe not available around here but def worth it to check out. Weed. Ah I used to love smoking weed. It was especially nice after a really hard workout or extra long day of work. But I've only smoked once in like the last year and a half because Im most likely getting hair/piss tested for a job. If I ever do pick it up again it'll probly only be a once or twice a week thing. I also used to smoke blunts which is kind of stupid in retrospect because their way worse then cigs with that heavy *** smoke. Too many people die from cancer, obviously a lot of relatives of this board. Def the same thing in my family as well. I guess moderation is def a good idea but for some people getting cancer only takes smoking like 10 cigars in a lifetime. Hard to choose between living in fear and doing something you enjoy in life.
Yup. I've been working on cutting down for the better part of 2 years. Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad. I know I HAVE to quit. I don't have a resolute plan on picking a day to quit but I am sure it will be this year and I have a strategy for when I decide to do so. It's just too expensive and there is that pesky "mortality" thing that keeps popping up. I also have a g/f who drops hints about me quitting. I'll wake up one day soon, slap on a patch and give it a go.
honestly bro it may sound stupid but the way I finally stopped for a while was I joined a message board. Quitnet.org I think it was. It had hints about quitting, things like set a quit date, it would send reminders and such on when u made a week and would tell u what u saved money and health wise. It really helped me.
ive had a few in my day, but it never has become a habit and never will. i cant stand them personally.
never smoked, but have been around heavy smokers most of my life so that probably killed the urge ... don't drink either really... very rare for me to have alcohol.
Always hated smoking, never understood it and thought it was disgusting. I broke down and tried it when I was in Vegas over the weekend, and actually enjoyed it. I found myself wanting a cigarette last night but it isnt happening. I guess it's something I can handle when drunk in Vegas at a black jack table, but even that isnt really in my character. I've been too anti-smoking for most of my life because there are so many smokers in my family for me to back out now; they'd give me so much **** for it lol.
Never smoked or done drugs .I was always into working out or playing sports .Everyone else around me in college was smoking marijuana but I resisted the urge without being an *** about it like giving out sermons
Go find someone who does, mate. Easier said than done, I know, but when I was your age (oh my God, that sounds way more patronizing than I mean it) I was in a very similar situation. All we were doing was sitting at some guys' place smoking pot. The funny thing was that the stuff didn't even do much for me aside from making me tired and pretty lethargic. I stuck around because they were great guys but at some point, everything would be about drugs. It put me down. There was a ton of stuff I liked doing and couldn't do because all they would be interested in was smoking pot. It wasn't friends, really. Somewhere down the road it became a bunch of people who only met because they needed the drugs. It was pathetic and I was feeling pretty pathetic myself. I still miss the guys but I've never regretted that I stopped going. A couple of weeks ago I met one of them in the train and we talked about old times. He invited me over to his place on the evening and I went there only to find out that they are still doing the same stuff. Eight years later their lives still revolve around drugs. It was depressing.
Smoked for about 4 yrs and gave it up Dec 16, 2003. Quit while I was deployed of all places lol. I brought one cartoon of cigs with me and thought to myself why not try to quit. The BX (military's walmart) was about a 2 mile walk and no one I worked with smoked (they all dipped). Ended up being pretty easy with no one around to remind me that I wasn't smoking.
Smoked about a pack/day for over 20 years... Quit on May 5th 2007 ... in less than a week it will be a year that I've been smoke free.
Never had a cigarette. Although I do have cigars once in a while. ( Maybe once a month and thats maximum)
Like Jason, I smoked in my late teens. It was the loss of my first wife that had me quitting. I guess that was actaully a very good time in my life. I got rid of two forms of Cancer at the same time
